Title: Cranberry Relish Recipe
Quote by a famous chef: "A good cranberry relish should balance the tartness of the fruit with just the right amount of sweetness. This recipe does just that, making it the perfect accompaniment to any holiday meal." - Ina Garten
History of the recipe: Cranberry relish is a traditional side dish that has been served during holiday meals in the United States for generations. The recipe is believed to have originated in New England in the early 1900s, where cranberries were abundant. It has since become a staple at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners across the country.
Ingredients:
4 cups of cranberries
2 oranges
2 ¼ cups of sugar
2 apples
1 lemon
1 cup of nuts
Equipment required:
Food processor
Cutting board
Knife
Mixing bowl
Measuring cups and spoons
Storage container
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Directions:
Wash and pick over the cranberries, removing any stems or bruised berries.
Peel the oranges and lemon, removing any seeds and white pith.
Core and seed the apples.
Cut the oranges, lemon, and apples into chunks and put them in the food processor with the cranberries. Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped.
Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl and stir in the sugar and nuts.
Cover and chill the relish in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Finely cut celery and seedless grapes may also be added as desired.
Cooking tips:
For a chunkier relish, pulse the mixture in the food processor less.
Use a combination of sweet and tart apples for a more complex flavor.
Adjust the amount of sugar to taste, depending on the tartness of the cranberries.
Cooling time: 1 hour
Servings: Makes about 4 cups of relish

Simply Beautiful! Thank you Queen. Clapping from Norfolk, Va.💕
I have a similar recipe, but with only one orange instead of two, and no lemon. Everyone loves it! It wasn't from the South, though, the lady who gave me the recipe was in Pittsburg. I haven't tried freezing it. I'll have to try that.
It's really good on a ham or turkey sandwich❤
I love that she's wearing a smartwatch 😊
So easy and beautiful. I love the freezing tip. Happy Holiday to you from Kansas City, Missouri.👍💜

I just subscribed to your channel. I've never heard of cranberry relish and I'm looking forward to trying it.
It's so good!
I just subscribed to your channel. I thought your demonstration was adorable. I’m going to make this because it’s got such unusual ingredients. I’m also bringing a vegan sweet potato casserole that looks delicious. Thank you so much. I think I heard someone saying aside from sandwiches in for Thanksgiving, it’s wonderful over ice cream and even on French toast.
Thanks for subbing!
Beautiful! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
Thank you, Mee Mae. My mom has a very similar recipe that she made for years and years, and we recently lost her. So it falls to one of us to make it and that would be me. Have you never helped her make it? But being a fair cook myself, I wanted to make sure how to prepare it properly. Your video was very helpful.
Thank you for teaching me how to make that. God Bless you ❤️🌹
You are so welcome
Good morning, I'm Faye Thompson. This morning we're going to do a cranberry relish and I really like this recipe. I do make it a lot of time and thanks for giving it a share.
First of all, we're going to start out with cranberries. We have four cups of cranberries. These are just old cranberries and I think I'm going to have to take the top off of this. I'm going to put it over here for right now. We have to chop most of this up. What is chopping up? Do you think it looks fine enough? It's just a relish so you'll know about how relish looks. I sure don't want to get that stuff all over the house because it's a mess. Now we're going to take this out and put it in a bowl because we have to mix all this other stuff up and it really doesn't matter about washing this up because you're going to put it all in a bowl together anyway so we're just going to wash it between times. That's four cups of cranberries. I'm going to chop them up.
I freeze this stuff too. Like if I'm going to make the dressing and everything ahead of time because you couldn't do all that. . Of course, I'm going to see if there's a lot. I'll make it up ahead of time and put it in a freezer.
The next thing we're going to do is two oranges and all you do is cut them up and make sure they're seeded. You put just peeling all inside. I think we're going to be lucky. These are naval oranges. They don't have seeds in them so that's good. I'm just going to take that center part out. We're going to have two of those oranges. We're doing two apples. I got this little thing.
One of my friends gave this to me. Mary Whitlock. She had bought one for herself and liked it so much. She said I'm going to get you one of those. She got it for me and I used it a lot. I really like it. It takes the center out for you too. I don't have too much cleaning there. That's pretty much ready to go. You can find these things in a lot of places. I've seen them but I didn't own one until she bought it for me. She's a really good cook. She moved away from Parkin. She's in a little town pretty close by so we get to see her once in a while. I think that's about right. Like I told you, you can phrase this. Make it head-to-tie and put it in your refrigerator and Thanksgiving. You throw that out in your dressing too.
Okay, we're going to mix two and four cups of sugar with that. We still have one more thing to cut up. We got this lemon. We got to cut up. This is a lot of seed in it. That's what we've got to be careful with and I'll get you to see it.
I went to California not long ago to see my little great-granddaughter I'd not seen and my daughter has a home in Malibu. She had crazed big lemons growing in her backyard. They were at least three times larger than that lemon. I brought a few back. My friends couldn't believe it. I think that's it.
We just have to use one lemon. Let me get just... And we got one cup of chopped pecans if we got to put in it. I think this makes a pretty recipe. You get all those colors in there mixed together.
Jane, my daughter-in-law, I think takes her looks and down the work and she told me she took this cranberry relish to eat with her sandwiches. I'll never order that for she's reluctant though.
Now our cranberry relish is finished. We're ready to put it in small containers and put it in the freezer. I hope you try this. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you join us on another video. Thank you for watching.
I am definitely trying this! Glad I found your channel and thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
I can't wait to try this Thanksgiving!
Hope you enjoy
Precious personality. Looks fabulous 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you.
GREAT VIDEO!!!
I’m looking at your kitchen. Is that a breadbox in the wall? Is that a built in can opener in the wall?
It's not a breadbox; it's for paper towels. Yes, the can opener, mixer, and several other devices are built-in.
Looks pretty good. Have you tried substituting the sugar with honey?
Not yet!
No machines my vote. Chop ingredients separately. Add to pot at different times for texture.
And it will take a very long time without machines. I vote machines in my house.
Do you cook the cranberries first?
