I think I've been into upper vallecito 6 or 7 times now, if that's a measure. Definitely more wood now than Ive seen before, but the best upper gorge section is wood free for the first time in 10 years at least.

On Vallecito, did you paddle past the point where the trail first drops down to the creek?
Just barely - there are two good drops there where you can still take out above entrance falls.
