Man, I'm so glad you made this. I went off some written instruction off a few of the Ram forums and they left me hanging. Your video cleared it all up and now my stuff works. Thanks brother!
Amazing video! Thank you for making this. I just did this update and the TPMS update (make sure to watch his video on that as well). Also, you can pull the 4-Digit pin from alpha OBD2 as well. You do not necessarily have to go to the dealer. Absolute game changer. I was so sick of the chime every single time I started the truck (tmps related), in addition to the truck not shifting right and my miles per gallon and everything else seem to be completely off after upgrading to the tire size I currently have (315/70R17). Just took the truck for test drive, night and day difference, and huge improvement in shift patterns. I can't believe I waited as long as I did. If you guys are thinking about doing this, you should. This video is a great tutorial, and it gives a step-by-step procedure to doing it. The only thing that definitely seemed to be a little worrisome was when all the Chimes and warning lights went off for the abs after doing the tire size. But if you follow the video to the tee, it goes away.
Finally got around to doing this to my 2018. I put the laptop in the front seat and just start /stopped you through this and TPMS reset. Easier than I imagined. Thanks for the videos.
I don't comment on many videos, this saved me from making a trip to the dealer. I changed the tire size and all of a sudden no speedometer check engine light and abs light. I freaked out haha. Thank you so much for the video!!

Charles great video easy to follow, I did get the 4wd not available, service trailer brake, no speedo, and heavy steering. This is nothing you did wrong after letting my truck sit for a half hour it cleared its self. I have had to fine tune the size and let it sit every time. Also if you’re not getting an abs fault there is no need to run the abs reset. Hope this helps people with similar problems and thanks again for this great video.
So glad I saw this - I was freaking out. Same exact thing happened but with “AutoPark Disabled” and “Service Air Ride”. Had the heavy steering and no speedo. Let it sit 30 mins and good to go. Had to clear one engine fault but all good. Thanks for this info.

Thanks for this video. I just changed my tires on my '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel 4x4 and went from 265/50/20 to 275/55/20 KO2's and was wondering if the AlphaOBD you have does this same thing you did for the Jeep Grand Cherokee's? Could you check on your AlphaOBD and let us know please. This will make my decision into buying it since there isn't an answer on their website for this question. Thanks a million.
check the error codes and see what it's for. May or may not be related to changing the tire. Sometimes it just gets set off when changing other settings.
@charles pages Thanks! Nicely done video. I have a 2017 2500 and just bought AlfaOBD v2.1.9.4. Sadly it does not have the ABS module ATE/Continental option and AlfaOBD won't connect to the ABS Bosch/Teves/TRW/ PowerNet MY2013-18 PowerNet option. Any thoughts on how to get the right module?

@@sickofpdx I think the last adjustment I made was 2956 but that put my speedometer like 2 mph ahead. Still need to tweak it. Thx again. Hope that helps everyone.

Followed directions, and everything seems fine, but my CEL is on, and i can't seem to find the code to clear it. Anyone else have this issue? Any help is much appreciated
I only wish you where close to NJ....Most dealers and 4whd shops have no clue. I`m willing to pay for someone to correct my tire size..My current tire is LT 315/70R17 Cooper AT3 what would be size in MM.
So I have nexen roadian 315/70R17s and there's no setting for a 315 but I picked 2560mm and it's off by one mph, am I close enough and is that going to cause any transmission issues?
Can you program/calibrate the two axles differently? i.e. 325's (35.4") in the rear and 35's (actually 34.8") up front? I Put on a proper lift so the upgraded control arms etc. front and back will cover geometry, and wouldn't mind getting 3/10" of factory rake back from these lift kits that net -2" Rake change by using shorter rear springs vs. how much they lift the front. Put another way, how would I account for a lesser difference, say 1/3" between front and rear, If I put on new mudders on the back and nearly bald ones of same size in the front??
Great Videos! I have a 2016 Ram PW with Toyo MT 35s and decided to use your setup to adjust tire pressure for off-roading. However, I can’t get any dealership in my area (Olympia, WA) to give me MY key code, even though I have the title and registration...
To adjust tire size perfectly after the initial change, If I go UP in MM it will make my speedo slow down and if I go down in MM (tire size) it will make the speedo faster right? Also do I have to change everything again, I assume so because you are changing sizes again....Thank you!
I let mine sit for five minutes and when I put key back in ignition I didn’t get any faults did I just get lucky with the abs stuff I have a 15 if that matters?
I gotta do this for my 305’s the damn transmission jumps in fourth like I am driving a stick shift lol but getting 35’s so I will have todo this right after that
You know, 2010 Ram 1500 had some 305/45r22 installed, then I decided to go for some MT tires, so I went for some 285/70r17 and there's when my trans started to feel a little bit rough, your know little shudder sometimes, I didn't know that when changing tire size you had to "tell your truck's computer "you did that. Gotta find a decent place with a decent scantool to fix that.
2021 Ram Rebel. Changed tire size to 2760mm I'm running a 325/65R18 now my parking sensors are off and won't come back on. Anyone know why or how to correct this issue.
If I were to install the michelin defender ltx m/s 275/65r18... what do I put down as the tire circumference? TireSize says it has a circumference at 100.7", which is 2557.78mm... how will I know if the system accepts that number/nearest number? Thank you!
2022 RAM, added 33.1 inch tires, up from 31 in (2462 mm). With alfaobd, do you want the speedo to match the actual speed clocked with a GPS app? Or, just use actual circumference of new tires, which is 2642, which makes the speedo run at 2-3 mph faster than actual (compared to GPS speed app)? To get the speedo accurate, I have to reduce mm to 2595, which isn't the actual tire circum, but it make the speedo accurate. Any insights appreciated!
It would really be up to you, but I would personally set it to be accurate with gps speed! Tires are frequently “off” from the specified size, so it would be best if the vehicle knows exactly what size the tires really are.
@@chazpages did every step of video and I still have the same problem I'm starting to think my front passenger abs sensor is bad because sometimes my brakes act weird 🙄 and my abs lights start flashing
Hey thanks for the video, much appreciated. Couple questions. I didn't see where you adjusted the transmission/shift points, is this done by the programmer automatically when tire size is changed? It is a bit unnerving that all these codes happen to your brand new 70K plus vehicle 😳 Are you still using this system today, have you experienced anything that would want you to warn against using now?
The trans shift points and handled by the truck-it just needs to know what size tires are on! I’m still using it today, there are really no downsides since you can always change things back if something is messed up. Just don’t randomly change settings lol.
Hi Charles. I just installed the OBD linkmx + with the adapter. I managed to change the tire size to the exact speed as my GPS. the issue I have now is I've gone from 19 to 20 litres per 100km to now at 28 litres per 100 km. shouldn't my gas mileage be better? would really appreciate if you could help me with this.
I have a 21 ram 1500 5th gen. A local shop told me a PCM unlock by the dealership is necessary for speedometer calibration. Have you ran into this issue?
Is there something I am doing wrong? I have plugged in 2688 and 2730 for my tire size (276/65/20). And either way, it is about 2 mph faster than actual speed. Any thoughts? My tires are not in list.
ABS ATE/Continental doesn’t show up in the list of options for my 2015 Ram 2500, I’m not really sure why lol. I tried it with a different one that has the model year range where 15 would fall in, but it wasn’t going to let me proceed so I backed out and am now redoing some more research…. Any idea why that would be the case on my end?
So far this is great software but I was unable to make a backup to Google drive or even open in chrome. I have made changes and everything works so far and I know what I've changed anyways and the values of original. Any format help would be appreciated though
Did you reset the fuel stuff on accident while coasting down a hill or something? Which would make it calculate the remaining range based on a real high mpg? Did this resolve?
Hello Charles. Thank you for the videos. Could you please help? I've changed my Diff in my '13 SRT 300. The Diff settings have been changed in HP Tuner. The car drives, but I've lost FCW and ACC. If I can recall, it's a speed sensor calibration problem. My Mopar Mechanic fixed this in 10 mins with WiTech, when I did this before. But he's now left the company. Just confirming, Alpha OBD only changes the BCM and not PCM or TCM? I'm very worried I'll damage my Tuner's tune. Any information would be great. Thank you. Duane
Does the truck specify that fcw and acc are unavailable/service them? Or they just don't show up anywhere? I would try resetting/clearing all codes in each module with alpha just to rule those things out. It's possible that an error code was triggered there and now it shows as disabled for you.
@@chazpages Yes, it says that ACC/FCW is unavailable and service is required. Ok, I'll reset/clear all codes, with AlphaOBD. I'll go download the software now. Thank you.

I don't think so/it shouldn't. Although skip the part where you tried to change the tire size, and begin at the steps after that (to try and get rid of the codes). What year is your truck?
Yeah I tried this today no luck the tires were switched but I can't get the ABS to reset it won't even allow me to hit the start button to do the update of the ABS I talked to a guy at Dodge and they said no one's allowed to do that anymore and I'm going to have to buy $200 module now from any Aev , I don't know if anybody has a fix I have 37-inch tires and I guess I'm not going to be able to drive my truck till I get the module let's supposed Plug & Play the EPA is not even allowing people to mess with their Tire in the truck anymore
Programmed the tire size and it took the change. ABS initialization is greyed out though. ABS light is on now with warnings. Tried clearing codes, driving the truck and reconnected AlphaOBD. It connects and the ABS initialization is still greyed out. Bad ABS pump or module? Code: C0020
@@kbraulston I did. I did an ABS bleed procedure which was available and then the lights and codes went away after restart. Pump worked great through the procedure, so I think air or moisture in the brake fluid might be causing the errors. Give it a try, brake fluid is cheap
How do you know which Power Net to use under body computer. I saw another video which showed about four different versions for 2019 RAM 1500. Does the unit tell you or is that something you need to find out prior to? And if so, how?
Thank you for posting this. So.. something I'm curious about . I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Classic. I changed my tire size using AlfaOBD, and used your video as guidance. I successfully changed my tire size, however I did not get any errors, and reconfirmed that the size saved, and it did. Can I expect errors at a later time ? Also, the ABS module you displayed is different from my Ram, I do not have the "ABS ATE/CONTINENTAL" I gave ABS Bosch, just to test, when I selected it, I started getting a flashing ABS light, I disconnected from the truck, and it went away. Any input on this?
I just changed my tire size on my 2021 ram classic and same thing I did not get any flashing lights on my dash. I’m thinking that is supposed to be this way since other guys have mentioned same experience. Have you had any lights come on since you changed your tire size?
I know that the 2018 needs some bypass wiring installed for the OBD MX to function. I am waiting for that and the MX+ to arrive. Just purchased the app and was messing with it according to your video. I went to "Select Control Unit" and the years only go as high as 2017. I'm using android.
Hi great video will this work on a 2020 1500.
I have a check engine lamp on now. Any idea if it will go out eventually or do I need to clear something?
check the error codes and see what it's for. May or may not be related to changing the tire. Sometimes it just gets set off when changing other settings.
@charles pages
Thanks!
What? no answer...
Same no Ate/continental option 2013 Ram 2500 4x4 5.7hemi
Is this the same procedure for 2010 3500 ram
Thank you so much for doing this. It helped me a lot. 👍😊
Do you have to disconnect security gate way before doing this?
hello after i do everything in driving my steering is not same before and it is harder to drive and turn
Hey, Man! Thank you for the video! I just have a problem with my 2022 Ram 2500 ABS initialization, it wouldn’t let me press the start button 3:18
Could anyone please give me an advise about that?
Same here, did you figure it out?
I tried to follow you instructions but you rushed through and I got lost and still can't change tire size on my 2017 2500 Ram...can you help me??
I have RAM 1500 2015 hemi so today i was trying to change the tire size with the help of alfaobd and obdlink sanner all well good except speedo meter was off by 3 km so i reprogramed the tire size to get the actual speed reading but this time some thing happened and my speedometer is now not working also i got a message that says 4wd temporarily unavailable, also note that the steering is feeling heavy now + the gear changing is delayed
I need help with a titan 55gal tank install calibration, everything I've done hasn't worked...
What have you tried so far? I know there are settings for tank size, then the actual gallons you want to show as fill/empty etc
Charles, how do I figure out which control unit I have for my Ram 1500 classic? thanks
I just pick 2019
Good vid. I did this the first try and it worked great but speedo was still a lil off. So I went back to change it. Not sure what happen. But power steering, park sensor and 4x4 are out. Not sure what I did wrong.
Just following up. Its seems like the truck wasnt fond of my 37s. I took a beer break and went back. Seems like its reset it self and all was good. I will stress. Be super careful what ur changing. Still a great vid bro
Seriously, even with the steps right in front of you all the beeping and dinging throws you off haha.
@@tonyvontes200 what mm did you use for your 37's?
@@sickofpdx I think the last adjustment I made was 2956 but that put my speedometer like 2 mph ahead. Still need to tweak it. Thx again. Hope that helps everyone.
Yeah mine is not resetting. No speedo and check engine light is on.
Tried this on my 15 ram 1500 everything was the same except ABS initialization didn’t give me a start button just a list of things to do to complete it.
How do I determine which body control module I have?
Awesome video man! Very helpful
Followed directions, and everything seems fine, but my CEL is on, and i can't seem to find the code to clear it. Anyone else have this issue? Any help is much appreciated
Does this alpha odb device have to be left plugged in all the time or can it be removed once changed are made?
I only wish you where close to NJ....Most dealers and 4whd shops have no clue. I`m willing to pay for someone to correct my tire size..My current tire is LT 315/70R17 Cooper AT3 what would be size in MM.
Anybody know why clearing rolls infomation keeps failing procedure
So I have nexen roadian 315/70R17s and there's no setting for a 315 but I picked 2560mm and it's off by one mph, am I close enough and is that going to cause any transmission issues?
It shouldn’t cause any problem, as the tires wear down it will change a little too. Heck 1mph is closer than what most vehicles accuracy is
So I’m getting 34.3inch tires and online calculator shows circ of 2733. So how are your 35s smaller?
Is there another dealer you can swing by? It's annoying how inconsistent the dealers are about this...
Yeah I had to call around to a couple dealerships to get permission. Then go and get it with my license and registration
Once you get code what do you do with it ?
To adjust tire size perfectly after the initial change, If I go UP in MM it will make my speedo slow down and if I go down in MM (tire size) it will make the speedo faster right? Also do I have to change everything again, I assume so because you are changing sizes again....Thank you!
Phenomenal dude!!! Subscribed! Now can this thing handle my 2017 Ram Rebel?
If you have the Edge Pulsar which also allows you to change tire size, which one trumps the other??
Probably whichever was used last. They probably both program in the same/similar way as far as the computer is concerned.
Where do I find the circumference of my tire to program??
I let mine sit for five minutes and when I put key back in ignition I didn’t get any faults did I just get lucky with the abs stuff I have a 15 if that matters?
After I did exactly what the video step-by-step my speedometer not working ABS light on
That happened to me also had to go to the dealer and have them reset everything
What did they charge you?
Hi there, what if i have the rear wheels are different than the front one? I have 285/30 r21 rear
245/35 zr21 front. Could you please advise
Thank you!
When i try to start the abs initialization, it won’t let me start like the button its gray
Mine also no have check engine light and no presenters or 4wd
Will it work at Dodge Durango as well?
I did this on a ram 1500 2010 followed all the steps and now I can't get rid of the abs light please help😔
Get this taken care of yet? Did you reset all the modules?
@@chazpages did every step of video and I still have the same problem I'm starting to think my front passenger abs sensor is bad because sometimes my brakes act weird 🙄 and my abs lights start flashing
Alex im having the same problem did you fix it?
When running static ecu it says coding data not received and then fails
So what size is 2714mm? Okay I was able to get it my tire size is 275/70/18 so the circumference is 2644.
@@chazpages thanks, much appreciated
Hello,
I have a 2016 with 17’s and 37’s. How would you put that in?
I selected one of the preprogrammed sizes because my winters are 275/55r20, I didn't have any lights come on. Did i do something wrong?
Do you need the pin for this to work?
No pin required!
I don’t have the option to click the ABS initilization
Once I hit next and start I received “failed. Request not supported by the unit”. 2010 ram 2500 st diesel. Any thoughts
Is there something I am doing wrong? I have plugged in 2688 and 2730 for my tire size (276/65/20). And either way, it is about 2 mph faster than actual speed. Any thoughts? My tires are not in list.
Great video. Thanks Charles.
So in other words it wouldn’t let me get into the ABS static initialization so I had to revert back to what the settings were
So far this is great software but I was unable to make a backup to Google drive or even open in chrome. I have made changes and everything works so far and I know what I've changed anyways and the values of original. Any format help would be appreciated though
I followed the steps and now get fuel range 1999 miles. What could be the cause? Ram 1500 2014 here.
Did you reset the fuel stuff on accident while coasting down a hill or something? Which would make it calculate the remaining range based on a real high mpg? Did this resolve?
@@chazpages no. Problem fixed. It went back to normal the next gas fill .
Thank you.
Yeah Id give that a shot and go from there. Sucks to lose those, especially the acc! My favorite feature on our other car lol
@@chazpages Yes, I use it all the time too. Thanks again.
Is there still the 5 minute wait between each step while doing this?
I never did-I think that applies more to different settings, not tire stuff
I wonder if me letting it sit saved me from having to change the abs stuff as when I came back I had no abs lights on have a 15 if that matters.
Check engine light is still on and says something about trailer brake control and 4wd temporarily being disabled and clear rolls information keeps failing and I have code u1412 and the Speedo doesn’t work at all and power steering feels very tight and hard to turn. Help
Did you follow these directions exactly? Any time I've seen issues like what you're describing a step was missed.
Charles Pages yes I did. And re did them. Should I try again after the truck been shut off awhile?
Charles Pages if I start the process again while having these lights and problems will that effect it?
I don't think so/it shouldn't. Although skip the part where you tried to change the tire size, and begin at the steps after that (to try and get rid of the codes).
What year is your truck?
Charles Pages 2015 1500 Laramie. Have 35x12.50-20
I tried doing a demo for my tires size..why is mine 2765 and yours is 2714? Thats a big difference
Programmed the tire size and it took the change. ABS initialization is greyed out though. ABS light is on now with warnings. Tried clearing codes, driving the truck and reconnected AlphaOBD. It connects and the ABS initialization is still greyed out. Bad ABS pump or module? Code: C0020
Did you get this figured out. Same thing is happening to me.
And if so, how?
dt new body
Thank you for posting this.
So.. something I'm curious about .
I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Classic.
I changed my tire size using AlfaOBD, and used your video as guidance.
I successfully changed my tire size, however I did not get any errors, and reconfirmed that the size saved, and it did.
Can I expect errors at a later time ?
Also, the ABS module you displayed is different from my Ram, I do not have the "ABS ATE/CONTINENTAL"
I gave ABS Bosch, just to test, when I selected it, I started getting a flashing ABS light, I disconnected from the truck, and it went away.
Any input on this?
I just changed my tire size on my 2021 ram classic and same thing I did not get any flashing lights on my dash. I’m thinking that is supposed to be this way since other guys have mentioned same experience. Have you had any lights come on since you changed your tire size?
I keep having a TPMS code come up after I did this ?
Is there any way I can call you?
I know that the 2018 needs some bypass wiring installed for the OBD MX to function. I am waiting for that and the MX+ to arrive. Just purchased the app and was messing with it according to your video. I went to "Select Control Unit" and the years only go as high as 2017. How do I get this to work on my 2018? or did I just get hosed out of $49.00.
Try the 2017, and you didn't get ripped off! You are correct that a bypass will be needed for 18+
Charles Pages
where do I plug the bypass cord in at? I have a 18 as well
Choose the 2017 option. It will work. I use 2017 for soem options in mine. I have a classic 2019 1500
