If you were wondering about the dispensary thing:
Essentially them being federally illegal but not state level legal means that the business can operate within the bounds of state law, ie taxes and not being shut down by a state law enforcement agency. If the federal government wants to use federal resources to enforce federal law, there is nothing the state can do to stop it,however it means that the federal law enforcement agency will have 0 help from state resources.
On the dispensary one: Lots of states have legalized weed, but it's still technically federally illegal. Eventually enough will have it legalized that the federal government will HAVE to legalize it or have a MAJOR headache on their hands
I have a few examples:
During high school, a Special Ed teacher seemed to want me to say "I do" when I was with him in a classroom, which I didn't understand at the time. A year after graduating, we heard that he was arrested for an inappropriate relationship with a freshman on our local news. He's now serving an 11 year sentence, from what I remember.
During one of multiple trips with my parents, we're going along a highway and stop by at a scenic overlook when we hear sirens along where we were going. Afterward, we get back on and see car parts littering each lane from what seemed to be a high speed chase along our path.
During another trip, we go along a path that's sand and our car gets stuck, front wheels dug in. We call a tow truck, get it out, and continue on our way. Back from the trip, one of my parents goes to a local store with it, within walking distance, and the outer tie-rod end on the passenger side only then came off.
One I witnessed this past summer, we're going with two other cars, one ahead and another behind us, as we're waiting for a constant red light as perpendicular traffic keeps going. We continue, turning at the intersection, when traffic was clear, as did the car following us which we could tell when a car going in the other direction had to slam on their brakes to avoid a crash.
I worked a movie theater when I was in high school. The job was fine and had nice perks (free movies and all the popcorn I could eat), but they kept scheduling me as "on call" instead of giving me anything concrete, which meant it was impossible to make social plans, since I never knew whether or not I was working on any given day. I decided to quit. The day after I quit they were robbed at knifepoint. Glad I decided to work at a much safer job: a convenience store (which, incidentally, was ALSO robbed, but it was after hours when no one was there).
When I was a trucker driver I was hauling large rolls of paper when one of them shifted while I was in a curve. It almost caused the entire trailer to flop on it's side which would have taken the entire rig with it in a 40 MPH zone. I was able to get the roll to stop falling by dodging a little into oncoming traffic just long enough to balance the roll back onto the floor of the trailer. Turns out that the shipped didn't bother to strap the paper and figure it would be fine. Which is a big BIG no-no.
Glad you survived that ordeal. My question: did they not learn from airplane accidents that proper loading procedures need to be enforced?
@@JamesDavy2009 Honestly? Probably not. To this day that company mostly likes to have you do what is 'drop and hook'. Which means the load is already sealed with a metal tag you're not supposed to open unless required to by law enforcement. It's nice that you don't have to mess with the cargo, but you also won't know if something is wrong in it. Like it being improperly secured.
The biggest bullet I dodged was a fricking vehicle.
I was 18 years old, just got off of the bus home from my city centre going home from my sixth form college. My backpack was only on my left shoulder; IIRC, a van was blocking partial view of the road where i usually cross the road. The road Iive on is angled downwards towards the main road.
A vehicle was coming down the road fairly fast and I heard a noise; my backpack was clipped by the car (undamaged, thankfully). If I crossed the road, I would have been hospitalised or worse.
Not directly involving me but two notable stories:
1. My mom's friend's grandma was going to sail to America on a ship but decided to go on a different ship. The ship she declined to go on: The Titanic.
2. In 1950, the mother of my friend missed a streetcar in Chicago. The streetcar she missed collided with a tanker truck killing 33 people in both vehicles.
In November 2011, two friends of mine wanted to go join a hunting group and asked me if I wanted to come along. I already had an plans with my sister for a Trivium and Inflames concert in my hometown that weekend. So I went there.
When I was back home on Sunday, my mother called me and said she was so glad that I went to the concert.
It turned out that my two friends had a serious car accident on the way to the hunting party because the driver was once again too fast. The car crashed into a tree and the engine was thrown out in the impact.
Both survived, but it was pretty critical for the passenger. He was in a coma for several weeks and is now slightly mentally disabled.
If I had driven with them, I would probably have died because the back seats were completely destroyed.
I was around 15 years old when my mum decided to move from one state to another. On the second day of driving, my mum was tired (she had gotten little sleep the night before). While on the freeway, about an hour from my dad's, we began to drift into the lane next to us. She had fallen asleep at the wheel.
I watched as our little car's front right side collided into a big red truck, screaming the whole time. Upon impact, we spun around twice, ending up facing the wrong way.
It was a hot day in June or July in central California. Emergency vehicles came and checked us over, a kind stranger offered us some water (traffic was totally stopped), and shortly after the EMTs cleared us, my dad picked us up.
I am now 29 and this memory still haunts me sometimes. We were incredibly lucky in that our injuries were a very minor concussion (me) and a mild concussion with later memory problems (my mum), and likely some bruising.
I had a really bad feeling about someone I was with at the time. I started ghosting them because I had a really strong bad feeling and didn’t feel safe breaking up… he left me 3 explicit threatening voicemails and was later arrested for sexual assault… he apparently has multiple children with many women and isn’t allowed near any of them. As far as everyone knows I’m his first male victim but who knows who is out there and too afraid to speak up…
my great-great-great(?) grandfather had a third class ticket on the Titanic, but ended up not going because iirc he ended up attending his sister’s wedding or something. I don’t recall the exact details but I do know that something came up and he didn’t go.
My mum aunt and sisiter missed a massive bullet when the london bombing happened all 3 of them was ment to be there at that station whem it happened they didnt go as my sister had a headache and the second they heard about the bombing it eased up
When I was in grade four me and my sis were going to class we smelled gas so we told the teacher and ten minutes later were told that the heater had exploded and we evacuated
Was driving home from work one day on a major highway and saw a car with a wheel I felt was off for some reason
Put some distance between us
Wheel came off The exact one I had a bad feeling about
That extra distance gave me the exact amount of distance I needed to not hit the wheel as it flew across my lane
I don’t know if this counts but back in 2019 I had purchased a new used car a few days before I was on my way to work I was driving down a road with nobody on it I decided to be a bit stupid and I was probably speeding a little. The AC didn’t work and since it was summer I had bothered the driver side window and passenger windows down, and since I have ADHD I saw a small napkin fly out my passenger window when I looked back at the road I was on the yellow line, so I turn the wheel to get back on the correct side of the road. I must have jerked the wheel instead because next thing I know my car is spinning, the the back end hits a tree car stops and is totaled. When I jerked the back passenger side hit a tree it spins landing on another on another tree close by. I was wearing my seatbelt and the worst I got was a bruise on my left shoulder from it. People wear your seatbelts they literally save lives and it likely saved mine.
One time a large amount of snow grazed my back after falling off a 3 story building and i turn around to a bent sign covered in ice chunks
As a kid I loved flying. My mom was a manager at an airport, so I got plenty of opportunities. Well, one day we had the opportunity to fly in a tourism helicopter and it terrified me. It crashed within the week with no survivors.
3:32See, this is what happens when you’re not there!
I didnt dodge it, and it wasnt quite a buet, but I did buy the affordable pellet gun instead of the more powerful, expensive one that could have peirced my flesh in the hands of my clumsy cousin when it went off and stuck me in the chest.
Or the motorhome incident. Wanted to go east then north at an intersection after hopping out of the family van. The paths north then east were in favor of the traffic lights, and mom got impatient that I wasnt using them (it would have put the sun in my face). I misunderstood the honking and took off north, across the traffic, and did a diveroll to not get hit by a motorhome.
Mom eased up on the reigns after that.
Me and my friend was crossing a road my friend polled me back and a second later a car drove by and I would have gotten hit by a car
That's a pretty big bullet I almost got hit by
13:24 Every place in the USA has two separate governments: the federal government, and whatever state government is responsible for that location. Usually only state law applies during day-to-day activities, since the state has jurisdiction over everything that happens in its borders. Federal jurisdiction applies to the entire nation, but only to certain things (e.x. currency, copyrights). Importantly, anything which in any way affects multiple states is considered "interstate commerce", and is therefore subject to federal law.
Thus, just running a dispensary is probably fine technically. But if it is advertised outside that state, if it offers shipping outside that state (even once by mistake), if it accepts payment outside that state, if there's any genuine reason to even suspect that this is happening, suddenly the feds are allowed to get involved. Plus, it's very hard to get law enforcement in trouble, even if the arrest was in fact inappropriate. And even if the jury finds "not guilty on all counts", that's still years of your life, gone without compensation. Plus probably a nice case of PTSD from the jail.
My parents were so close to booking a trip to the Maldives for Christmas. They decided to go to Sicily instead. We sat in our hotel watching Italian TV while tye tsunami hit
Story 8 literal bullets dodged
gameplay looking fire bro
I used to ride a moped everywhere in the Southeastern US and one night i was driving home from my moms house when a suv runs a stop sign. I brake hard and slam on the horn but a wreck was inevitable.
That night i got lucky on 3 fronts,
1) it was in front of a Follar General that caught it all on camera.
2) i was wearing a helmet and a leather jacket so injuries were minor
3) i was just 5 minutes from an ems dispatch location
There us more to all this but yeah i like to say blew my lotto winning luck that night
A really big bullet bill in a mario game
I know a guy who dodged a 12 gauge slug
Me and when it comes to number 37 that was lucky compared to what my dad had anything but my dad had happened was talking to him. He was helping my older uncle to his older brother, not to be confused with this too young but with his paper route was on his bike. Ignore hit by a car, lost his two front teeth and they were the adult teeth and he thought he had dodged a bullet, the old P in 37 dust it even more seriously and trust me. I know how bad it is. We hit by a car and hit by car I forgive the eight or 10 times in my life between the first week of June 2015 to the middle of September. 2021 so when my state was just starting to open back up from the pandemic. so in just over six years I had been hit by a car as a pedestrian in crosswalks at least eight if not 10 times and not the first time I was on my way into my first job. I had only been working for a year wasn’t able to work out that my parents were out of the country. My grandparents had to come from over 40 minutes away to get me through the fact I didn’t drive I had taken a Uber to the Denny’s in the same closet and wash from that tub my work, and at least that time I hand wash as much of my site yet I still had enough site where I wasn’t considered legally blind yet, although times I had officially been diagnosed as likely blind, and had been using my vision cane so eight times if it was 8×7 them I would’ve had my physical but it was 10 and nine of them I would’ve had my physical and so I have the 8 to 10 times I’ve been hit by a car across the crosswalk as a pedestrian 7 to 9 overtime for been as a officially seen blind person with a vision cane How I got away with it he’s only minor injuries, but still being kicked some Presley almost full on every time and I consider that dodging a bullet. I can serve have it in my dad, being hip and his two front teeth talk to him pull it, so yeah, this is definitely dodging a bullet not even making contact the OP in story 37 is very lucky, I’ll see forget dodge a bullet I don’t consider that dodging a full on tactical nuke. That’s how lucky that is Sedona because well I speak from experience multiple times over.
My dad dodged the plane going to hit the twin towers by an hour.
on a camping trip senior year my parents brought my bike up and my bike did well for the 3 days then on Monday my front tire came off causing me to land on the handlebars tore my jeans scratched my leg since I had a helmet on I did not crack my head open had I not had a helmet on I would've been seriously hurt a another part my aunt's friend's daughter had a concussion while roller blading not fun and for a bonus story I went to a movie with my friend of 11 years we ended up going Friday and thank god we did as a small fire broke out the next day there wasn't any major damage but the theater had to be closed for the remainder of the night
