All the debate over guns and weed, and yet where is the national outrage over alcohol? How many drunk drivers kill innocent people every day? And how many people commit crimes under the influence of alcohol? In my case, my dad would get violent and beat up my mom more often when he was drunk, and it eventually cost her life when I was a little boy in 1977.
Jamie now has 25 years to sit and think about her poor choices, and her destructive actions. I hope that anyone drinking who thinks they are ok to drive remembers this tragedy, and doesn't drive. Jamie also thought that she was ok to drive, that it wasn't a big deal, that things would be fine. And look what happened. It can just as easily happen to you or anyone else who decides to drive drunk. Don't do it. You're not special, you're not an extra good driver, you're not good at driving after a few drinks, you think you are, but you're like Jamie, likely to kill someone. RIP Samantha
It can happen even if you're not drinking. So do they deserve a decade still? This is ridiculous. Yeah it sucks for the family that she died but it's an accident.
@@kskid99 I think Jamie's behavior-- speeding 65 mph down a 25 mph narrow beach road where pedestrians and golf carts and lsv's are the norm, while being 3x over the legal alcohol limit is a lot of bad choices. Yes even without drinking, driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone on a narrow road would also be a terrible choice. Do you really think the crash would have been fatal if it was a 25 mph crash? You're the only one who sounds ridiculous here. RIP Samantha.

A lot of hypocrisy going on in these comments. Both parties made poor choices, both of those choices were in violation of the law, both of those choices lead to this incident. I'm not saying the charges don't apply here, but treating these victims like they're blameless is wrong. They need to accept that they put themselves in harms way. We can look at the timing of the incident and get tied up in the tragedy, but if this was any other couple driving a golf cart on the roadway AT NIGHT, when you're specifically not allowed to in order to avoid this type of incident, people would be calling them out.
@@jukeboxfandango And if it was a 1988 Geo Metro hatchback driving on that roadway? Does the drunk a$$hole then have a right to plow through it going 40 miles an hour over the speed limit? Did her vehicle not have headlights? Would she have yielded to a pedestrian walking along the side of the road? You equalizing the blame between both parties here is absolute bullsh!t.
@@Oli84-b6e - I'm not defending the drunk driver and stated as much, she pleaded guilty because she is guilty of the charges and there's not much more to that. Equalizing the blame is quite a stretch from my saying they're not entirely blameless. As far as the hatchback goes, it would be legal making the argument moot. It would also be allowed to move at the expected speeds, which would mitigate the potential impact significantly if the impact even happened to a larger vehicle with proper tail-lights. And while you're obviously choosing a car with a poor safety system, it would also actually take an impact instead of disintegrating. So I don't get what your Geo Hatchback argument is all about, it's nonsense.
@hankwilliams2761 it wasn't a golf cart, technically it was an LSV (low speed vehicle), and they are legally allowed to be driven on the road at night. Also it's extremely common beach town culture to have LSVs all over. Stop the victim blaming idiocracy. This irresponsible drunkard was going 65 mph in a 25 mph while being over 3x the legal limit all at night time on a narrow road. You are a rotten person. They had gotten married on the beach and they were being driven back to their Airbnb on a RESIDENTIAL STREET. The speed limit was 25 miles an hour and Jamie was going 65. You can legally drive a golf cart on a road with a speed limit under 35 generally. It wasn’t like they were operating a golf cart on a highway !

They were being driven in a golf cart on a residential road in a beachside community that is 25 miles an hour and Jamie was going 65. It’s not like they were going fast and furious with a golf cart on a highway. Are you daft ?
