Great review. Very informative and I don’t usually like audio narrative throughout but your voice is kind of soothing so it’s quite pleasant haha. Thank you.
Closing the window shades prevents you from filming any "sensitive" areas in China. In Australia they still do it when flying near Pine Gap between Adelaide and Darwin or Alice Springs as its a joint facility between Australia and the USA for " things"
Agree about the a350, the a330 was just for a short flight for us and thankfully clean. Yes, I can imagine allergies may cause a problem. Thanks for watching the video.
Frankly I’m glad the flight attendants close the shades……….especially on an east-west long haul flight. You’re chasing the sun and it’s daylight the whole trip. You’re in business class and want to use the lie flat seat to get a few hours sleep. With the shades down the cabin is very dark and conducive to rest. But there is always “someone” who needs their shade up illuminating the entire cabin.
Ah, and I'm that person? You'll see in the video that I partially closed it for the comfort of others. Later I closed it fully but must confess to taking infrequent peeks!
I have to book a flight this evening from LHR-BKK and as it is last minute, my main airlines want 200% of the usual business fare, hence me looking around. I've come across this airline and aside from the 6/7 hours layover in Beijing with a non descript lounge to sit in, I'm somewhat concerned about the lack of food options and movies etc. I know, I'm spoiled, travelling mostly on Etihad and Qatar but they are 2.5x to 3x the Air China fee this time and even Emirates is cheaper (not than Air China !). Decisions, decisions.
Yes, it was the best at the time of booking and lower than expected for a departure from Heathrow (or any UK airport). I looked again in June to book for May 2025 and the price was £13,400 !
@@Hen70-cv4tg Yes, even the Frequent flyers of CA might have something they don’t like. I am the frequent flyer of CA and I think some of their plans’ Inflight Entertainment systems are quite old.
Yes, the A330s we took between PEK and HND had in flight entertainment systems that were very old and quite slow. Not such a problem on a short haul flight but it might be a problem for a long haul trip.
@@Hen70-cv4tg yes I took same flights between Beijing and London at 5 years ago and most were A330-200 which the IFE was too old, but lucky CA updated to better A350 series. I also made them as vlogs and you can watch it.
@@Hen70-cv4tg I took the same aircraft in the route of Beijing and London at 5 years old which the IFE was too old and I made them vlogs as well on my RUclips channel, but CA updated it to A350 after COVID in the routes like Beijing to London and other European destinations like Stockholm and Copenhagen. By the way I am also a flight blogger and I am making the flight vlogs as well.
Agree with shades down in business class daytime flights, it allows everyone to rest in the ambient environment, but at the same time you can always have an occasional peek to view the vista.
I used to fly fairly frequently on air china, and it seemed to me their weakness is the food and drink. And strength is the staff attitude. Great to know you enjoyed it and it’s a nice and compact review to watch.
Thanks for the feedback. The staff attitude and service was exceptional on 3 out of the 4 flights we took. The food was better than expected overall, we were pleasantly surprised having had low expectations. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.
It is frustrating when airlines have seat products that differ between aircraft. We chose the 359 departure specifically and then spent 4 months worrying that the aircraft would be changed to 77W! Thanks for watching.
Air China's service differ significantly between speaking English and speaking Mandarin. If you speak Mandarin, their service is great and sometimes even "over-serviced". But if you speak English, you would probably have a much worse experience. Most of FAs are not really good in English and as a result they may sound really impolite/ rude or just misunderstood you. That's the common problems with almost all Chinese carrier. Other than service, almost everything with Air China is a nightmare. Out-dated lounge, low-budget, low-standard F&B, biz seat with no privacy, no stroage, little leg room on ALL Boeing long-haul aircraft, cheap overnight kit.
Thanks for your thoughts. Most of the Flight attendants on our flights were very good at service and fluent in English. Also the business class seat on the A350 was excellent. I realise that other aircraft have inferior seats and that is the reason we chose to fly on the A350 departure from London. Not sure that I would have booked the B777.
I've flown air china on the London - Beijing route on both aircraft and only in economy. The 777 infact had by far the best leg room (and better than most European/Middle Eastern carriers). The A350 was just adequate. Enjoyed the review of business class. I've heard that air china also has a premium economy but I've never seen it
@@Hen70-cv4tg The biz seat of 330 gives you enough legroom and enough space for feet at the cost of privacy and storage. Biz seat of 350 gives you privacy and some storage space at the cost of space for feet. However, the biz seat of 777 and 787 is just a B***S**** . No privacy, no storage and the space for feet is even worse than the space on 350. I would rather avoid it at any cost unless it is cheaper than premium economy
@@neilrmartin1984 CA does have premium economy in 787 748 and 350. But the pe in 787 and 747 is just economy with extra legroom. PE in 359 is the real pe with different seat product and larger width. Air China themselves classify the pe in 787 and 748 and pe in 350 as two different products.
On 3 of our 4 flights, the crew were enthusiastic and friendly - comparable to my experience on Singapore Airlines. This one crew didn't perform as well which was a shame but I have no idea as to the reasons behind it. Overall, my AC experience was very positive. Thanks for taking the time to comment and thanks for watching.
Thanks for your comment. I was simply pointing out what happened because I think there is no point in a review unless it is honest. I did point out that crew on the other AC flights had been exemplary and I would definitely book with them again. I think that is fair and balanced.

I didn't mind air china. It was clean great service and comfortable on the a350 but the a330 was stinking dirty. Food was not the best with allergies.

If a country's economic situation deteriorates, the service of that country's airlines will inevitably deteriorate.
