Today I learned that you can set patrols in this game after reaching out to the dev. I'll definitely make use of that in future episodes! :) Thank you to those who suggested that I do patrols.
@@nathandann7595 tbh, he is incredibly unperceptive at times (casually misses red submarine caught by satellite 5 times in a row, repeat with green submarine)
I really think you needed more SAM sites, especially around your cities. Also, your destroyers might have done better closer to your shore line, acting like additional SAM sites, but out in the ocean. NA has it tough with how many big cities are on the coast.
Don't entirely agree about the destroyer point. All nations had MIRVs. My plan was to catch the missiles before they split. Keeping the destroyers closer to my shoreline would have meant the warheads would have already split.
@@Stealth17Gaming Since most of NA cities are on coast, defensive strategies aren't gonna work too well. I suspect the AI might've figured out this fact and capitalised with SSBNs, which are going to be the stealthiest option aswell as still having MIRV capabilities. This doesn't mean it's impossible to do this strategy, but you needed too much production and more micro to make this work, something which against human players would prove a big weakness that you wouldn't be able to do anything about
Yeah, I think the major issue here was not fully closing the hydrophone line off the west coast. This meant that boomers could just go in and out as they liked. He should probably have finished the line directly in his coastal waters and then drive them out all at once, creating a boomer free space.
See if he's going to call is isolationist I don't think it makes much sense to have a giant navy hunting and killing enemy vessels outside American waters. Isolationist would be fully defensive and instead use tactical nukes and MRBMs to instantly counter-fire any SLBM that attacks once nuclear war starts. That would be much more effective, nukes might get through but no sub would survive past the first salvo. In a similar vein I'd like to see a "United Americas" playthrough where Stealth and a friend play as North and South America dedicated almost entirely to defense. Thanks to geography an American alliance could string a constant chain of stats in a polar orbit that, from my testing, should be able to intercept any missile launched beyond the mid-Atlantic/Pacific. When combined with a strong navy and land-based ABM/SAMs and a small force of ICBMs and SSBNs (to knock out enemy assets targeting United America) they should be practically invincible. The only weak point in this strat is a massive and coordinated stealth bomber rush or similarly a close range SSBN saturation attack, but the AI doesn't seem smart enough to pull that off, and their airbases/subs should be easy targets for United American tactical nukes and naval assets.
@@MrMattumbo "MRBMs to instantly counter-fire any SLBM that attacks" that might work for an Ai but which unit/s he could have used are you suggesting would automatically respond to slbms?
@@lanslater You can make a strike plan and include MRBMs as the source and ballistic missile subs of X, Y, and Z factions as the target, once that plan is active they will automatically engage all subs as soon as they're detected within range. Boom automated coastal defense.
@@MrMattumbo thanks for answer - yea Ive seen that work Ive also seen it NOT work like with fkn SSBN which throw nukes over then submerge Or maybe in the case of Our mrbms dont spot or dont see or dont hit depending on whether your Strike plan include boomers as targets
You should have set your destroyers in a patrol pattern, tiny gaps added up. You never can catch everything but eh. You also had no way to strike besides very slow ships. But hey you do you.
@@Stealth17Gaming I am uncertain if there is an auto patrol function, where it will continue a route. I just set them on long convoluted routes. I avoid heavy naval use as it requires way more micro in game.
@@soul1d there is: just make a chain of waypoints and the left click on the first waypoint again to complete the patrol order, should show as a line of purple dots to indicate that its working.
Your satellites helped your opponents more than they helped you. You should have put them on polar orbits over atlantic and the pacific ocean. Next up: no SAMs or navy allowed, just satellites and fighters.
Perhaps have your DD picket lines actively patrol vs being in a static line prior to the war kicking off. That's what I did when the free trial was out - seemed to find and kill a lot of SSBNs that way. Park a few in the usual spawning locations (Russia up near Alaska, for example). The DD's also appear to be effective forward SAM sites to intercept many before the MIRVs split. Having even more DDs, in depth, on the typical axis of attack will provide defense in depth.
What I did was just pause, then go down the line of ships and put in a series of back and forth way points over the area I wanted them to patrol. But yeah, being able to control a line of ships as one would be handy.
@@Token_Civilian Dev just explained that it's already a feature in the game: Shift+click to add waypoints, finish on one of them to set a patrol pattern (it will switch to violet circles path)
Those defensive lines of destroyers and the wide-open gaps in them gave me the feeling of there being 10 roads to Rome, blocking 7 of those and going "no way in or out". Like the approach, though! Also good to know that ordinary subs are basically a waste of time and resources, and the destroyers west of Greenland was a smart move against ICBMs from Vladimir.
Yeah and parking all those destroyers way too far from his coast. They would have better served within the range of the SSBNs, they aren't going to fire from Hawaii to LA lol

Something I have noticed is that you have placed your same sites in a way that only a few can shoot at any one missile. Lined on the coast like that. You should layer them more. Two sams can shoot at the same missile, and either fail, or succeed. If one succeds the other wasted its shots. For coastal towns its necessary, but more islands should have its own sams to shoot at things that got past the first ones.
I would love to see you try out this strategy again, but with more focus on satellites. I think they could be very effective against MIRVs since they can catch them when still together.
Looking at what happened, I think that having at least one airbase on continuous ASM duty (with ASMs and limited range to not fly over Bosporus because a DD showed up on radar) would give some results, but on the other hand, it could be too much tech to get without going into alliances
I wonder if it is feasible to bomb enemy cities with conventional weapons. For the Hunter Killers, IMO they should be able to use the SSM underwater. Even it requires a tech prerequisite.
The Picket Line is too far from the coastline, I would close the distance when i realized there are a lot of SSBN, Those DD serve as the first interceptor and probably do better
you should have kept your picket line way closer to your shores ... less units needed and less likely to have sneak-by's ... also the ships then can shoot at those mirvs that this time were launched in their backs
So... Stealth's 'raiding' groups and satellites were quite effective at shooting down missiles. So effective in fact, *SPOILER* that they gave the win to West Asia... Stealth's attacking forces and satellites shot down missiles aimed at the people he was attacking and spying on... YOU GAVE THE WIN TO THE ENEMY. I wish there was an option to ignore missiles not aimed at you.
Huh. I think the submarines are allowed to fire their missiles underwater, provided the target is a surface asset? IDK. They appeared to be firing missiles tho, too fast and too long range to be torpedoes.
It's an old video, I realize; but you don't have any upgrades for your submarine engines. I think this is why your submarines are so weak, because they are easy to spot and your opponents presumably focused sub tech.
Yeah. I would appreciate a function that would tell the destroyers/subs to auto patrol in a given region. If you can't defend everything by standing still, it's better to move around and search.
