I got my best fish of the year -- a very thick 20" river smallie -- on a green frog-pattern Choppo. Same lure also caught a bunch of other nice bass and pike. I don't know of any store around here that sells Whopper Ploppers, so I've never tried one.
Joe Bruh who cares? Almost the entire game is made up of copied designs, and has been forever. Berkeley improved on it and made it considerably more affordable too. Same with their flicker shads. Most good river walleye guys I know prefer the Berkeley flicker shad over the rapala shad rap because it is cheaper, catches just as many fish, and also has quality hardware. Less painful when you lose one in the rocks too, which is common!
Whopper plopper 130 and 75 have a bigger prop then the 110 or the 90s and make the deeper plopping sound , it's my understanding the 110 and 90 series whopper plopper where made to fish over rock bottoms were less noise is supposedly more desirable.
110 and 75 have the same tail size. The 110 and 75 are also cupped around the joint to prevent the tail from clogging. The 90s are junk and roll easily. I’m fishing the 110 for smallies in a shallow river with pretty good success.
I have done really good with the plopper 90 on highly pressured fish in slick calm conditions and at night with no wind but not with any chop on the water. I'll bust out the 110 for that, or 130. I threw the choppo 90 and to me it fills the gap between the r2s 90 and 110. I also got the 120 choppo and can't wait to throw it. Both baits are similar but diff. I think they'll both have their moments where one will out shine the other. All of the berkley hardbaits I've used so far are LEGIT.
@@TCX-up6hs yea the 90 is pretty much useless in most situations. But when your on a pressured body of water, no wind at all you put a feathered treble on the back, reel it a few feet then pause and hold on. I've had times before where I'd reel it 5 ft or so and pause for up to 10 seconds and the first few rotations after the pause it got smoked. Or cast past a key piece of cover, pause it for a few and twitch it and bam. On that situation when the 110 and bigger are to much and they won't eat a popper they hit that bait.
Wasn’t a issue really with hooks being sharp as to them not holding good or bending easy. Especially with small mouth. Them like to jump a lot and throw the bait. Don’t have that big of a problem after we switch to mustard triple grips.
Berkley choppo is better..choppo's tail is bigger and more sound..the plopper is for more calmer water..but the problem with both of them is that the whole bait spins instead of just the tail
First few cast, caught one with Whopper Plopper 90, next hour nothing. Switch to frog, nothing. Switch to Whopper Plopper 90 again, nothing. Then switched to Berkley Choppo 90, then caught 7. Caught three in a row, one cast after another. Not sure why Choppo 90 worked better.
The Whopper Plopper is also a copy. That is why they cannot say anything about Choppo. Look up Deps Yudo, and the CC Roberts Mud Puppy. And there were others.

Berkley is the fisherman's friend with baits that almost everyone can afford
River to sea has much better products and Berkley is just a blatant copy

I still like the 3 bladed buzz bait by Strike King. You can work it slow and it’s still loud

You are right on that. The are similar but different. The sound is different. Might have to have 2 ties on.
The 110 is superior to the 90 in every single way. I consider the 90 junk although it does catch fish too!

Great vid. Only thing that would have made it better would be comparing the 130 Plopper vs the 120 Choppo vs 135 Smash tail
I did a comparison as well. I also liked the choppo more. Just subscribed
been killing it w the choppo this year
It’s hard to beat the Choppo
Thanks for the video. I might get the choppo
It’s a good bait. And has a great sound coming they the water
The Whopper plopper hooks are sharp as hell you don't need to change them out.

The Chappo comes with Fusion hooks so better than average hooks out of the package.
Nope. Trash. Replace hooks on either. Gammie MG GFinesse hooks. Deadly.
My hookup ratio is great with smallies and I’m using the 110 size whopper plopper. I’d love the 90 size if it didn’t perform like garbage!
😯
Great video
Thank you

great info brother!
Thank you. Hope it helped!
What's the average line size if you were to use Mono and/or Braided line for the 90 Ploppo and 90 Choppo?
If was to use mono I would use 14 to 17. On braid use 30 to 40
Man, the biggest difference is the choppo reeled in fast makes too much noise, so no cat a mouse run away bites on Smallmouth like WP.
good vid i just bought a choppo today
Thank you!
Another thing different of course is the price!
what size treble did you change to
I try and keep the same size but change to a mustard triple grip
I prefer braid for plopper style baits
Same here👍
@@OneObjective ah, looked liked you had mono tag lines on the baits you were holding
HellaBass yea did in that video. Just to cut and tie line quicker.

Different colors maybe? Could be timing too.
Was it a different color?
Water condition nestle quick, visibility .0000032 mm's 😂
😂
@@OneObjective at least they are topwaters. 😂 Great video. Great information.
OK thanks for the bid his much is a. Choppo??
$8-10 for the 90size at your local Walmart
@@BIGHEN_ my wal art in md. Us weak and dont gave much stuff.a few zoon and tum and some rapala a d b.s. spinning combos
Good Demo
Both work. Bass will eat anything.
Guess what!??
FISH DON'T CARE. It only comes down to is durability and price.
Prove me wrong.
Fish won’t bite it unless you spend $14.99 or more. They have standards 😂
choppo tail is to soft 🐟
The only difference between the two is that the choppo is a copy
