"Form follows function." A classic watch can tell time (function) and looks really good (form). A smart watch can tell time, make phone calls, text message, send pictures, monitor heart rate, track exercise, call SOS, detect falls, make purchases, analyze your sleep, detect elevation, navigate, find your devices, play games, manage your tickets and passes for events, and do many other things. When I see someone with a nice, classic watch, I think, "Oh. That's a nice watch." When I see someone with an Apple Watch, I think, "I wonder how they use their smart watch, and if they use it in a different way from how I use mine."
When I see someone with a smartwatch, I think ah a regular nonwatch guy and a casual npc wearing a fitnesstracker like everyone. Its not that deep bruh
All those features outlined can be done with my phone-which i have on me all the time-except when i sleep or when i take a shower. So, having an iPhone AND an apple watch i just feel it's redundant... but thats just me and i know that this open for interpretation and some may disagree.
Classic watch any day of the week. When I’ve been wearing my Apple Watch, I got mostly annoyed by all the notifications and even health advice such as how long to wash my hands for 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I don’t want these stupid features in a watch. That’s what my phone is for if I am looking for information. And I love the craftsmanship that has gone into a mechanical watch
There both nice in separate ways. Depends on the occasion. If I’m at social gathering or family dinner classic watch it is, but from day to day responsibilities or at work it’s a smart watch I’m choosing
I have an original Garmin Instinct solar as a smart watch, but I appreciate traditional watches so I have a Timex chronograph field watch, a basic Casio G-Shock and Tough Solar ani/digital and an Armitron for a beater.
I just got the garmin instinct 2x solar , love it, cause even if it is still classed as a smart watch it don't feel like it in the traditional sense that my Samsung one did Its me good fishing watch
i have smart watch bought 2020 but today its in the bin now and i bought seiko kinetic on 2019 and untill today it still kicking and presentable even my automatic watch bought on 2021 still great rather than smart watch its yearly faceout
I prefer to avoid any additional sources of annoyance. When I need advanced features, I can just pull out my phone. If I need more power, I always turn to my tower PC. I will be able to live without a 'smartphone', not without a tower-top PC. A smartwatch simply isn't useful for me.
I think that classic watches cannot do as much as an Apple Watch is closer to a smartphone. Yet if you still have to carry a phone with you anyway as not all apps work on the Apple Watch and the screen is fidgety and small, having it is of little point for most. Classic watches hold more value as they get older. Apple Watches due to technology changes can change a lot over time in terms of what they can do rendering them likely to go obsolete as a newer model comes in. A classic watch is good after a long time but an Apple Watch from before 2020 is now outdated and cannot be resold for much money
Many models have that feature, especially those with OLED screens that always have an always-on display. However, some people, including me, haven't turned it on. I don't see the need to keep the screen on all the time and drain the battery when there's a lift-to-wake feature available. I'll lift it occasionally to check the time or see when a message was received.
@@dnationapocalypse must be a problem with your watch. I have the always on function enabled on my Apple Ultra watch, plus I stream Apple Music for almost 8 hours at work. I go to work with 100% charge…I go home with 80-85% charge remaining…

I had my samsung galaxy for a long time until ive decided thats it im not gonna recharge it every time so i moved back to normal watch right now i have the swatch omega moonswatch speedmaster neptune and im in LOVE with this watch looks way more elegant than a smartwatch with useless functions anyway.
A smart watch is a tool, a swatch is a fashion accessory. If I’m dressing up I’ll put on a nice watch, for the remaining 99.9% of the time it’s the smart watch 100%. A smart watch actually makes my life easier, a swatch just looks good and tells time. Thats it
Smartwatch destroys specially high end Garmin Tactical watches. Not only do they look incredible this days, but also perform some crazy shit. Classical watches are outdated and serve this days as pretty much jewelry for status and wealth mostly. I think in the future smart watches will be so far ahead that it will nonsensical to wear classical watch. I have couple of good watches, but i always have my Garmin epix and garmin tactix pro on the wrist.
People will still choose to wear traditional watches as personal heirlooms and fashion accessories long after smart watches have been replaced by neural implants. Assuming that they still behave like people after getting the implants and are allowed to choose.
Reality: traditional watches only hold or increase their value if you buy an expensive brand. Thousands, tens of thousands. Your $70 watch won't be worth more in 10 years, but a $10 grand one possibly will. A $200 watch won't be worth the same in 3 years, same as a smart watch. So, unless you shell out thousands, get a smart watch.
Its watch and tell billions more stuff than traditional watch does. Smart watch destroys traditional watch in anything. Traditional watch is mostly decoration and wealth expression rather than a time telling piece which it originally was intended to be.
Not quite sure. Freeze your apple watch in a block of ice, then remove it and boil it for 5 minutes and see if it’s functional. Pressurise it to 500m below surface as well. Mechanical watches are the AK47 of watches. Reference the mechanical Russian watches (Vostok) that was engineered for the military. Now that’s a tough watch and it will tick in a 100 years from now. Your smart watch creates a landfill issue, it’s the disposable culture we live in and wasteful. Edit: forgot about space. Mechanical will work in space. For telling time, a mechanical watch works much better because they don't have to worry about charging it and all of the smart settings like raise to speak. None of it will work on a walk in space because of gloves and zero gravity. NASA uses Omega

My thoughts when I see both.
Classic: “Nice watch”
Smartwatch: “So how many calories have you burned”
