I took the exam yesterday! Passed with a 124. Half of the questions are very easy pretty much common sense. The other half require some studying. The exam has a little everything on it.
I just wanted to give feedback on the apparent “new content” on the NCE exam! Honestly speaking, since I reviewed the test again after completion, majority of the test was rooted in career and group counseling! All sections were touched but within that context! There were probably 95 questions each surrounding Group and Career Counseling. 5 questions touched on child development while the other 5 touched on appraisal! The other 40 questions were surrounding counseling but appeared to flirt along the lines of neurological brain development. I studied The encyclopedia of counseling along with reviewing 800 test questions and honestly speaking, I did not need to study that much content because nothing reflected what I studied but possibly ten questions. The rest were scenarios and you had to choose the best answer as the counselor! Knowing how to take a test will help you pass more than studying a bulk of info because I needed to know how to read and comprehend and eliminate answers! Hope this helps!
How do you know that you passed? Did they give you the score right away? I got a score out of 160 but not too sure if that is the actual grade..please help.
Babykimi thanks for your reply. When I took my exam, there was a test number in the upper right hand corner of the printable testing sheet. I don’t know if that will help you though. Good luck!!!
@@craftyknitterash8867 thanks. I'm studying now for my test the first week of October. I'm using the NCE Pocket Prep app, the NCE Genius app, the DSM 5 Genius app and the 2012 Purple Book NCE app by H.Rosenthal. I hope I'm not over doing it. Your comments along with everyone elses omments have been so helpful. Thanks again! Will report back after October's test.
Dr. Rosenthal, you are so right! Most of what I have been studying has not been in the exam!!! It makes feel stressed and frustrated because I don’t even want to study anymore
I am not Jeannie, but I am feeling much more confident after failing twice by inches. I recently got the Purple book Rosenthall recommends and have high hopes of achieving a passing grade!!! ES
I passed my NCE! My advice: Definitely get the most up to date version of this man's purple book, watch all of his RUclips videos, and don't give up or get discouraged! I thought I was falling my exam badly, but I passed with flying colors! Also, even if you can, take your exam in person, not online! I had a bunch of tech issues online, which made my exam take far longer than it needed to, and almost ran out the clock for me to finish the exam on time!
@@boluwatifeowodunni2625 Harder than it had to be, because I foolishly took the test online, and had multiple tech issues. I also didn't have the most up to date version of Dr. Rosenthal's book ( I had the third edition)so I had to guess at a lot of the terminology. I feel I was just lucky enough to guess right on some questions. But I still passed with over 10 points above the minimum passing score. I used Dr. Rosenthal's Encyclopedia of Counseling, third edition, and viewed multiple RUclips videos, from multiple channels, on counseling theory, group counseling, counseling ethics, etc. Basically, all the areas of the exam. I also made use of Dr. Rosenthal's videos concerning the NCE. I studied for over three months I know I mention Dr. Rosenthal's book and videos a lot, but I really believe they helped. And the only thing I get for recommending his resources is the hope that others like you can pass as well. And remember, no matter how hard the test seems, don't give up! You may get a lot better score than you think!
No worries; you have about broke even, seeing how we should not really be in it for the money. Look at your wage as paying it forward for somebody and look; maybe you even saved someone's life!!
I purchased your materials. I have both editions. I am one that missed the email letter from you. Can you help me out? How do I get that email with that special code for more materials? Trudy
I need to know the latest edition of the review for the NCE exam. Well, I have the third edition, from the Purple encyclopedia, but I think it will not help me for the exam in June 2020. Which is the most up-to-date to help me pass it?
Grace González that book is fine and is what I studied! Pay attention to the boot camp section and go back in the book if you don’t understand a subject!
Hello all, I will be taking the NCE this Friday (10/09/20) and wanted to know if anyone can offer any more tips in passing the exam. Any suggestions/tips will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!!!!
@@angelag.4478 interesting that you say you did not pass because my college advisor informed me that if you score a 90 or higher you pretty much pass. Have you gotten you official report? I’m taking the exam on the 31st.
