I'm not saying that this performance is an example of this but there is a method where artists can prerecord a "live" not perfect but believable live performance and then that is played back so it seems more authentic than lip syncing to the original track. Janet Jackson used to do it back in the day. So it sounded live with imperfections but it was just as pre-recorded as a regular lip sync.
