    Not sure if you or your followers are interested but Canada has officially shut down its Greyhound bus lines.
    As a result there is an auction coming up…might be able to snag a good bus at a decent price 👍
    Toronto-based auction house Corporate Assets Inc. is auctioning off 38 Greyhound Canada passenger buses in just a matter of weeks. The motor coaches, which can fit up to 55 people, will be auctioned off on January 18, 2022, at 10:30 am.

    Wow, it's a mess! At least it's now in good hands. I wonder who the last school district or user was?
    The missing air plenum is a fiberglass box that isolates the air intake from the bus's interior. I made mine easily removable so I can look down inside my air filter to check for deterioration - mine's the biggest Racor ECO-BC, so I'm surprised this bus has such a small filter. Is it original?
    The three switches/senders on the passenger-side thermostat housing are, from the left: the Crown high coolant temperature switch that activates the driver's red light and buzzer at 215 degrees, way too hot to be useful (but not anything to do with the DDEC overheat shutdown that has its own temperature switch), then the middle one is the front temperature gauge's sender, and the right one is the 195 degree NO/NC switch that's closed until 195 to send power to the radiator fan's hydraulic control block that uses a Danfoss 7WA110-2 solenoid directional control valve to divert some of the fan motor's flow back to the reservoir below 195, and at 195 the switch opens and shuts off power to the Danfoss valve thus making the fan motor run at full speed with full flow. Curiously, it's actually a Gillig assembly used in their Phantoms!
    I've had my Super II for thirteen years now, and there's not much I haven't yet discovered about it! I have all the factory electrical schematics (including the DDEC schematic), air schematic, full Service Manual and Parts Catalog from Crown, and lots of other info, so if you have any questions please PM me and I'll do my best to help you.

    Crown went outta business because they overbuilt their buses. A lot of school districts could get 30 to 50 years of service life from a Crown. In California, they had to make legislation to get them off the road before 2018 because schools where still keeping buses built in the late 70's to 80's in regular service. They thought they would just go away but nope, if it wasn't for the stricter emission laws you'd still the classic "twinkie" in Cali in 2021

  • @hotpuppy1
    @hotpuppy1 2 года назад +1

    Whatever school district that had that bus needs to fire their mechanics along with the supervisor. There is NO excuse for any of that. people's CHILDREN rode on that thing probably not that long ago. It is way too new for that kind of damage to be there. Tow truck that damaged that also needs to pay for the damage. Will need an alignment check to make sure it's not tweeked. Who knows where they attached the chains.

    • @fortyfiveseventy
      @fortyfiveseventy 2 года назад

      This was most likely a contractor bus outta California. The sketchy companies buy these from auctions and will drive these until the wheels fall off. I can assure you that if your school district can afford to get Crown's, they sure as hell wont neglect them. At the time they were the most expensive bus you can buy

      @@BusGreaseMonkey of course not, and I can speculate on how that bumper damage happened. Likely that the tow truck started to go up a sheepish hill. (like a driveway) Angles change drastically between the casuality and wrecker and if you don't plan ahead for things like that, this is the type of result you get. Granted, that bus should have been forked by the front axle and I'm not sure why it wasn't. Personally, I would have flipped my receivers over and used my tall forks as well as strapping the axle down. There is also a possibility that the operator didn't know this happened as well, but I can't be certain on that either.
