I've been on a mission to find the best packrafter. I love people pushing the limits of what these things are capable of!Based on what I've seen of posted content I would say it's between you, Mark Oates, and Tom Diegel. Keep up the good work! You provide a great example of where I hope to be!
Hey there. If you're still out there, would love to know where you put in and took out. I've been up in that country for most of my life, especially just south of Colorado border where the Los Pinos drops into Toltec Gorge, but don't recognize the sections in your cool video. I'm heading down there in a few weeks to visit family. Favorite place in the world.
Jeffrey, would you mind if I use a few clips from your video, in a video I am working on? I would of course give you full credit. Let me know or send me a message to discuss if you like.
For long, continuous rapids you have to develop comfort with being upside down, or the potential for being upside down. Many people including talented athletes never develop that comfort (understandably). As far as the technical paddling skills, as a packrafter-only, it took me 4-5 years to work up to a river like this one.
As a whiter water kayaker (no packrafting) it took me 3-4 years to manage those kind of rapids and it took me ~3 years to be comfortable while upside down. But trust me ... it is worth it. This sport is the best. In a kayak or packraft, boat does not matter. The rivers are just amazing to go down.

Brilliant, loved the track played by Uk band Traffic, such a distinctive voice Steve Winwood.
Excellent in every way: style, music, edit, water, boat....keep it up while keeping those lungs filled with air, please!
I think the hardest part has to be fitting balls that big in a packraft.
why ? doesnt look really dangerous
Yet again: amazing! :) Thanks Jeff for making the effort to put these videos together and upload them.
thanks Adrian. hope to see you on WW!
I want so badly someone who can teach me how to drive such a fast rapid with a packraft. It looks so funny. Cheers Tom
3:10 nice brace.
Outstanding reel, as always.
That rivals some of the rowdiest packraftin' I've been seeing. Got my stoke way up there! Now to make it to the lower 48...
Nice work boys, this looks awesome!!

Sierra Vandera to Vallecito res.
Were you able to paddle all the way out to the reservoir?
Yeah, the lower section is nice, you just have to put in on natl forest and find a public takeout on the reservoir.

This looks like so much fun. How long would it take an athletic person without experience to handle rapids of this level?
