It sounds like the "cool guy" missions (kicking in doors, calling in fire, etc.) are going to be reduced down to the top cut of operators, or do you just have to be right place right time?

Man this puts a totally different perspective on the career field i wanted to join bcs of the effect you had on the battlefield and how and how you had the unique ability to be a one man element to attach to another sof branch but now that seems like that sint the case? Am i wrong ?

As a JTAC (or a PJ), you could attach to other teams as a "one man element" but even typing that feels weird. There is no such thing as a "one man element", thats just a dude by himself. CCTs and PJs made amazing things happen for teams they were attached to, and we have that tool in our toolbox. CCT and PJs are going to continue to provide effects on the battlefield as part of a larger team. Nothing about that has changed or will change.

Yeah, Slife turned ST into a wannabe SF ODA that no theater CC will ever ask for. CCT is probably still a great job, but everyone is bailing and getting off the sinking ship.

As long as you keep calling yourselves "Airman" and not SOF operators, you will never be taken seriously. "Airmen" are great people, but that isn't who you are. You are SOF operators inside the Air Force. Words matter.

AFSOC aircrew love to call themselves SOF Operators too

Correction. They are airman who became special. But first an foremost. They are Airman.
