    That advice about taking only 50-70% of projects is facts. Never thought about it like that. Also loved the portion on adding in how busy you are.

    Great video! I'm a long-time stills photographer trying to break into sports video and this was very helpful.

    Never thought about half day and full day pricing. I also need to charge more for editing....
    Live Streaming is a different story altogether. Hoping to crack the market in my area. This is only a hobby/ future small part time business for me. I make too much easy money at my full time job to leave it.

    what type of music do you use for your basketball videos? and how do u get around copyright?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  4 года назад +4

      I generally use hip hop tracks but I’ll change it up every now and then. I use copyright-free music subscription services for my music. Some common ones for you to look into are Epidemic Sound, Artlist, Musicbed, and Soundstripe.

      @@petersarellas quick question about epidemic sound bro. I have a subscription but what happens if my client posts the video i made on his page? Will it get taken down?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  3 года назад

      @@ricardo.i.i.i I’m pretty sure those licenses are for commercial use so if he gets a copyright claim you should be able to submit the link through your subscription and say that it was a video that you made for commercial purposes, but I’m not totally sure and can’t help with the specifics of that so your best bet is to get in touch with the music licensing service themselves.

    What is the best way to attain clients?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  3 года назад +5

      Hey there! One of the most important things to getting clients, in my opinion at least, is to constantly create and put your work out there across the web. If you don’t have a portfolio yet then get out and film anything you can, even if it’s just a pickup game at the park, and whatever you create put it out on Instagram, LinkedIn, RUclips, your personal portfolio website (make one if you dont have one), and anywhere else you can think of. If you keep creating and putting yourself out there your work will eventually get good and people who want work done will notice. This could honestly be a full other video topic that I’ll likely have to tackle in the near future but I hope this helps for now.

    I wouldn't hold the part about "too low" and "too high" to account for anything. Clients are simply being cheap, they are price shopping for that one gullible person that they can dictate and take control of all while getting it for peanuts and corn prices. The goal is to respect your value and not try to "fit in" where something never existed. Either they like your value or they don't. Content creation can run an easy $10,000 per month. If they are fighting over $500 for the day for photos and $1,800 for 1 video and a session of photos, you are not the problem, they are. Also DO NOT NOT NOT bill a measly $50 an hour for 8 hours, that's not even enough to live today!. CHARGE YOUR WORTH not the hour, you are a business not an employee. Clients are not paying your insurance, that's something I've NEVER put on my statements, they don't need none of that and it's never been an issue for me. I have Pre-Pro, Pro and Post and Editing lines, that's it
