To claim doctors are working less hours because of pension levels of any kind is ridiculous. Doctors have served us well for many years and must be 'sick' of this tory government's running down of the NHS, who can blame for the pressure they've been under? Not to mention those that have been told to get out of our country they are not wanted!

@left_blank you can save as much as you want now that's true, and pensions aren't subject to inheritance tax either so hopefully it'll encourage some high earners to pursue a pension plan instead of buying houses to let. Also the tax free annual allowance is still a thing, it's £60k, but tapers down to a minimum of £4k for every £2 you earn over £260k so the obscenely rich don't benefit from that.
Just make it available for Doctors only - and not for Bankers, Hedge Fund Managers, Corporate Directors, Barristers and Lawyers, and other already wealthy business owners.....

The bonus of public sector pay offers are that over a 3rd is recovered directly and returned to the treasury via taxation. So using £6b to give them all 10% actually “only” cost around £3.8b .. it’s a ideological decision not to offer pay rises in line with inflation.

Spending on locums is not evidence of the potential psychological state of experienced Drs and their desire not to retire early. Did they even ask any? They are already wealthy and probably can retire with no problems after years in a stressful challenging job, who can blame them.....why will they stay? why does he think so? and she is right, he needs to say a number and state exactly what evidence that led you to think that.
You need to pay staff equal to, or near equal to what they can reasonably get paid in other countries. JUniour doctors, after 7 years of study are on £16 per hour. THey typically do 12 and 14 hour shifts and are on call. The NHS is undersaffed because NHS workers are over stressed and leaving for Australia,Canada and the USA. There is a vicious circle where this exodus leads to more stress. Meanhile Tory donors are creaming it in running agencies and getting contracts for services to privatised health care. This is a deliberate running down of the NHS and the Tories are profiting from misery.
When is the 350m a week for the nhs getting delivered…so far we are owed about 35B…where is it ? We all know the only reason for brexit was for the rich Tories to avoid their tax havens being made illegal…..
