At Play in the Fields of the Lord is a good movie. They aren't Indians, however, they're indigenous natives. It's amazing how times change. Unfortunately, I can't find it again anywhere.
So glad they both loved 'Let him have it' . Brilliant British film and a shocking miscarriage of justice.
Totally agree. Always loved it.
'Let Him Have It' is my favourite film! Glad it got shown over in the States, usually most English films (the ones about normal people, not those about Royals or stuck up mob) don't get that opportunity - mainly as most Americans can't understand regional accents which is ridiculous!
Just a little mistake in the video description.
They both gave thumbs up to "Let Him Have It".
And, may I add, a split decision on Michael Jackson's "Black or White".
S 👍, E 👎
I agree on Bugsy - delightful well-made movie with terrific performances by Warren Beatty & Annette Bening 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
Let Him Have It is strong & well-acted 👍🌟🌟🌟
Busy is good (the scene when he got shot, I had to turn my face away from the screen), and Let Him Have It is a good and sad movie.
14:26 Gene perfectly explains Michael Jackson’s artistic decision. He drew a direct link between racial injustice in the U.S. and the violence exhibited by black men as a result. The choice of a Black Panther was not a coincidence. As a Jew, I think Siskel had a slightly deeper understanding of cultural and ethnic nuances than Ebert. The longer he was married to Chaz, the better he understood race.
I miss these guys ❤
Best Warren Beatty film. I'm surprised they didn't mentioned Joe Mantegna as George Raft.
George Raft incidentally made Humphrey Bogart's career by turning down the roles that propelled Bogie to stardom.
That 80s saxophone theme. 😂
man, white evangelical america just did not have the language or framework to deal with that part of the michael jackson video. that seems to be the “controversy” here.
even these guys-hip to it and resentful of WASPs as they are-can’t help but see the video and ask “is he endorsing or condemning the violence????” when it’s a little more complicated than that
The Talking Heads did _not_ do morphing first, dear god Ebert
I always enjoyed that technique in the video for Cry ,by Godley and Creme.
I always thought that the hook in the song Black or white sounded just like the one in the Genesis song, Invisible Touch.
"At Play in the Fields of the Lord" is a well-done film that deserves more exposure than it did when it was first released. Aidan Quinn's character is the most sympathetic among the missionaries. All the actors give top-notch performances.
Another reason Prince was the goat!!!
I found _Bugsy_ to be a little cheesy (Hollywood Cheesiness). I would have replaced the director, and Beatty & Bening with better actors. It was okay, but could have been a classic.
They should have played him more authentically.
