Hey man gatta say me and my uncle have been watching you for the last few months and you have been a total inspiration! He is a disabled vet and has had some troubles but now thanks to you and 3 strings we have found a god send we are working on our first two 3 strings and we have been using your videos for reference but they are well on there way! Keep up your videos there an inspiration. We are even thinking about a full blown channel
That round box is just about perfect for that build. I would say you are a lucky duck to find it but Oregon is full of Lucky Ducks, especially in Eugene. Thanks for sharing!
That’s what’s so cool about building CBGs - you start with a box and an idea, run into some challenges, adjust on the fly, and end up with something special. This was fun to watch, and the sound is great! Of course, your playing would make a brick with strings sound good.
Alway's good to see you showing us those wonderful instruments. Unfortunately, I do not have for the moment wood workshop, I miss working on my cigar box idea. Good job with this one, thank you for sharing.
Newby question.. would have glueing the piezo to the bottom of the paint lid not have been appropriate?.. and it seems like having the bridge way back on the lid insead of in the center like a resonator didnt have an effect on sound... Totally inspired by yourself and other CBG resonators .. this is definitely my next build... Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
That’s groovy man, I talked to louie LaManna about you he said you were a alright kind guy. He praised you for your guitars and a very talented builder as well playing the guitar. Just thought it would make your day,😎
That is such a cool sounding instrument! You've inspired me to have a go at it. Maybe a round aluminum cake pan for the body and a wood top with the paint can resonator. Glue some wood blocks on the inside of the pan to attach the top. Might be a bit simpler than your build. Thanks for all the fun and instructive videos you do - excellent stuff!
The best vids are the ones where you build something. One tip: please don’t mute the sound when you’re working on the saw. That sound is Like ASMR and addictive! It calms the soul
Sir know this your loved in many ways ,inspiration you help with paradigm shifts . Thank you . Love that paint canjo I'm a 44 year Painter . The box I'm building at this time is 4 1/4 in depth 10.5 length know this your helping me overcome a Math glitch I was born with numbers jumble in my head lol that's the only way I could say that I see you as a God send in many ways ,I don't care what people think or say I'm me like your you All Sir original i mean that with Mad Respect ,at age 21 I broke a Ford F150 into two pieces ,my body was whole but my mind cracked in some way for months afrer i lost fragments of history ,I met the God that night the one mankind says dont exist ,and yet fears the truth before them and runs from Him , He's not the one preached by men today, this isn't a conversion post lol you either Believe or ya don't period, enough said I see Gods gifting within you and your Amazing grace He enjoyed it . Have a beautiful Sabbath weekend .
Hey! That looks like the same drill press I have. Got mine at Harbor Freight for about 60 bucks and am quite happy with it. My only complaint is that it’s not tall enough to let me drill into the end of most boxes, but that’s a small problem.
Great build, can the next one you build put the resonating head in the other side so it could be an optional open back style? Would love to hear what that would sound like. Thank you again for a great build!
Super cool. Have you done a workshop tour video yet? I’d love to see the entire set up in chronological order relative to a “typical” (cuz I know you love that word) build.
I wish there was like a "Rocksmith" type learning cd or something similar for these 3 string cigar box guitars. Sorry I'm guitar illiterate, I need all the help I can get, on the other hand, I am NOT "build" illiterate, I can't wait to start building 1 or 10 of these, I especially want to make this banjo build, although I am having a hard time finding something suitable for this size and shape. Suggestions welcome!
I suspect, but cannot confirm, that as you learn how to build them, you will gain knowledge concerning the mechanics of the instrument. So armed with this knowledge, when you go back to playing it, you will be able to intuit much of the fiddly bits based on knowing how each part affects the other.
Bridge saddles are traditionally bone, but good one can be made with a fret wire. It’s important to get a good ‘break’ angle as the string passes over it, so the bridge has to be high enough. The threaded rod does two things, it raises the strings off the top and it spaces the strings apart. When you abandon the threads, you have to find another way to control the string spacing. Same thing at the nut end. I think you will like your results! Good luck!
@@trackie1957 thanks for the information! So far have only built fretless sliders but have materials and now looking forward to trying this out. Del makes it look effortless, but learning is half the fun. Hohoho!
Got my box today!!! Gonna start my build this weekend. I’m going to try tuning to G-D-B... so I know the chords. Have you used that tuning? Any pros/cons with that tuning?
Nope, not this time, a can is a can. The thing about a good build is that it needs to be replicable. Needless to say though, it's another beautiful piece of art.
A terrific sound.......... Just a note... Found this video of you. ruclips.net/video/uvH8uNfCEtg/видео.html. (Great hat). Question - is it possible to have CBG that is adapted to improve its percussion capacity?

Nice.
LOVE the sound of wood-top banjo's! IMO better sound than a regular banjo! And they paint can lid resonator adds another dimension to it!
wood-top resonator chromatic dulcijo/banjimer
Dude that is so awesome. Great tone from that thing, and it really is a looker.

tuned in DAD, DAC, DAA, or FAD would sound cool

I will not be surprised when you post a video of your brick guitar.

Proud to call you a friend and proud to finally own one of these things.
That thing looks sweet as hell and sounds awesome! Would love to hear an amplified demo. Thanks for sharing!
Would love to make one of these to play new orleans jazz on. Love the sound of it!

Thank you Stephane!! 😎
I thought the box was a tin!
No wonder it sounded so good 👍💥👍
Dude, I absolutely love this! Now I've got to build one.

Sweet! I will have to keep an eye out for those boxes.

Agree! Happy I'm not the only weirdo who finds power tools noise super calming 😂
Dude. My wife is a skilled intarsia artist, she makes her scroll saw walk and talk. Hearing that thing chugging away is a balm.
Looks and sounds awesome.
nicely done
wonderful sound
Way cool! Thanks for sharing :)
Loved the vid you’re a funny dude! I’ve been wanting to build one for a while and I think I’m gonna this next week.
Go for it! 😜👍🏽
I'm not very musically inclined and don't sing but I enjoy your videos.
Sounds more like a shamisen if the pick were to be a bachi

Hey, do you sell these ? I'd love to have one of my own
Oh thats damn awesome ...that sound is fannnnntastic !!
You could make a box and a rubber band sound good
Your so darn funny 😂😂😂 Love that Canjo
That’s bloody awesome!
Those are some sweet cigars
This is so freaking cool wow

Love the look and sound! You could be the CanjoBanjoMan! Trying to move from threaded bolts to bridges, is there a video? Thanks!

Would a square cigar box work too. Or does it need to be round

Hello i m french.quelle sont les cordes que vous utilisez et la marque svp mer i a vous et joli travail.
How do you trace out your lid. Or do you have a template?
What was the name on that round cigar box so we can look for them more easily? And as always Thankyou Del!
LTD... with a half moon 🌙 logo
Sorry if I missed it in the video, but what type of strings did you use on this guy?
Nicely done Sir 👍🏻👍🏻
Love the creative way you solved the challenges with the round box. Does this instrument have the usual back angle notched in the neck - 3/16 to 3/8?
I incorporate the back angle into every build.... just makes sense to me...
Where did you get that box?
Id like to know how you made the circular body! looks great
Came that way
Nope, not this time, a can is a can. The thing about a good build is that it needs to be replicable.

I need this
have you ever made a cigar box guitar where the strings are doubled up like a mandolin or 12 string guitar, i think that'd be really cool
ruclips.net/video/DfLGJeXfyNE/видео.html
There's a thought!
First CBG with a whammy bar ????
Or a B Bender ??
@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar perfect for EBE lol
Although hard to fit
Something to think about 😁
Sounds awesome
Thanks Del!!!
Now you need a women's hat box bass.
This makes me wonder about using a lid from a cookie tin. Steel, nice and wide, who knows?
Yes Yes YES!!!!!
Dang
25 cents!!??? I’ve wanted to make one, but have to by the paint can with the lid for $5 bucks!!
J'adore, magnifique ;)
Very cool, where did you get the lids from?
Phil Cooke You can get the lids- along with pretty much everything else- at CB Gitty (not affiliated with CG Gitty btw)
@@walrtbstudios5430 thanks.
Ace
Where’s a place to by just the paint can lids cheap? Thanks Del. Come on back anytime….. Jack
Went to a paint store and they gave me some! Along with yard sticks. Lowes wanted me to buy the can.
I'm guessing what sound this would have with nylon strings...
Very cool! 👍✌
Most impressive. My hat's off to you sir (but not for long, bald heads burn easily).
Cool
hmm.. Paint Can tops
But that means I dont get to use the Guitar Excuse to buy & eat a bunch of cookies or popcorn for the tins
My local Ace Hardware sells them for .25 cents
Cookies cost more though, so...
AMAZING
Sir good morning pls Fretboard mejarment
Can I have one for free?
nice,
Not a canjo. It's a resonator CBG.
cool
Not bad, pertty good, aaaight.......
Twang on!
Sweeet!
👍
👍🏽
On second thought ..
They’re addicting
