@@imanolfernandez6238 hola! Se me ocurre probar el MSata con un adaptador MSata a USB en otro equipo y descartas que sea ese disco. Estos adaptadores no son caros y ayudan mucho para descartar problemas de este tipo.

@Tech InfoMania you made that look totally easy. Have a question for you. It looks like you replaced the wireless card with the mSata SSD. Is this correct? How do you have internet connectivity after doing this? Am I missing something. I've never thought about doing this. It looks like a great idea. I'm just concerned about how to still get on the internet without an internal wifi card is all. Thank-you.
dear, t420 hve a built in MSata ssd slot and wifi wireless card slot is under keyboard which is already installed when i pulled up keyboard you can see that clearly upper side
T420 can have MSata SSD and 2.5 inch HDD or SDD and we can also add 3rd drive in dvd caddy
so we can have 3 storages in T420

how do you get all of the storage drives to work? In my head I'm thinking if I add SSDs along with my default HDD the HDD won't be used for storage anymore, as I will want it to be from SSD. Hope that makes sense!
company provided slots for extra HDD, yes they are all working, i am a user who use 2 or 3 HDD maximum on Laptop because i need storage for my work

Should be 1333MHz, any Laptop ram company but up to 16gb of ram is all it can handle

@@pumpqnbelly3895 pretty sure T420 can only 1333MHz. but to be sure check on your task manager. should tell you the hertz it runs at. go to Task manager. Click more details. Click performance. click memory. The ram speed (mhz) should be under the graph next to speed.

Thanks dear, wifi card is fitted in its own slot, msata have separate slot, no connection of msata with wifi card and yes both wifi and msata will work absolutely perfect

Well msata slot started coming from 2nd gen very few machines and 3rd and in 4th selected models.
1st not having msata slot.
And express card can do many job for you, you can buy these things like
Usb 3.0 two ports
External graphic connector via express card
Esata connector to connect hard drive with esata option which speed faster then ordinary HDD
And many more.

I don't understand, your model is i5 second generation (as the mine too) but the max RAM that the mother board can handle is 8gb ¿how can you integrate 12gb there?

It works just as he showed. Mine is currently running 12GB, and the 4GB will soon be replaced with a second 8GB. It worked on the original 2012 BIOS, and the latest 1.52 (2018) BIOS.

depends on the work, if doing editing videos with high multi videos then took 1hour 15 minutes, and if watching movie or doing browsing then takes 2hours 10 to 15 minutes

T420 can have 16gb maximum ram, ram that use for 1st 3nd 3rd and 4th gen. Doesn't matter if you have 2gb and you are installing single 4gb more, will work, like t420 will get 6gb

en esta laptop solo funcionan dos tipos de disco, mSATA y el disco principal....el de quitarle la lectora y reemplazarle por un caddy no servira de nada, ya que la laptop no lo reconocera y si lo reconoce lo reconocera como si fuera un USB externo, en algunas veces cuando inicia windows no aparece el disco, lo digo porque hice ese proceso de adicionarle el disco y quitarle de la lectora

Dear bro. Well t420 support maximum 16gb of ram 8+8 and later on i installed becsuse mostly my use is video editing. Now as per website of lenovo, couldn't find any hdd support maximum capacity, some how, i used t420 for about 7 months with 16gb ram + 256gb msata + 256gb ssd + 2tb normal hdd in caddy removing dvd rom. And never get a single issue while using it and i was using windows 7 that time.

Processor can be upgrade from i5 to i7 but same generation. Like i7 of 2nd generation processor can be fit and will work.
Will not work if going for 3rd generation processor to fit in 2nd generation laptop.
And about ram.
If you laptop suppots 16gb then yes you can but you need to search on internet about matching ram accordingly

T420 can have i7 quad core processor, but you must know the mother board must be ok, no repairs done before, weak mother may not handle, and if you want to upgrade from i5 to i7 qm with 16gb ram with ssd then yes it would be good in performance, but check the cost and compare it with i7 3rd generation before upgrading.
By the way performance will become much better getting ssd hard drive and 16gb ram
Gpu cannot be fit in t420 if the laptop came without graphic card, and also gpu difficult to repair if gpu is out of work came built-in. I suggest to go with laptop that came inbuilt gpu
