I'm a teacher librarian and was looking for a good tutorial on how to make book earrings and found your video to be the most appealing to me. Mostly because I've already created a book challenge poster where every book I've finished, I print out the cover and put it on my poster. I absolutely love the idea of mini books in a jar! I've been updating my library's collection and have a ton of old books... I think using some of the old pages of books in these mini books would really be fun. Thanks for sharing this!
I love this idea of using old pages! However, as a vintage book rescuer, I hope you don’t use books that are in good condition! There are many home libraries that would love to have them. ☺️
@5thgentexan95 many of the books in my library were published in the early 2000s and were sent by book vendors in their own library binding. So, very little value. I understand antique books and am always on the lookout for some. I wouldn't gut an antique book like that!
Truly grateful for your video and how you went into great detail (actual step by step) making this project super easy to follow! I just finished printing and now to the fun of making the mini books! I will be making these every year. 🤩
I am FAR from crafty, but I love this! I may have to give this a go! Almost all of my books are on Kindle, so this would be a great way to still be able to show off my collection!
@CorinneBlackstone As a kid, I was all over the crafts! Then I started collecting things and never did anything with them. You're right - this may be just the thing to get me back into doing something besides just READING the books! 😂
Thank you for this tutorial Corrine! I was able to make a couple of Barbie-sized books today following your instructions for Canva. I used foam core for the “pages” though. Love how they turned out and I’ll definitely be making more! 😊
I saw a tutorial a few days ago that used white foam poster board for the pages which is a less messy, less time-consuming option as well :) these are absolutely adorable though!
This is so cute! All of the other tutorials had a more complicated instructions with the book binding process, and this is much better! Thank you for the vid!
Just love this tutorial! I'm part of a book club and I plan to make the facilitator a jar with all the books we've read over the last few years up to this point for Christmas. I make the ladies in the club all a different bookmark each year which I give them at our Christmas party that I host. But these books will make the absolute perfect gift for our leader! I plan to make myself a set, too, because they're so cute. THANK YOU for the clear instructions!
You can click "send to back" from the start it it will send the box straight to the back of both book covers. Or anything else on the screen if you're ever using that function for other things.
great video!! I'm an avid reader and always wondered how to make these. Looks like I will have some crafting to do. Thank you for the easy-to-follow video.
This is awesome! My daughter always makes her own little paper books with scrapt papers to use for her dolls. Now I'm going to show her this video and possibly make some for her dolls now 😉
Do you know how I might go about adding an actual spine from the book to these designs? As opposed to a colour? So it more realistically resembles the book?
Hello. Pardon my ignorance but do you have a video of how to print up pages for the 1/12 mini books that you make mini covers for? Even if it's just images & jargon will be fine. Just want a few books to not be blanks in my book nook. Thanks :D
Thank you for that video! I have a question. I have used modpodge once for little tags for christmas presents, but they turned out to be sticky. What can I do?
Thank you for this useful and clearly instructed tutorial in making miniature books. Loved it. QUESTION: I'd like to print the back cover of books that I want to shrink into miniature sized covers... is this doable? I also don't quite understand the reason for reversing the front cover for the back?
You reverse it so it looks the same back and front no matter which way it faces in the jar it’s not backwards. Yes if you can find images of the back covers you could shrink them
@@CorinneBlackstone Thanks Corinne, for your speedy reply. Thanks for the clarification- I understand the benefit of having 2 front covers, that's a good idea.
Thanks for this tuto. I m French but this is an easy to understand tutorial if you're not too bad at english. I love books and I have a lil' collections so I was looking for a craft like this :) something that I could make with my hands cause I do love manual DIY. I have a question that has nothing to do with this video but I m looking for a Circut as well.. Which Circut do you use the most ? I just wanna make some letter or stickers for jars mostly so I guess the Joy is enough to start with ? Thanks in advance if you answer^^
This is so cute! Just a tip Canva now lets you just hit the duplicate button, so you no longer have to copy and paste to get the two covers or make another rectangle.
I mean I get it but I can't assume they would be gone. They have been around for along time. And if the website goes away I just make a new video showing how to do it with another site.
@@CorinneBlackstone That wasn't a dig at you. It's just that I see more and more people relying on online sites to do stuff, but there's no guarantee that those sites will always be there. Of the websites I've relied on over the years for looking up information on various topics, I've seen a bunch of them just disappear. I'm not an artist and I generally don't make stuff like this (I like miniature stuff though, it's cute), but when I need to do something with graphics, I generally prefer to rely on using local, preferably free, software. There's probably not a program specifically for making miniature book covers, but the same thing could be done with other graphics programs. As a plus, I can think of a couple ways that this could be done in batches so that once the covers are saved, they could be resized and/or flipped all at once. I understand that not everyone wants to learn to use such programs and they just want to use what's convenient. I'm just a big believer in having the tools you use be always available locally. Call me old fashioned. :)
@@lurkerrekrul Get where you're coming from but telling her that she's the problem isn't really it. She's actually done something incredibly helpful by telling you the dimensions for the book itself. There are programs that you could use that data with in terms of the sizing. This is still a very useful tutorial even though it's specifically for canva. You just need to apply what you're learning to your local program of choice. (I'm probably going to be doing this on my phone via IbisPaint, so I may have a bit of an uphill battle on my hands)
OMG I love these! I'm going to drill a tiny hole in the finished books to make earrings and keychains! So cute!
So adorable! I host a book club and give my members a gift at our year end meeting... this has me inspired to create something for my ladies!😄💜

Hi, not sure if you will see this but would it be easier to use sticker paper for the covers?
You can use whatever you want to.
Im gonna try sticker paper too.
These are adorable!! I’m definitely going to try it!! Do you think the covers could be laminated before putting the pages in?
The issue with that is the mod podge wouldn’t stick to the laminate. But maybe if you did like super glue to the pages it would work

The same way you add the covers you would just need to find an image of the spine to upload

Instead of modpodge can you use liquid Elmer's glue?
Yes you can really use any glue as long as it’s not really runny.

Yes as long as it dries clear you’re good
