Brazil has a completely unique game culture. The government taxing games coming in made piracy common, and that led to heaps of BRs on free to play MMOs, haha. I read that during the ps2 era, a fan hack of PES was more popular than the original game itself. Pretty interesting to an outsider.

It's what's on the disc that counts, though, and the game was good :)

My brother was a huge Bruce Lee fan and Jackie Chan was a way for my kid brain to get into martial arts films. Rumble in the Bronx was awesome, I remember in an interview for that movie Jackie said he broke his foot jumping onto the hovercraft

Stuntmaster has blessed many childhoods judging by the comments, including mine. As a kid I loved this game and Jackie's movies in general, very fond memories. Thank you for the video!
Holy shit this game had so much charm. Listening someone talk about this game makes me happy that there are people that acknowledge this game's existence. Love this game and love this video
I think one of the hardest parts about playing this game as a child was some of the platforming. I remember that level where it was a waterfront or whatever... Absolute HELL. Sill love this game so much!
I used to LOVE Jackie Chan Stuntmaster as a kid. I mean, I still really like it - it's just very enjoyable. People in the comments were telling you that Rise to Honor was looking at this as a blueprint, but you want to know what game ACTUALLY is the successor to Stuntmaster? James Cameron's Dark Angel on PS2. See, I've been picking up games for my retro systems, looking for hidden gems and titles in genres that aren't popular to modern devs, like 3D beat 'em ups. I nabbed Dark Angel for PS2 a few months ago, not even entirely convinced it _was_ a pure beat'em up after looking up videos (since it had stealth game elements too). But it was super cheap and looked pretty cool so I took a chance on it. It just looked pleasantly "solid" or "chonky" with some vibrant character models (a bit more "action figure-y" than purely realistic I think) and clean level art... well, clean for a grimy, dystopian future city. In retrospect, it's a lot of what makes Stuntmaster's presentation so appealing, just done with PS2 poly counts, texture sizes and lighting models. Immediately, I started getting deja vu when I ran into the first group of enemies to fight, since Jessica Alba (I can't remember her character name; never watched the show) had a _very familiar_ wall run/backflip kick animation. Heck, _a lot of the fight animations_ seemed very familiar. In fact, the ENTIRE COMBAT ENGINE reminded me of something I had played before - just the way animations played out, objects/models collided with (or clipped through) each other, and animations linked and cancelled, etc. It wasn't super "punchy" and was a little "gummy" even though you felt solidly in control. Couldn't figure it out at the time though. Cut to some weeks later when I was a watching a RUclips video for Stuntmaster, saw that Radical logo and made the connection! It makes so much sense, since it was a rush-job to try and get a game out before the show was cancelled, OF COURSE they'd build it on top of a pre-existing game they pushed out that was already well-received. There's your base, now hit the ground running, start producing new art right away, code in some new systems and you've got a new title working really quickly without any prototyping and very little pre-production. Is Dark Angel a great game? I'm not entirely sure, as my PS2 Slim stopped reading discs shortly after purchasing that title (in lieu of getting a replacement right away, I've decided to focus on building up my import collection for my OTHER JP region PS2). From what I've played though, it's another solid title from Radical though it's played much more straight than Stuntmaster and lacks the fun and playful vibe, which is a shame. It's a little more "of the time" and hasn't aged as well in general, since it also lacks the pick-up-and-play arcadey nature of Jackie Chan. So I don't think it would be worth a video, but I figure I'd mention it anyway since it seems worth a play if you're a fan of Stuntmaster and want another 3D beat'em up to play through at some point down the line, especially since it's so freakin' cheap at less than $5. I think I spent $2 on my copy, complete in box - c'mon. Can't beat that for a solid game.
My childhood ps1 games -jackie chan stuntmaster -tekken 2-3 -crash bandicoot 1,2,3 -final fantasy 7-8 -medal gear solid -gran tourismo -Grand Theft Auto -sypro the dragon -medivel -die hard trilogy -hercules -tombi -tonyhawks pro skater And many many more Loved opening the game box and smelling the booklet and maps. Smelled like victory. And never forget we are all children of Demo 1.
ahhh... remember playing this when I was 12.. good times good times. I love double dragon on NES and gameboy so this game had the nostalgic gameplay even during it's time.
Aah Stuntmaster is one of my favorite beat them ups ever, it's very easy to pick up and play plus the mix of platforming and fighting on levels keeps the game from being repetitive, and it has so many combos to discover just by playing it's super fun.

Loved this game back in the day, has an awesome soundtrack as well. This would be awesome with a full remake for modern times.
Cool video. Made me nostalgic. I loved this game in my childhood.
I'm glad that the thumbnail ain't cursed (for once)

Man... I've been seeing this game's Boxart over and over in stores and magazines, back then.
If I ended up buying, I'd love it.

Never played this but been on a childhood ps1 binge so I'll definitely check it out, looks really fun
i was 10 yrs old when i was playing this game. the train part is such a heartstopper
Aah Stuntmaster is one of my favorite beat them ups ever, it's very easy to pick up and play plus the mix of platforming and fighting on levels keeps the game from being repetitive, and it has so many combos to discover just by playing it's super fun.
