I can't help but think of Breaking Bad when listening to this lol. One cook (PSA) guarantees 96% purity while another cook (BGS) can get 99% or better. It may not sound like a lot, but it's tremendous. Honestly, I think that if I owned a PSA 10 version a card, I accept that I do not have the "best" version. Pretty darn good, but not the best.

Of course it makes sense, they have luxury products of everything, otherwise people would always buy the cheapest most reliable, it's partly about showing off you have the money, it's also about pop count
Completely agree with this 👍 it’s part of the reason why I think ungraded cards and PSA 9 like cards will do quite well in the future. Cheaper, can be great condition still, and very low entry into the hobby. It’ll be wild to see if ungraded modern cards are even more valuable/rare in the future because so many rare cards get put into slabs. Just a thought As always, keep up the great content man. Your videos are always great at retaining my attention and I always look forward to a new video when I see them on my feed 👍
I've seen many PSA 10s that are eye watering off center! By far ARK slabs are the best looking in the world. Very underrated grading company out of Melbourne that are growing in popularity with the kids. My kids love them!
Your points on PSA not attacking this different level of collectors is valid. I do see your point, however, I still like the black label. It essentially adds more rarity to the card. You can still chase the card but chase the perfect one. What is wrong with someone wanting to collect these higher grades? I don't see it as taking advantage, but more catering toward another market. Collecting is what you make it to be, and what you want it to be. Cheers!
Came across your channel a couple days ago. And i want to say your look and insides on tcg is amazing. Thanks alot, have been binge watching your older videos! Cant wait for the next videos
I wish the Japanese slabs, with the minimalist metal label on the bottom of the slab, were more popular and valuable. Those slabs really make the card look like an exibit in an art museum!
PSA hasn't done it because they have the market cornered. It would infuriate all previous customers who got 10's too. Now they have to risk reviewing their graded cards for a higher tier but also potentially losing that 10 to a 9 if they get a grumpy grader the second time.
BGS black lavel looks the best right now. I'm also a perfectionist and my favorite cards needs the best slabs. Also PSA has their own bad reputation (damaging cards, poor grading, grading based offpackage etc)
I'll take Beckett over PSA most days of the week. Coming from Weiss schwarz, i see something in a PSA slab and wonder why not Beckett? Usually something in a PSA 10 case was because they could only get a BGS9.5 with it. I suppose collect what you want though. The Black Label quality is generally much higher imo. As for the price? Thats the market to decide. 1.5x to 2x a BGS10 is about right. BGS10 being a bit better than a PSA10 maybe up to 1.5x or so is about right so the Black Label being 3x a PSA 10 isnt too far off. Its all very dependent on the card too but PSA10 moonbreons arent exactly rare. A BGS10 BL is.
You said the two psa 10 moonbreons were perfect. You have to realize a psa 10 is graded on a scale from 94-100 in order to get the psa 10 grade I believe. So a psa 10 in MANY cases will not be a perfect card. There are thousands or tens of thousands of psa 10 cards with flaws. I’m not saying every bgs 10 is perfect either as I’ve seen quite a few with flaws such as clearly bad centering. Remember humans are grading the cards and they make mistakes often, Beckett just does a way better job than psa overall and this is well known and appreciated by the community. I’ve cracked Beckett 8.5 and it came back a cgc pristine 10, while I cracked a Beckett 9 and it got a psa 10. Beckett is better at grading. Are black labels worth the insane premiums? No! But I think it’s one of those things where collectors are just ok with it and have accepted it as the norm. Regarding the trade you mentioned tho, only a madman would have accepted a black label moonbreon over two Psa 10 moonbreons and the other terrific slabs combined.
Share your take here. Paying 2X for a black label could make sense but phillip made a case from a crazy person. The market won’t behave like that in the future.

is it a marketing ploy tho, bgs doesn't gain anything from it. Tcg as a whole sells based on people's wants.
I'll take a PSA 10 over a BGS 10 (Black Label or not) any day. Hell, I'd take a PSA 7 or 8 over a BGS or CGC 9. Why? It's not because I'm a fan boy of the company, it's just that my other cards happen to be in PSA slabs and I prefer consistency. I don't buy cards with the intent of to selling them down the road or to invest in, I buy them because I enjoy the cards. The current obsession with everything having to be a Gem Mint 10 in general is frankly and I feel like it sucks the fun out of the hobby
Yeah it does suck the fun out of it!
Psa can’t and won’t introduce a higher grade because it would simply,y devalue their psa 10s. Look at what happened with bgs…NO ONE CARES ABOUT BGS 9.5 OR 10. Only black label is what people associate bgs with.
I've heard alot of grading complaints, but thsi isn't one of them.
Alot of whiners in here. No one is forcing you to pay BGS to grade your cards Facts are its
the the best of the best and PSA is no longer the holy grails of grading.
