Using homebrew apps like snickerstream and NTR Boot, I was able to transform my modded Nintendo 3DS into a gaming console, creating the Nintendo Switch 2 before its release (lol).

In this video I turn my modded new nintendo 3ds xl into a gaming console like the nintendo switch. I turned my modded 3ds into a console by using different homebrew applications such as snickerstream, which let me stream my 3ds to my computer. I played mario kart 7 on my new 3ds xl from my computer after I turned it into a real gaming console. If you want to play online on your 3DS check out my Pretendo network tutorial! If you're watching this with the intent of copying what I did, please check out something called "Artic Base" instead its a much better method, I just did all these steps for the fun of it!
Snicker stream is nice to use for simplicity- In all honesty the Concept and Usage of arctic base would be less optimized for beginners IMO. Good video none the less.
Was just about to mention this (I have been mentioning it on all the snickerstream 3ds videos.....).

BootNTR + Snickerstream works only on New 3DS and 2DS LL because of their better hardware. Only runs one screen (your choice) at 30fps and the other at far less.
NEWER better way though to wirelessly stream that works on ALL 3DS models is to use Artic Base + Citra. Currently only works with 3DS games, but streams at an almost constant 60fps. Has upscaler options that can look quite nice if you want to use them. Seems to be compatible with 95% or so of 3DS games. Is still in development to get more things working (hopefully DS and DSi games in the future). Since everything runs natively on the 3DS, you do not need to dump games and all saves stay on the 3DS. Meaning once you disconnect the stream (turn off Artic Base) and you then just start the game on your 3DS, you can continue where you left off, since the game is on the 3DS as well as the Saves no matter if you're playing it on the handheld or the PC. Of course, Citra supports controllers, allowing for easy play on the PC as well and you can slap your overlays or OBS on it for making it look nice and streaming.

Now, Snickerstream is still nice. It's good enough that people can use it to stream on youtube at a consistant 30fps and is the original way to stream your 3DS to the PC (without a hardware mod). It is also nice that it still exists as another way to stream (more options is always better).
But it is so simple to set up Artic Base (on the 3DS) and Citra (on the PC) and the fact that it runs at a consistent, double the frame rate, there is no reason not to use this new method.

You could use artic base too and only needing two apps. One on your pc (lime3ds or citra artic) and artic base on your 3ds, old or new. And you can use your external controller too)

I bought a New 2DS just for this reason (already had an older model that can’t stream). Instead of streaming to a PC wired to a TV i streamed it to my Wii U so I could separate the screens and have touch support

I you don't have a new 3ds, a great alternative is to use ice base and specfic version of citra to essentially stream your rom over to citra (loading times are longer and not all games run well on citra but so far it's a promising and more convient alternative)
and it's a new 3ds xl which means it must've been a PAIN installing all of these files 😭

My crack head way of doing this is setting up artic base on my pc and then using moonlight on my homebrewed switch so i can use the switch controller and then docking it to my tv
They should of put play on TV option to begin with.

Something that would have been cool is Wii U and 3Ds forwards compatibility
You can actually stream the 3DS to the Wii U if both are modded. Then you have the top screen on the TV and the bottom on the GamePad with touch support
Try using a Wii u gamepad or Nintendo switch for a controller so we can still use the touch screen
Like it would be like a Wii U, just need a headless 3ds and hide the touch screen

You should really try Arctic Base and Lime 3DS. I've been playing Pokemon Y and even though there is some lag on loading between areas but I'm using all the rendering features of the emulator. I'm using 4x internal resolution, hybrid view, 8bitdo Pro 2 controller wirelessly and my wireless mouse to control the touch screen.
Just saw that I'm not the first to mention this but yeah, 3DS at 2000x1200, nice! With a beefy system you could go 9x resolution, 3600x2160, just about 4k but probably overkill.

How did you get it to connect to the internet? It seems it only accepts AP's with WEP. My home network does not provide that - the console does not show me a list of any networks..
you might as well had used Citra ☠ 30fps plus the low resolution plus the streaming latency is gonna feel horrible

Twix is another alternative to Snickerstream. I haven't tried kitkat, but know this approach to streaming is generally poor regardless of software (no audio streamed either). I think most players would be looking at Artic Base now.
