After seeing The Core and the King, Andras behavior in True Colors adds more depth. The Roundtable pointed it out in their analysis that you could tell that Andrias had moments of PTSD throughout the episode. When he saw Grime with Barrel’s hammer and made that roar. Him dropping Sprig because he looked like Leif was his way of getting back at her. Plus Anne’s speech of calling Sprig her best friend making Andrias line of friendship more clear. Finally stabbing Marcy was a moment of panic because he had PTSD remembering Leif taking the box and was concern he would lose the box again, failing his father. Still was a psycho move. Had to bring it up if you want to explain this in your next video or season 3 review. :)
Want to make things even more tragic? Leif’s premonition of the future was a result of her taking the music box in the first place, with a few exceptions that haven’t occurred yet such as the moon’s collision with Amphibia. By trying to prevent the future she saw, she ultimately caused it. Why couldn’t the vision be more specific?!?!
I mean if it had they would have genocided Earth so maybe that's okay. Also to add to the ground work there I'm realizing that the reason Leif hit the music box on Earth was probably because that's the only place she could since the music box was already set to go there
It would’ve been great character development for Andrias if he realized that after years and years of invading other worlds, he ultimately is ruining them. When he meets Marcy, however, when she got to Newtopia; he got to know her, got close to her, befriended her to some extent. You’d think he would’ve changed his mindset and his care for her would make him realize he doesn’t want to hurt her or bring devastation to where she lives. I get what he and his family have been doing has been their way of life and he wants his fathers approval, and I would’ve accepted that potential character development but he proved that he was willing to “kill” Marcy with no hesitation. Along with everything else he’s done, it’s clear he’s past the point of no return.
Andrias is extremely complex, started as a completely sweet boy just going along with his family's ways, but then he hears they're gonna wipe out an entire species, he objects, sticking to his ways, but then comes the breaking point, Leif's vision and her and Barrel's (technical) treason/betrayal, Andrias sat on this anger, and his Father's disappointment, for *1000 years* , there was no saving him at that point, he became his father.
I loved these two episodes The Root Of Evil is a good example about Amphibia doesn't have any "filler" episodes I have thought that the ending of Children of the spore (S1EP19A) was just to have a "creepy" ending, but no That episode from season 1 had strong relevance in 2 episodes in season 3 (Commander Anne and The Root Of Evil) and a return of a character in season 1 I love how season 3B is returning characters and details established in season 1 and 2 In Commander Anne, the Loggle statue in "Cane Crazy" and the Mushroom Spores returns In Sprivy, the Wally's father from "Swamp and Sensibility" and Stumpy's hand being made of bone, which becomes a important detail for the mission, which was established in the "Lily Pad Thai" episode In Sasha's Angels, Barry, the antagonist from the episode "Cursed!" returns In Olm Town Road, the Olm Twins from "Quarrels Pass" returns And in Grime's Pupil, where Beatrix returns after appeared for the first and last time on screen in "Barrel's Warhammer" and been quoted back in "Turning Point" The Core And The King is one of the most important episodes of the entire show Where we see a little bit of the "Golden Age of Amphibia", back 1000 years ago, when the Amphibian society was rich, powerful and prosperous But the Golden Age of Amphibia was only possible because of 2 things: Imperialism and Colonialism The Amphibian society is probably a reference about the European Colonial empires, where UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium created their colonial empires centuries ago to expand their power and influence in the world The Amphibian society probably had many propaganda, to create the idea that invading other worlds was a good thing to maintain the "Amphibian Style of Life" Also, in the end of this episode, we finally see how the Amphibian Caste system was born Where the Newts are the Nobles (and King), the most powerful and rich racial group of Amphibia The Toads are the Knights, taking orders and being controlled by the Newts And the Frogs are the Peasants, the weakest, most marginalized and oppressed racial group of Amphibia The Amphibian Caste System is similar to the Feudalism in Medieval Europe back in 11th and 12th century And the Apartheid in South Africa in the last century And we finally understand how Barrel become a legendary hero between the Toads, because Andrias forced Barrel to the exile. Basically, Amphibia never disappoints me
I'm kind of glad you missed the Amphibian text saying "Memory wipe in progress" because that would have caused an unnecessary breakdown because that was confirmed to be a mistake anyway. Apparently, there were some last-minute revisions to the text changing it to "Optimization in progress" but they forgot to change the Amphibian runes to match the English.
I think Andrias will play a part in the Core's defeat. He's probably too far gone for a full redemption, but it might be a simple inaction of his that allows the heroes to win. If this happens, I don't think the Core will be as "merciful" to him as he was to Barrel.
I’m guessing that was the moon crashing into Amphibia and we did establish that leaf is indeed a planter and I think the key to breaking Marcy’s mind control is to have Jeremy spores take over the course of mine to retrieve Marcy
Welp now we know where Andreas got his habit of sending letters through secret messages also why he threw sprig in particular he probably was so pissed when he saw the plantars with Anne.
12:19 : That frog on the right is literally wearing Grunkle Stan's fez, and not just the frog-themed fez of Frog Stan. Seems like the Royal Order of the Holy Mackerel is far older than we thought. Or maybe it originated in Amphibia and just happened to influence humans on Earth. Or its just a simple shoutout and nothing more.
Just wanna point out the village in The Root of Evil is parodying Midsommar, and also Bessie all trussed up like that is referencing the dude in that movie who got blood eagle'd.
Main reason is because you're cool but the secret reason is because you putting Power of NEO over Frobo dying was the best thing ever. I need all of Frobo but with P.o.N
13:16 *“Barrel is completely innocent in all of this”* and a little fun fact since I’ve never decoded Amphiba’s language before. The decoder is on the literal decoding website that I’ve used to decode like Caesar cyphers in the past like that’s so fucking cool and I had no idea
You see the sad thing is that throwing Sprig off the castle is personal for Andrias, and then seeing Marcy took the box to open a portal in TC triggers old memories that he finished her before she can escape to make up the time he can't finish Leif
I’ve been pointing this out as much as I can, but it sounds like Marcy’s voice gets fainter inside Darcy after the “optimization process” *it worries me…*
Marcy will be back. I suspect she will either find away out of the so-called room she is "locked" in or else use the Calamity powers restored to her by Anne and then start picking off the minds of the Core one-by-one. I look forward to hearing the Core beg for mercy as Marcy out maneuvers them in a mental Flipwart game (or maybe her favorite Shooter game) Honestly the Core does not stand a chance.
What I like about this is that in some fantasy stuff characters that get a glimpse into the future and it's bad and try to change it actually cause it to happen. After all Amphibia wouldn't have needed to be exploited for resource had the box stayed
How delightful! I was not expecting this to come out so soon! Regardless, I wish to be brief. I have seen many differing takes on how or why the moon is crashing down unto Amphibia and would like to throw my hat in the ring. I do not belive this is a consequence of the box's usage, nor that of the stones and by proxy the girls (whilst those are still plausible). Rather, I believe this is the fault of the core/Darcy, after most the of conflict has transpired and it seems as though it will lose. Anne and Sasha have the upper hand and it is a last ditch attempt to destroy them and everything, as it knows it has lost. (This sorta banks off my previous theory) However it would likely need to use stone(s) in order to do so. "If are to be denied our way of life, then this world and its inhabitants are useless!" Something of this sort.
Okay I love a good homage as much as the next guy but Matt braley really needs to lay off the Zelda lol. The calamity powers are basically the triforce, the temples feel like something right out of a Zelda game, andreas's Castle feels like it got ripped right out of breath of the Wild and his sword isn't too far off, and now the moon is going to fall on the planet. Like damn I get it you really like the games 🤣
Leaf did say the ecosystem of the universe was being broken, maybe that’s what caused the moon to hit earth in the flash forward, I say rather than Andries from of attack cause that would destroy the resources Edit: just realized that the moon hits amphibia, same idea honestly

Man what a comfortable looking hoodie, sure hope there's nothing horrifying or stressful about this episode-
I HATE THAT DAMN HOODIE...
THE HOODIE IS YOUR “I hate that fucking moon”
Just a reminder: Barrel died protecting a town from that Narwhal worm. Andrias sent him on that assignment to die.
Dang

its a self fulfilling prophecy?! I didn't even realize that!
Little thing: Young Andrias is voiced by Zeno Robinson (Hunter from TOH) and Barrel is voiced by Jason Ritter (Dipper from Gravitty Falls)
THAT'S WHY THE VOICES WERE FAMILIAR

The Core And The King is one of the most important episodes of the entire show
Where we see a little bit of the "Golden Age of Amphibia", back 1000 years ago, when the Amphibian society was rich, powerful and prosperous
But the Golden Age of Amphibia was only possible because of 2 things: Imperialism and Colonialism
The Amphibian society is probably a reference about the European Colonial empires, where UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium created their colonial empires centuries ago to expand their power and influence in the world
The Amphibian society probably had many propaganda, to create the idea that invading other worlds was a good thing to maintain the "Amphibian Style of Life"
Also, in the end of this episode, we finally see how the Amphibian Caste system was born
Where the Newts are the Nobles (and King), the most powerful and rich racial group of Amphibia
The Toads are the Knights, taking orders and being controlled by the Newts
And the Frogs are the Peasants, the weakest, most marginalized and oppressed racial group of Amphibia

Barrell was just a kid. 😭😭
i always imagined him around Grimes age in his life when being a hero.
also, I'm not ready to say goodbye to amphibia
"I promise you- This wasn't the plan!"
Ouch
After watching this episode, I already can tell I’m not ready for *Amphibia* to end.
Remember- In the default S3 outro, Anne is seen carrying the moon.
I think Andrias will play a part in the Core's defeat. He's probably too far gone for a full redemption, but it might be a simple inaction of his that allows the heroes to win. If this happens, I don't think the Core will be as "merciful" to him as he was to Barrel.
