Seven weeks ago I resigned from my 26 year career in banking! I didn’t want to do it anymore. Too much crap to deal with day in and day out. So resigning cut our household income in half. I’ve been job searching but mostly trying to figure out what I would enjoy doing! I have appreciated your timely wisdom!!
I needed to see and hear this. I can say that I have been on this treadmill for a long time, going nowhere in life making the people I work for rich while I struggle financially. I appreciate the video we all need a kick in the ass from people other than our friends and family. Time for change.
This is motivation. My wife and I recently had our fourth kid so I got to spend some extended time at home and it was an eye of not wanting to go back to that 9-5. I am back to it because I have a family to provide but the mental has shifted and I think that's the start.
Way to go Gabe! Always good when the world rewards someone financially that is actually genuine and not a fake and a sellout. I’m thankful the internet has rewritten the playbook on how people gather and monetize attention.
Your channel is one of a handful that really inspired me to take the steps & make the effort to start building to break away from the ‘normal’ life setup. I’m so sick of it. Started making moves 2-3 months ago, now I’m almost at 500 subs on youtube (a different channel), getting my design skills up to start getting freelance work in the next 3-6 months, and will be buying a property to rent out early next year as I’ve got things in place to do that now. Thanks again man - your journey & progress really showed me it’s possible & that you don’t have to accept a regular lifestyle.
At 76 I still work 2 1/2 months of the year doing taxes, I’ve worked from myself since the late 90s because I can’t stand to work for other people. But now I just do taxes and have my other retirement income.
I’ve been enjoying your endings lately lol! But I agree. We are all meant for so much more,,, but taking that leap is scary and uncomfortable and we have to want it enough and know that it IS possible! Thank you for being so real and raw here!
Gabe, Thank you so much for posting this video (and many others). It really resonated with me and gave me some renewed motivation. I was in a job just like that for almost 12 years. Quit and started working on my business and pursuing other income sources. It's been just over 14 months. I have had my ups and downs. Staying motivated is certainly difficult. However, now I make about 2/3 of what I made previously and have an incredible amount of freedom and time to do the things that matter to me. I appreciate you, your journey, your story, and your wisdom.
I never comment on any of your videos but I enjoy listening not necessarily mean I agree with everything you say. However you inspire me. I found you after I bought my house and I had zero furniture for months. As a single month for two t, and now with one child on college the decision was scary as hell. But the main trigger was That I switched jobs with better opportunities but that meant to Start from zero again in my life. I’m so glad and I can honestly tell you I’ll do it again if is the best for me and my girls. Eventually I would like to be more financially independent but slowly working my way that direction. Any little counts toward that goal. Please keep up with your videos. I find them extremely motivating. This video hit home to me cause it reminded me how I left an abusive relationship over night and I see my life back and I’m so much happier now.
Very good video Gabe! Ive been watching minimalist/finance videos on and off for years but you really make it feel like im listening to a friend, genuine and realistic. Thanks man!
True i also feel that way i don't like working a 9-5 job but i have to do it, but thank you for trying to help and showing other ways to make life work for you, i also don't need alot and would love to travel and see the world
Working 8 to 5 sux ( I was never lucky enough to find a place where you only have to work 9 to 5). Good for you Gabe! ANYTHING is better than being stuck at a job you hate for a lot of hours.
No Gabe it did not come off like you nagging on 9-5. I love my 9-5, it fulfills me and leaves me time for me. I liked this video anyways. It is the life for many people and you are nudging those who need nudged.
I'm in this position myself where I am doing everything I can to get out of the rat race. I am being frugal and working in a side business that is starting to grow. Ince I can scale it I am out of here 😃 Thank you Gabe you are a true inspiration 🙏🙏
You have to take into account that some people stay in 9-5s due to their work pensions. If they have been paying in for some years and the company has a matching contributions scheme then if they leave their job they lose out on a pretty substantial amount as the company will withdraw their contributions and cash you out. In a sense they are trapped by their retirement eligibility.
I am in a position where I don’t have to work my 9-5 and I have a side business that makes me money while I’m at my job. But I can’t leave because for some reason loosing my benefits scares me alittle. But I would like more freedom with my time!
I’m on this journey right now. Failure is not an option. It’s not even about money. It’s about personal freedom and independence. I know with everything inside of me that a 9-5 M-F work schedule is not for me. I’ve known this for a while but have failed to act on it. There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
Great Video. I started my RUclips channel specifically for this reason. Between the videos, my website, and Amazon, I'm pushing for that day that I can do what I love full time and leave my day job for good. Thanks for the encouragement.
You could invest in stocks, start a side business, or focus on advancing your career. It's important to set goals and make a plan. Remember, wealth can mean different things to different people,One thing i can say that helped me in life to reach my first million was starting early, i got curious and informed i became open to passive income, investments in equities , etfs and the likes. Also sought help to handle my portfolio which was my foundation. i'm ever grateful to Susan Kay Mack my FA.
Looks like she really knows her stuff. I also found her online page and read through her resume, educational background, qualifications and it was really impressive.
Totally understand that, I'm going through this at the moment trying to get to that point where I can dictate the hrs I work, cause this seriously isn't life working so hard to be living paycheck to paycheck thanks for ur vids they help a lot, keep the effort 😁
This topic of choosing the way we make our money and breaking free from the 9-5 is one of the main pillars to my channel - I think everyone should push the limits they think they have, just get a taste of what's possible and go for it 💪🏻 Just like you have 🙌🏻
I got stuck with grand jury service for the next 5 weeks. I still plan on working my regular job full time, so jury duty kind of became my side hustle. Doesn't pay much and I'm sure I'll be bored, but it'll be an extra ~$550 that I wouldn't have had along with a new experience.
I am definitely in this rut right now. I'm enjoying my job right now, but i don't know how much longer I will feel this way. I do find that it can be paralyzing. It definitely makes me feel scared when I don't know what passions I have that can create an income.
What you're addressing is the least understood part of our Bill of Rights, "The Pursuit of Happiness". I'm glad that you described the main component your pursuit had to have; ownership. Most people never even think to analyze what would make them feel jazzed about their lives; then wonder why achieving their dreams doesn't feel as exciting as they thought it would. Keep on keepin' on, Gabe.
I’m so blessed and glad not doing creativity, artistic, construction, writing, minimalism, house hacking, etc. We ended up homeless and suffering and in debt and caused tremendous additional unnecessary stress. There are other legal ethical ways to live and not live simply or become homeless and I’m glad I no longer buy that atheist delusion and instead just embrace what God says.
To make other people rich? That makes no sense because that’s exactly what you’re doing by renting your home Gabe. People all over the Internet condemn other people for what they are doing then do it themselves. There’s nothing wrong with people renting the homes they themshelves buy to a Point. But when someone has 8000 homes I feel it’s not right. I do t feel properties should be takin but at some point there needs to be limits on land & homes. Paris Hilton has like 30,000 hotels & stores it ridiculous
Most of my depression in life is because of this friggin rat race, but I have mouths to feed and bills to pay so I cannot afford to not be earning for any period of time no matter how short. It's definitely a trap
I think that it's hard, no matter your age. It's frightening, the unknown. Don't focus on the fear, learn as much as you can and take small steps. It takes time and work and prayer.
Background music to loud and distracting... you do NOT need it!... don't do stuff just become RUclips says it will increase you listeners staying on a video!... yes it might be true for brainless channels, but its not necessary for informative channels like yours!
So done with 9-5 but still stuck! Depressed! Your videos are helping every day.

I hate 9-5 corporate bs. I will be pulling the plug soon - I've been planning for years.
“It’s never too late, to be what you might have been.”
I needed to see and hear this.

Glad I could help kick you 😂 for real though if nothing changes nothing changes
@@GabeBult VERY TRUE..

Gabe, this is by far your best video: non-pushy, genuine, authentic. Chapeau!
Thanks!

Great story, 9-5 is definitely a grind. Working and investing hyper aggressively to buy my freedom.

THIS!!!!! . I left a career of 18 years, sold my house, changed everything AND I'M SO MUCH HAPPIER!!!!
True i also feel that way i don't like working a 9-5 job but i have to do it, but thank you for trying to help and showing other ways to make life work for you, i also don't need alot and would love to travel and see the world
You can get there! Took me 5 years to make the leap but the sooner you start somthing else the sooner it can grow
Woah that was raw probably one of the best videos you have done
it's obviously a subject you're very passionate about. appreciate you Gabe!❤
Working 8 to 5 sux ( I was never lucky enough to find a place where you only have to work 9 to 5). Good for you Gabe! ANYTHING is better than being stuck at a job you hate for a lot of hours.
Agree, most jobs are really more like start at 8am at the latest and still work to 5pm. It has been a grind for best part of 30 something years.
i worked 9 to 7 :/
No Gabe it did not come off like you nagging on 9-5. I love my 9-5, it fulfills me and leaves me time for me. I liked this video anyways. It is the life for many people and you are nudging those who need nudged.
Most 9-5's are a trap, the company owns you. Eventually you become complacent and just accept being owned rather than owing their own life
Thank you for taking the leap. I hope to gain the same courage.
I'm in this position myself where I am doing everything I can to get out of the rat race. I am being frugal and working in a side business that is starting to grow. Ince I can scale it I am out of here 😃 Thank you Gabe you are a true inspiration 🙏🙏
You’re my favorite RUclipsr!!!! This is me to the core! I know I just need to start 😀
You can do it! 💪🏻
Starting seems like the hardest part, every journey begins with the first step
You have to take into account that some people stay in 9-5s due to their work pensions. I'll be there someday. Making some extreme changes soon after my daughter takes off for college
Let the journey begin on a new life ✅
You changed my life. Im gonna get there in 5 to 7 years!
That’s awesome 👏
This video hits home for a lot of us. Life is stressful, don't cut corners, instead create paths.
Love that!!

Consistently investing in quality dividend paying companies over the long term is a relatively easy strategy to create generational wealth
Looks like she really knows her stuff. I also found her online page and read through her resume, educational background, qualifications and it was really impressive.
i feel i downplayed the role of FA's in the past.. now actively looking to get one.
Truly Stocks, ETFs and Mutual funds are the best investment decision you can make both short term and long term for steady money flow. Kudos!!

Definitely a smart decision. Live your life. Sounds lame but we seriously only have one life.
Thanks 🙏 I agree
it's obviously a subject he's very passionate about. appreciate you Gabe!❤
I quit my 6 1/2 year job at a casino, a few hours ago. No plan. I feel calm now but will probably panic tomorrow
The 9-5 grind just owns people
Perfectly said. Inspire people to get out from under❤❤❤❤

how do you imagine your ideal life? the question hit me hard
I want to quit my shitty city job I just got with two
Lawsuits around me and 50 I am scared although I have no kids nor mortgage
Never say never. Never!
I’m good with saying it lol
@@GabeBult But you will never know what tomorrow will bring you😃 Life likes jokes
Brilliant as always 💚 We really don't need a lot of stuff! Do you think you hit bottom for you to change?
It wasn’t bottom but you need motivation to make huge life changes
Thank you.
What a dumb system that no one else could cover.

lol I didn’t at the time. Like I said I was making $500 a month at the time from RUclips not much of anything
