If I wasn't a teen in the 90's, I never would have guessed that Norther covered this song. It sounds like it was made for death metal.
Also Norther is definitely not Hardcore. This particular song sounds screamy because it was originally a punk song. They added more notes to the bass line and the vocalist is way over the top on this cover. It's well done, and I can understand why you'd think it was HC. But it most definitely isn't.
Bruh Mirrors of Madness is on spotify, but this cover is not. Not that it matters, we can listen to it here.
I bought the cd like 20 years ago and this is not on that either. Idk why but it sucks.

I like the norther version guitar low end sound better, but it doesn't have that ending riff that comes on at 3:14 in the Offspring version, where it has the battle drums and chugging guitar riff; I mean the riff is only 45 sec, but it fucking makes the song epic.

@dirtmerchant1980 this is a melo death band covering a punk song so it sounds like hardcore but if you listen to anything else from this band they arent even close to hardcore lol
this song needs to be remastered. the vocals need to go down and the guitar and synths need to come up.

@foxguy101 yeah, a band they are paying tribute to...if only offspring's songs could all sound the same like northers, then they coud have teenie-bop scream-a-dozen bands covering them and judging songss that sound different from the cookie-cutter-distortion-pop era of technically-metal kiddies w/ pedals TRUE metal bands...lol

you can cover twenty of my favorite songs n they will all proly sound better or heavier, but they can never capture the true meaning and emotion I felt when I was 15 and this music (w/out the distortion) affected my life... you could cover EVERY song from the 90's and it will probably make all the teenie screamo fans like them better..I like this version as a cover of the master copybut should this band really need to cover this unless as a tribute to a band they admire as a big brother....

The guitar and the drums are pretty cool..but the screaming vocals ruin the song imo and u can barely hear the base segment of the song starting at the 1:39 mark, which i think is one of the best parts of the song..

The Offspring used to be one of my favorite bands but I must say I love Northers version wayyyy better. They really put their own unique Finnish Metal touch to it and made it their own. I swear, syths always make a song sound better, and plus this song doesn't have the crappy guitar tone of noddles. hahah!

I've got an idea...lets re-sing every song ever made, but only distortion-scream every lyric...i used to listen to a cheesy band called dry-kill logic, and i think this is that same band renamed...it may also very well be 40 below summer or ......(insert 1million other group-screamie bands u can think of).....my little brother can use his MacBook and make this song sound way more wicked n he's only 13, if u r so primal Bad Ass, play it w/out distortion n sound just as mad....hahah right....

@Metalwhore89 Don't you ever talk poorly of Noodles. He is an amazing guitarist and the album was released on an underground independent label. The vocals simply ruin this version of the song and I have no idea how you could prefer it to the original. You're entitled to your opinion, but bashing on Noodles' guitar playing is never going to fly.
@Realusername i didnt mean to imply that its mainstream, its clearly not, and for good reason. However there are about a bajillion hardcore bands out there, and ever last one of them has a dude trying to sing like this, more or less. that is its own special kind of niche trendy. Sort of like how hipsters think of themselves as individuals because they dont dress like everyone else, but they all look remarkably similar to other people in their own peer group. unoriginal crap.

That lead in the background is incredibly annoying and extremely amateur sounding. Should have left it out... The guys vocals are good enough, you don't need to mimic the Melody?
i actually can not believe people are saying this is better than the original... its just a bloke screaming, when dexter sings this song, you can hear how meaning ful it is to him.. compared to the original this is terrrible.
