  • This is a video I made few years ago..since that time I learned even more to tweak and tweak the most efficient way to recover gold from pay dirt from the river and I just made this small video of my new and much improved sluice:
    • Gold Panning Highbanke...
    As soon as the river thaw I will make another video to show you how efficient it is.
    Thanks for watching !!!

    I checked the tailings and they essentially contain no more gold. I will try to pan one shovel of the bank dry dirt next time to see if there is more gold in it. Thanks buddy !!

      Yes they are. I have re-modified that sluice since that time and I’m planning to take the time to film next time I go to the river. Keep an eye on my channel. Thanks for watching !

    Killer trommel 👍🏼👍🏼

      Thanks Patrick ! I still have that set up but I improved it by fitting the trommel on top of the bottom sluice more kind of fixed such that I have 2 less metal legs to carry with me. I also bought a LiPo4 battery ( 75 amphour ) to cut the weight of the battery from ~45 lbs to about 22 lbs... huge weight saving there as well. I checked often the stuff coming out of the sluice and there is essentially no gold flake ( flour gold in fact ) in it. Reliability is also almost 100%....so the key is “volume” and to get I would say at least 20 flakes or more in a base pan to make it fun and worth it.

      😳😳Holy Crap you replied.... Dude thanks man that’s awesome no one has ever replied to me before👍🏼👍🏼. I’m in the middle of building portable rig of some sort. I’ve acquired a used gold cube on the cheap at a garage sale for $5 couldn’t believe it. I’ve ordered 2 VRT mats for it be here Wednesday and I’ve got a fat wheel cart I’m gonna mount everything on. Im excited to get it going. Thanks again for the reply and “Black Sands and Full Pans” my friend👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

      @@patricks.hafersr.8723 Same good luck to you Patrick. Your set up looks cool ! The chase of how much gold you will find each time you go searching for gold and the joy of looking at your set up and see it working and figuring how to continuously improve it is what I found awsome in that hobby....have fun !!

    should return rocks to the river afterwards

    • @mrgold7181
      @mrgold7181  2 года назад

      You are absolutely right….in fact that is one of my belief to be friendly with the environment as much as I can…for example this is why I use a deep cycle battery as oppose to use a gas pump…less noise and less CO2 emission….I recharge my house, cars and batteries with our solar panels installed on our roof at home. That way we have a fully consistent clean as clean energy cycle as we can. For the rocks I normally either use a rake or once I have a big enough hole, I start to install my sluice in the hole I dug to fill it back with the next day. Thanks Patrick for your very appropriate comment and thanks for watching ! Bye !

    Wow all of that shovelings, for that amount of gold. You could make a lot more money, shovelings, in construction, mixing masonry with the Shabel.

      You are right but I do that hobby for the pleasure of the technology of mining and the processus of separation and recovery of gold and to enjoy beautiful days at the river….also trying to understand where will the gold flakes accumulate in the river is always fun to understand ! Thanks for watching

      Thanks Jan ! I started by buying the bottom sluice ( Cascade ) which was not very efficient…then by looking at other videos and programs like Yukon Gold or Gold Rush or Aussie Gold….I found a very rare small trommel from makeyourowngoldbar.com and I fitted myself on top of the bottom sluice, then I fabricated the PVC washing system to wash properly the rocks. I also wanted to have a system fully electric…..but since then I just totally revamped my sluice with a new design….which will be even more reliable, increased recovery , simpler, lighter, etc….I am just waiting that the ice melts !!…then I will be posting more, NEW videos. You should view my latest highbanker video on my youtube chanel….it is really worth it Jan. Thanks for watching !!

      Hi John. Thanks for your comment. This was one of my first videos. This year I have a new setup to access the river ( kayak with 2 electric trolling motors ) and I have improved slightly my sluice / trommel electric combo. I will try to add some live comments to explain my setup, where the gold flakes seems to accumulate, etc. Bye John.

    where can i get this set up

    • @mrgold7181
      @mrgold7181  6 лет назад +1

      Hello John, I bought the Cascade sluice and the Trommel from makeyourowngoldbars.com from Steve and Julie. Very nice people. I asked them to put a screen of 1/8" on the trammel because of the type of river rock we have here in Alberta and the fact that it is mostly flour gold. I use a 750-1100 gph bilge from Seaflo because the Shoreline bilge pumps use way more electricity for the same flow. I bought the deep cycle battery from Canadian Tire, a 65 amp-hr that last about 8 hours straight. Let me know if this helps and if you need any other information. Have fun !

      Thank you for replying I really appreciate are you overall happy with your purchase can it keep 2 people busy on daily basis can it hold up and how often fo you clean out and how is recovery of small gold do you use extension or no thanks for letting me pick your brain save me time

      Honestly, since I tuned it more and more each time I went out in the last ~2 years, I'm now very, very confident that this is one of the most efficient set-up you can get with the minimum effort and the extreme portability of the set-up. Also, the fact it is fully electric is absolutely great in my opinion. No gas pollution and noise pollution. Depending of the type of rocks you are facing with and the type of gold (like I said, here it is flour gold, very tough to catch in theory), you can tune the mesh you would like to use on the trammel screen....me I found that 1/8" is just perfect combined withe the V mat from makeyourowngoldbars.com. I often took a pan of the stuff coming out of the sluice and I would say that there is probably 3-4 flakes of a shovel that contained probably ~80-100 flakes....so the recovery is in fact pretty good especially for flour gold. Because the sluice run in the cascade sluice is about ~24 inches long and 7" wide, I do a "clean-up" every ~15-20 minutes to make sure I lose nothing but mostly because it is good to take a break each 20 minutes of shovelling. I found that if I shovel a net 3-3.5 hours of shovelling that I'm ok for the day.....at ~180-240 shovels an hour....that is a lot of material for 1 guy....so if you are 2 guys, then this set-up will keep you busy easily for the day.....the last improvement you could think of would be some sort of mini-mini dredge like the one Tony Beets use in Gold Rush to get the material directly to the feed part of the trommel.....that would be awesome ! Bottom line, keep me aware of what you are doing as I really, really like doing what I'm doing with that set-up and finding the gold is really cool ! I found in the river that the Gold seems to concentrate at the interface of the clay and the river rocks along the inside bend of the river....so not necessarily in the middle of the river or super deep....just an info for you. Let me know how you will be making John !! Bye !

      I forgot to mention that the recovery of the Blue Bowl is about 97.5% on average and I measure things pretty precisely...normally what I do is to reprocess the concentrate twice in the Blue Bowl to get a recovery of almost 99% overall. Also, the piping I'm using is a 3/4" ID hose pipe that I combined with Gardena Maxi Flow connectors.....that way the pressure drop created by the piping is almost none and this allow you to use the smallest bilge pump as possible to consume the least amount of energy from the battery which allow you to either have the lightest battery as possible and/or run for longer hours without having to worry about the battery life during your day....so the only thing left you need to concentrate is: where is the most concentrated gold in the ground and to maximize the amount of dirt you put through the trammel/sluice now that the recovery is extremely high and the reliability is almost 99%+.

      Man I can tell your really good guy I am gone to look into getting this asap I will go with 1/4 inch mesh in my area and 3/8 inch mesh out west as I do get small nuggets enough to be concerned. I will also run metal detector over my tailings to make sure no bigger nuggets getr thru they are there lol also i will use an extension since I usually set up once and leave set up til i leave id feel better with a 4 to 5 foot homade sluice extension. I absolutely will keep intouch with you one day maybe we can work together who knows just a feeling.
