    I have torn up wings twice in the past trying to manage a 6M wing and my foil in heavy shore break at high tide. Would this work for taking my wing out first beyond the shore break, then joining it with my board; followed by doing the reverse on the way it? Thanks.

    I think the technical name is a sea sock. Used in sailboats in a storm to keep the bow pointed into the wind. By the way, the sailing ones are cone shaped with some water allowed to pass through. Not sure of the advantage of this design but maybe worth trying.

    My idea is to not have the leash attatched to you at all. If you happen to let go of the wing after a crash( which seldom happens) the wing just stays there.would make hadle passes etc easier

    Looks like a great idea. I absolutely hate leashes. I stopped using kiteboard leashes long before most people even knew what what I was doing. Broke a bunch and they were crazy dangerous. I use sea anchors for kayak drift fishing in open water. I'm going to look for one to try. Might be a great safety for SUPs as well.

    Have been having a blast with my new Anchorman! It works fantastic! However, word of warning.... Make sure the safety leash is longer than the chord length of your wing (leading edge to trailing edge). If not, when the wing flips, the anchor comes out of the water, increasing the speed that the wing travels downwind. Almost learned that the hard way when I released my 7m and almost wasn't able to catch it. Definitely not a product defect!!! The solution is to use a longer leash with bigger wings, or stick to smaller wings. :)

    When you think you might crash just carefully deploy the sea anchor making sure it is set before gently letting the wing go. Let's see a realistic example so we can see if it actually works.

    How does this work in head high to overhead waves? When waves get larger it can be difficult to throw the wing over the breaking wave, and when the wave catches the wing the power can damage the wing and cause the rider to be pulled very hard and into a dangerous position relative to the foil. This could be a good solution if it allows the rider to ditch the wing and have the wing pushed to the inside without being destroyed.

      Ramon, Great question, I am thinking we could attach the board leash to the actual cloud9 waist, leash as well and the wing and board could be on the parachute when activated. @@DamienLeroyRUclips Thx but do you mean realeasing both at the same time? I prefer to have them separate, on same belt is ok but not on the same leash. For the board dont think I need an anchor, I guess that if the leash brakes it will break somewhere in between.

    It doesn’t work if your leash breaks apart from the leading edge….
    Not sure I’m going to completely ditch my wing in the waves…
    Maybe fun to use with another foiler, but I don’t really see the purpose…
    The only use for this would be your harness breaks and hopefully the anchor knows it should deploy:(

    What's your thoughts on how this will work in the Columbia river? Strong current going one direction, wind going the other. I'm stoked to try this and am wondering if the wing will run away with the current, stay in place due to opposing forces, or slowly go downwind...

    • @AdamsHadEnough
      @AdamsHadEnough Год назад +1

      I could see this taking the wing away upwind with the conveyor belt river current, especially out in the main channel.

    • @bryanhall9996
      @bryanhall9996 Год назад

      @@AdamsHadEnough I agree with you. Could be interesting to see how it acts early vs late season. I think it would also be cool if smaller anchors, or even anchors with slits in them got developed to encourage the wing to move with the wind, and/or allow current through. Just another unique addition to the toy chest!

      @@DamienLeroyRUclips I'm sure it will hold, but will it run away in the wrong direction and be lost! 🤣 the river current here goes the opposite direction that you ride, so as you are going downwind, the river would be pulling the wing upwind.

      Hi Guys,
      Chris here from Cloud9. We tested it out at Hood River last Summer and it was the highlight of our trip. We used it in good winds using a 5.0m 4.2m and 2.8m 20-30mph average and one day it was gusting to 50mph at Rufus I don’t know all the speeds of the current like you guys would but it worked unreal for us. Drop the wing and it still wants to drift downwind which is up the river. Cool part is you surf downwind or up river then the current took us back quickly to our wing. So much fun!!! Maybe light wind strong current not good???

    Have you tried releasing inside the break zone yet? I'm envisioning that the waves will eventually push the chute and wing to shore, where the water will drain from the chute and the wing will start sliding down the beach with the chute following (if I haven't arrived in time to stop it). As bad as that sounds, I'm more concerned about getting tumbled while still leashed to my board. If I release it too, then it seems like I stand even less of a chance of making it to the beach before the wing. I'd like to try winging on bigger days, but when I play through all the potential scenarios, I just don't see how to do it safely. Perhaps ya'll can enlighten me. Thanks 😄🤙

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  Год назад

      All great points! from what we have seen it really is an anchor and holds the wing from going anywhere fast. You should be able to have time to get to it. As even in current you will be in the same situation. The tumbling with the board is always a factor no one likes. You can release it and let the board go to the beach as well not ideal but you are not tumbling with it. A lot of factors when you have advanced or extreme conditions.
