This EQ sound extremely smooth and subtle. Suitable for a final polish. It also adds an analog dimension. Great for mixes coming from a digital source.
David, thank you very much for this review. The biggest reward for me will be if the 825EQ becomes a permanent fixture in your studio and you'll use it in your daily mixing and mastering work. I'm happy to work with you now and in the future. Kind regards from Poland. Igor, igs.audio :)
My pleasure man! You did an amazing job with this one and you bet it's gonna stay here! Ahah
I have never thought adding 500 and 3K could be this pleasant to my ears. Hm. Surprising! Great job IGS!!!
I know right?
Not only your visuals got so cool but you do the absolute best reviews over and over. Yes you did this one justice, it sounds gorgeous. Thank you David, hopefully I'm gonna be able to order one soon
IGS is made in a city where I grew up…in Poland. Dude makes these at home and quickly became known around the world…he is expensive but he uses the best components you can find and top notch knowledge!
IGS started by stealing PCB designs and making a profit out of DIYers generosity. They have definitely evolved over the years but that's exactly how he started. I'm only saying this to put things into perspective.
@@dandin1862 we have a saying in Poland that you have to steal the first million! 😂😂😂
@@amazeus1980 Hehe, OK fair enough.
@@dandin1862 Yes, shame on me. I was a young studio engineer in the 90s. who needed tube gear and some friends asked me to build one for them too. I was fresh out of an electronics degree from the technical university, Poland. It was over 25 years ago. Gyraf forgave me a long time ago. We are friends now. BTW, you must be as old as me, if you remember such ancient stories, haha! Good on you son, good on you 🫶
thts amazing
IGS and Igor make some incredible gear. Their stereo FET compressor is an overlooked beast (for some reason we rarely hear about FET as a mix bus comp, but sometimes it's just the ticket). But all Igor's creations are superb. This gorgeous EQ will perfectly compliment our Crane Song Ibis. Keep up the amazing work, David. Grazie
Oh my, you are so right. I don't think I've ever heard an eq this sweet. Just wow. Thank you for the video David, nobody comes even close to your reviews!
They are ads, not reviews..
After the intro I was like... "get a room you two"..
I think I'm in love with this eq! Holy tubes 🔥🔥🔥 At this price this is a no brainer, great job IGS and David for the amazing review, best in the game !
What a beast!!! Amazing EQ! ❤❤❤ Thank you for this review David!
Fantastic sounding EQ! Thank you for showing it David, best channel ever!
Sounds great! Really gives it a vibe as well
This is honestly incredible! This is definitely on the top of my list now,I could go on and on about how amazing this EQ is,but I really just want one! And yes you definitely did it justice, thanks again!
Oooh been waiting for this one. Missed the release in April so your community post was the first I’d heard of it. Let the games begin!
This is something else, very clean (almost too clean) yet not annoying (not sterile) and the track "breathes better" ... I would call it: The Final Touch EQ" :))
IGS sounds always GREAT!!!
Thank you for this!
Crazy Gooood sounding unit...luv the tube choices they used on this gem... Great Demo D!
Always good and complete test, thank for your work🤘🤘🤘
This eq really sound smooth 🤯
Awesome eq, what to say…
perfect 😍
OMG. It does just what you want it to but, it's like it's not even there. It sounds exactly like an EQ should. Perfect. I'll take it.
Damn, thoose midrange are pure magic !!
Wow, usually I hear something that makes me confident in a unit as a studio must... but this just hits the deep vibe right away... smooth as a word does not do it justice, it's smooth like a whole character, as in there's much more to it.
It's giving feeling rather colour...
Your a lucky man to have this one.
I've getting the old school sound vibe, the sound one dreams of when starting out.
My short mastering list had a new add on lol... need to warrant a bigger loan now 🤦♂😂
Ah what a treat to the ears 🤩
Hi David! Forgot to mention I bought your Hip- Hop Mixing Course also. Great stuff!
Awesome man! Happy you liked it
I love gear. Have a decent amount myself, all of it high quality: Rupert Neve, Empirical Labs, SSL etc. But I don't think I have ever heard an eq this smooth and beautiful. It seems impossible to make it sound bad. Boosts that would make even the best two bus eqs sound harsh still sound beautiful here. Truly amazing.
It really is
the boosts definitely made it louder.
No really? Uh.. go figure. Must be defective
@@mixbustv😂😂😂😂😂
Super macchina!!! Grazie David
This thing sound incredible! I also enjoyed the story at the beginning, you do the best review man. I didn't know the original and I looked around and I'm glad now that I want one too there is the IGS lol so I can afford it! Thank you Dave, you rock!
Mix Bus (David) ALWAYS knows how to pick em . Listening to this on my HEDD Type 30 MK2 monitors and Bass 12 sub . ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE !!!
I'm not often impressed by gear reviews on RUclips. Top notch exaggeration of the controls and the sound is still always ridiculously good 😮
Bella s voice soundd liquid aw 8:47 awesome
What a beautiful eq. I have their Volfram Limiter and it just feels bulletproof and sounds great. Can't go wrong with IGS stuff, enjoy.
What a dangerous EQ!
Awesome as always David. Your work ethic is amazing. The eq sounds really posh. It has a bit of a Sontec vibe.
here we go 😘
OMG...!!! that voice/song !!
My.lady? ruclips.net/video/whJMdgwzE4A/видео.html&si=KRndj5h5xsRznQbZ
Been waiting for you to demo this since its release 😭
When I Use Knif SOMA, Pancz, & Tomo AUdiolabs LISA just like David during the "Pop Ballad' segment, I immediately felt enamored the same way. I get almost the same smoothe analog master eq ITB vooodoo majik.
Oh they did it! This thing is ridiculous at this price AND with Elmas? Sign me in! Also Dave, my man your videos are so cool now ahha Best on YT and beyond 💪
I would call this the "vibe eq" remind me the eq on the Audix IB01 console.. it's great for mastering
I'm grinning too! OMG that top end. Thank you for the video Dave, you are the only one I trust. Quick question: I know it's basically double the price but what would you get if you could only have one? Empress, IGS 825 or Wes NgTube?
One word: polish (no pun intended)! IGS makes great stuff, and this just might be their crown jewel. :D
No doubt
That Cure's cover is f€ckin' killer !! Loved it even more than the gear demo...😅
Thank you, it's Bella ruclips.net/video/whJMdgwzE4A/видео.htmlsi=RCgAKguQ51258eDD
Yes. Yes it does indeed 🥵
For a moment , I thought it had scratches on the face plate! Only to exhale, realising, its just hair/Strands from the case..... Whew
Amazing... Ive got to say... the smoothness of those upper mids.......... damn..
Would LOVE a tube EQ stream!
More IGS gear review please!
I can see you like Polish electronics. You should try Bettermaker and Looptrotter as well!
Bella's Cure cover is so beautiful that I had to listen to the song three times, each time completely forgetting that I wanted to listen to the EQ 😄
Thank you!
Oh wow, I'm speechless! I feel this is the kind of sound I've always wanted. David I know you got the 1db step, but would you ever get the 0.5? Why you picked this one instead of half db? Thank you, your review are the best!
Hi David! That company with the name not worth mentioning…..I erased that headache from my computer and cast them out of my mailing list. The day I decide to checkout a demo program to buy ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! After installation my computer went F$@@ ?;& CRAZY!!! Took me several hours to erase EVERYTHING that was still hidden on my Hd! After buying the Black Box Analogy Design HG-2 MS, KClip3, True Iron, Klanghelm SDRR2, Mastering The Mix BASSROOM, FUSER, MIXROOM, SOUNDTOYS Crystallizer, Decapitator, Streaky ColourBox, Tight Arse, Tokyo Dawn Labs TDR Limiter 6 GE, TDR Molot GE……I think I bought enough! Time now to learn what I got!
Amazing video, your channel is a treasure (btw just a quick mention , you forgot to remove the double intro at 3.44),
That EQ is fuego bro! Like I said before, I hate you, but I love your channel...😆😆😆👍
The famous Lurssen Mastering know, why they use an 825Q...
The smoothest is ridiculous.... this is as polished as polished or finished as it comes.... That hip hop rnb song had me sold.... and for $3200 on vintage king this is a steal... I was saving for the Wes Audio new EQ...... but I just ordered this. I'll get that $WesAudio later.... I can get the impact with this immediately.
Check out the Gainlab Audio Empress
@@blvkqmusicgroup 5 band vs. 3band EQ but it is a great unit.
@@risingphoenix1484 no regular music consumer would know you used a 3 vs 5 band eq. Save some money.
This or the ngtube eq? 🙏 sounds fantastic
Yep , sold. Just bought it lmfao
Need a tube Eq death match
yeah for real
Please review the behringer 369
BRO I THINK YOU JUST SOLD ME AN EQ NO CAP
Every week we have new the best smoothest tube eq)
No we don't. The differences are clear and it's even more clear when I explain how and why.
This has been a long time dream EQ for me. David, which version will you go with?
Well obviously 1db if you ask me :D but you need to assess what works best for your rig
hey David, i noted you almost always used it to boost, what about using to cut? is it designed with in mind the goal to "smooth out" the sound or can be effective also to tame some boxiness, contain lowend energy, push down some mid forward elements in the mix and smooth out some harshness in the highs ? great video, i bet it sounds even more impressive in real life than here due to YT limitations.
It definitely does yes. Sure you can definitely shape the sound and cut, that's why so much focus on the mids and highs with the frequency choices
oh man...
Off topic, but what happened to the Evo 251 mic review? I was looking forward to the release and seemed to be hyped a lot.
Unfortunately we had a technical issue with the files and we have to reshoot. It'll be out again ASAP
@@mixbustv ok great, good to know you’re not retracting endorsement. Looking forward to it 👌
How does this thing compare to the WESAUDIO NGTUBEEQ EQUALIZER, sound wise?
Oooft, love the look & sound of this thing! I currently have the choice between this, the IGS iQ, and the Cranborne Carnaby (sadly, I can only choose one). Which would you go with if it were your only hardware EQ?
This is inductor too, like the IQ which has no tubes tho. All 3 are great eqs but if you ask me, the 825 is something very very special (hence, this is why it's here)
Anyone know what the song and singer/band is in the Pop Ballad section?
It's my girlfriend ruclips.net/video/whJMdgwzE4A/видео.html&si=mmAG_LQrV2L4SyND
How do you rate this one compared to the Wes ng tube EQ?
I understand, that the ng probably is more versatile, due to selectable Q and so on, but how I see it they both are more like broad stroke / colour EQs and for me personally the IGS soundwise wins in that regard by a huge margin.
It's a tough comparison. First off, there's a price difference. That should be taken into account. This one is broad, the Wes CAN do broad. This one has no filters and no digital recall, but the sweetness is to the roof. The Wes is workhorse, versatile and good sounding and all. The 825 is a classic mastering piece with THAT sound and it's more immediate. One thing is undebatable: both are insane units and two of the absolute best eq available on the market, now and for a long time I feel.
I would love if you compare this unit with the Acustica Audio Erin (his analog emulation of this unit)...
Yes I have Erin, and love it. And it would lose.
@@mixbustv show us how it’s lose! 😭❤️
Hi David! Would you choose the 6dB step version over the 12dB for mastering or is the 12dB version as useful for mastering since this eq sounds sweet even when pushed?🙏🏼
Yeah I prefer the 12db. The eq is so smooth and "subtle" if you wish, that I don't see you needed HALF db in any situation. Another eq sure, not this
I was just wondering what's the red line on the knob of the HF and HP channel ?!
Light reflection
Ohh lol okay thx
Though the curves are different, can this generally do what you love about the Heritage Symph EQ? Taking away M/S capabilities, can you get that same sweetness, tightness, and bigness from this unit that you can from the symph?
The curves are different, the number of bands is different, the topology is different.. they couldn't be more far apart and this is massively superior to the symph. No you couldn't get even close to this with the symph.
For someone that would like to make a decent sonic upgrade and go analog on a budget, I'd like to get some 500 series for my 2 bus. Do you have any 500 series unit recommendations for a decent place to start for 2 bus, or I'd love to see a video on a 500 series 2 bus chain recommendation if you haven't made one already. It'd primarily be for my own metal songs/demos.
I have many 500 series modules reviews, probably more than most. For metal you could go with a Wes Audio Dione (2bus), a pair of API 550B for drums, Mimas for vocals and maybe an inductor eq for it as well
@@mixbustv I've been going through your video library, so much great content! I appreciate 2 bus chain recommendation, the Wes Audio stuff looks amazing especially with the digital recall, they have a mix bundle NG500 that looks like a decent deal too, thank you!
They do, everything they make is great and that one is indeed a sweet deal
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks! Would you recommend this as a mastering eq?, I got a better maker EQ and are looking for a tube eq that is not super expensive but really good :). Best/Mathias
yes 100%
@@mixbustv need to sell something :).
😮 Jaw drop. Okay, quick question: How (temperature) hot does that thing get? I have the Gainlab Empress and that thing gets scary hot. No joke, need to figure out where I'm going to put it once I sell enough gear to afford it
AC is your friend
@@mixbustv Damn. Okay, I guess I just won't put anything above it I don't want cooked then 😆
Behringer 369 please
Tell the company!
People say it's not the gear, sometimes it's the gear.
Yep
It's Sand ultra actually....
Lol so, you mean a plugin emulation of an SSL channel eq, which not even the real unit is modeled on is a mastering or a smooth EQ? Must be.
Thank you, as always, David. I tried googling it: what, exactly is an Alma Switch?
Elma. The highest quality, most precise, reliable switches ever. Doesn't get better than that. Used in all the top notch mastering units
@@mixbustv Ahh! Thank you, Sensei.
Just out of curiosity, David, I have a nicely treated mixing room with Dutch & Dutch 8c monitors. For the 2-bus, I have available:
Gainlabs Empress
API 5500
Maag EQ4 500 (2)
Dangerous BAX
Elysia Museq
Also a lot of WesAudio stuff, including NGbus, and a lot of tubes and transformers, like HG-2 and Thermionic Culture Phoenix, Gainlabs Dictator, Tegeler Schwerkraft, Fusion, which is why I chose the Museq instead of a mastering quality tube eq.
Would you trade any of these for the IGS? (Or of course, just add it? haha!) (I've got no more room on the Flock XT!)
is it right with the 12 db version?:
first steps till 3 db (or 4 db 🤔) is with 0.5 db steos and from 3 db till 9 db is 1 fb step.
from 9 db till 12 db is a 3 db jump?
thst woukd be 💣
It's not doable. Inductors and Elmas, you can't just mix and match x steps.
3800 bucks
IGS another company from Poland
Is the red indicator is the memory indicator?
What?
@@mixbustv 😂shadows of the red lights
You're not the only one lol
would this pair well with the WesAudio ngTubeEQ ?
Oh yeah, that's why I have both
@@mixbustv nice yea im on the fence with this or getting a Goly to pair with the ng tube
🔥
Seems to sound good, but the volume differences while you are A/B'ing make it virtually impossible to really tell..
Virtually impossible? And how do you mix with any unit without an output knob? Just looking at what's around me: API 5500, SPL PQ, Empress, IGS 825, SSL 611. NONE of these have an output volume.
@@mixbustv well fair enough. But during the demo you are mainly boosting which favours the unit of course. Still, seems like a very nice unit thanks for bringing my attention to it.
We boost when demo'ing because boosting is a "stress test", eqs rarely fail or show their "weaknesses" when cutting.
From what im hearing, it's not enough of a difference.
