You built it for tight technical trails and then hire a motocross rider to blast it around motocross style terrain makes perfect sense, this should be called "The Bike Bling and Sticker Show".

I am lowering the power in the power curve for my 2-stroke YZ250 also (2019). I won't be able to ride it until spring, and what i am doing is reversible, but I expect it to be a really good lower end and mid range motor for this kind of riding. Every bit of it is geared to shift the power down, (like this bike), and if overkill, I can change something back. Not using a flywheel weight--yet. Not sure yet.
    1) New top end kit with a Weisco piston. Get rid of that soft stock piston as fast as you can. I would have had a piston failure before a set of rings wore out if I did not tear it down.
    2) V-force reeds. But with out that stock aluminum spacer between the reed and cylinder, (reduce drank case volume, more mid range hit). V-force reed also "unblocks" the rear reed transfer port tunnel as it does not use reed stop plates that block the hole about 50%.
    3) I do a bit of port cleaning and champhering, especially on the Ex. port. My stock port was very hard on the rings.
    4) Add the FMF Gnarley pipe.
    5) Lower the cylinder by not using a cylinder base gasket, (about .024"), and seal it with a great sealer that resists gas, (no silicone). This will lower the ex. port time area to better match the lower RPM FMF pipe. This will require 100 octane gas, as there will also be more compression.
    6) Make sure the ignition time is in the center mark. Some come from the factory, "off the mark".
    7) After that is done, jet the carb well.
I am pretty sure I am going to love this set up for trails like these, and none of the mods are permanent. I will probably end up changing it up a bit after riding. Will see. :)

Can I drive enduro with a 2018 YZ250, or will I crash it every 5 minutes? I'm considering buying one. It has already been modified with an 18" rear wheel/tire and a full FMF system. I'm a lower-intermediate rider, so I understand that I probably should buy a WR250F instead, but this '18 YZ250 I found is so gorgeous that I fell in love with it instantly. 😅

@sekacity3425 Dumb dumb? How about figuring it out and modifying it. Any dumb dumb can keep buying bikes (if they have the money for any reason), until they find one they like. But experience tells me, if you strive for the best ride you can make it---your gonna modify it anyway. Not as much as a YZ though.
When I am done with my YZ, it will be the best trail bike I ever built for me. :)

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 11 месяцев назад +1

Yes. I think it started with a poor education system, with spelling and definitions in this case.
We mixed up "Trails" with "Trials", and those hard Enduro folks are riding Trials with Trail bikes.
We really have to sue our school systems. :)

0:38 Dirtbike Magazine professionals. Your bike is running very rich, see the mess? Your losing 2hp. You don't know how to jet a carb?
MXA is also a shell of the mag it used to be.

Well, I am in Michigan and I love 3rd gear whooped out single track. I see this new "Hard Enduro" stuff, and it seems to me today, people are confusing trails with trials.
But then again, everybody is now riding with a high handle bar freestyle set up and I guess figure "The taller the bike the better" too. :)
Man, compared to the 80's, this has become one dysfunctional industry.

Graphics and plastics look like ass. The rad shrouds are huge old school stock shape and the side plates are tiny wannabe KTM copies, and the colors don’t even match either. Do yourself a favor, go buy an aftermarket graphics kit instead of designing your own, there is a reason they sell thousands of them instead of just one. Not every one is an artist and not everyone is a dirt bike builder and even fewer are good at both. I’m leaning towards this build being better at the bike building part than the graphics/artist part.
