With just a couple months of riding, I'd go to Bentonville. But I guess it depends how much you've progressed in those couple months. I had been mountain biking about 6 months when I made this video.
Here it is over a year later... knowing what you know now, would you have set up your suspension/tire pressure any differently? Either way, what would you recommend? TIA
I don't mess with my suspension too much. Just set the sag at 20-30%, and everything else is about in the middle. I'll generally just adjust the sag then based on how close I come to bottoming out. I want to be right on that line so I'm actually using all of the available travel.
Thanks for replying! The reason I ask is that I run into just a bit of "hard scrabble", like what you ran into, just a few hours north of Bentonville on the 'Two Rivers' trails. When it's fast and loose like that I have tried slowing down my rebound (I only have one type... I think it's "high speed") and that seems to have stopped my fork from reacting so violently. Finding that "how low can you go" tire pressure has smoothed my ride also. Up top, I only have a "compression" that ends in "lock out"... I am under the impression that upping the compression incrementally decreases the travel so I only really adjust it on long, sustained downhills like rock gardens mixed with ledges where I find myself continuously lower in the travel than I feel comfortable. I think it helps hold the handlebars up higher and increases my safety since getting tired on those features increases my chance of going over-the-bars. I might also approach the "lockout" (but not actually reach it) on longer climbs but, since I rarely "session", I'm not sure if it really helps. LOL Heck, I know that you didn't ask... I just thought I'd put my experiences out there to see if anyone else would like to correct me or to tell us how they fiddle with their knobs (if at all). Thanks for sharing your rides with us and keep the greasy side down! ;)
That’s a great video Huntstyle! Your footage is insane and it seems like you had a fantastic day out there on the trail! We want you to share it on Campfire so you can have a chance to be featured on our tv show, SENT! Upload it here! campfire.outsidetv.com/home
Huntstyle next time you come in Lets meet up in Bentonville what you'll ride is what we the locals roll, no need for GPS its's more of a "catch me if you can" type-ride. Intermediate riding by the way
hey Kevin Saturday 5/26 riding out of Lake Bella Vista into Blowing Springs 8-9 mile ride if you're up for it. I ride an Orange/Blue Giant Anthem i'll be parked by the Veterans Memorial wall pedaling out 12:45pm : )
Sweet! I live in the Dallas area. I will definitely be back up there soon as spring arrives! I want to hit the downhill flow track at SP and work on jumps!
I know I'm a year behind. I want to take a trip though. Only been riding a couple months. Bentonville or spider mnt?

I think you are right. More fun to just get on a trail and go.
Been back to Slaughter Pen and love it, though! Some really great trails there!
Glad to hear it. I live in NE Louisiana and Bentonville is not far. But first planning a ride on Womble.
@@markking8274 Womble is good. Some brutal climbing! Bring plenty of energy bars!
You should video dinner after your ride and tell us more about your MTB ride. But I had fun watching you ride, thx for sharing.
I would add more, but analytics tell me most people don't care! :)

@@jdavis417 This is talking about motorcycles, but it's the same thing: lifeatlean.com/teach-me-suspension-compression-and-rebound-damping/
Oh... correction... I have "low-speed" compression. Thanks! ;)
Any plans to ride Coler next time? I had a lot of fun there. I found it late in the day so I only had time to do one trip up and down.
Yeah, I still need to get to that one. Can't even come close to covering everything in one weekend!
Where were yoi camping? I'm heading to Bentonville in two days and haven't found any camping areas.
Prairie Creek Campground in Rogers, right on Beaver Lake. They aren't open until April 1, though.
Christopher Anderson they camp at the base there. And spots at coler where they allow camping
Great videos! What campground did you stay at? It looks like a beautiful spot.
Thanks! It was right on Beaver Lake in Rogers.
