From what I gather, if the TX Pros are triggered 80cm before their position, then it would be uneccessary to place them any differently if you were timing flys. The advice about measuring an additonal 80cm only applies when using the touchpad to start.
Does the e-Starter need to be set up how the Juniors are set up when not doing count down start? E.g. 80cm from start line as Junior is 80cm from finish line.
The TX junior pro (yellow devices) collect times when they pass them and usually this is in one direction ie a start and finish and lap time is collated over 60m as an example. If the athlete walks back past the transmitters it can re trigger the system. So I don’t think it would work if with this practise the athlete has to shuttle back and forth between the transmitters. I will however look further into this and see what I can find out.
I own a free lap system and use it to train sprinters and cross country runners. Do you need the starter button switch or can you just place a transmitter at start line, move athlete back 80cm and start?

Yes, it’s important to place the freelap cone 80 cm beyond the actual distance.

Can this system measure 100,150 and 200m runs?
Can you use free lap for 5-10-5 shuttle timing? It's a football combine drill that is standard practice at all levels

John Shepherd track & field coach - author & editor can the tx junior pro alone be used to time accurately?

yeah you can just place a cone transmitter there and push the button on the front to put the light in the start position.
