മള്ളിയൂർ ശ്രീ മഹാഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രം | MALLIYOOR SREE MAHAGANAPATHI TEMPLE
Malliyoor Sree MahaGanapathy Temple is in comparable in the conception of the presiding deity as Vaishnava Ganapathy, with a young Sree Krishna seated on the lap of Lord Ganesha. This unique and powerful infusion of the Vaishnava spirit in the Ganesha idol is the supreme achievement of the devoted penance of the much-revered main priest of the temple, Brahmasree Bhagavathahamsam Malliyoor Sankaran Nampoothiri. Today thousand of devotees flock to the feet of Vasihnava Ganapthy at Malliyoor seeking eternal salvation form the bonds of Karama and solace from the evils of Kaliyuga. The Malliyoor Maha Ganapathy Temple is believed to have come into existence much before the Perumals exercised their sway over the southern peninsula. The pre-Perumal historical records have many references to the importance of this place of worship. The deity here is conceptualised as Beeja Ganapathi, the trunk twisted rightward and carries on its tip a lemon, the hands hold an axe, a rope, a horn and a laddu, cradling little Sree Krishna in his lap. The Vaishnava spirit permeates the entire atmosphere. The story goes that a deeply devout and saintly Brahmin brought the idol over here from an unidentified and unspecified pilgrim centre some where in the North, centuries back. The family-deities Anthimahakalan and Yakshi worshipped by the once-powerful administrators of the temple also find a place inside the temple complex.

Landmark : To reach Malliyoor temple by bus, alight Kuruppanthara Junction in Kottayam - Ernakulam Road, (MC Road). Temple is 2 km away from the Junction. To reach Malliyoor temple by road, Turn (right From EKM-KTM and left from KTM-EKM route) at Kuruppanthara Junction in Kottayam - Ernakulam Road, (MC Road). From there follow the indications for the temple. Temple is 2 km away from the Junction. To reach Malliyoor temple by train, alight Kuruppanthara station in Kottayam - Ernakulam route. Temple is 0.5 km away from this station .
Important Offerings
The omnipotent Lord Vigneswara offers solace and relief from the troubles and tribulations of life. Special offerings to the bountiful Lord at Malliyoor grant all wishes and provide solace from illness unfortunately fear.
Mukkutti Pushpanjali
108 Mukkutti saplings in all their freshness, and without losing their roots and flowers are dipped in a mixture of ghee, fruit and sugar (thrimadhuram) and offered to the deity to the chanting of Mahaganapathi Mantram 108 times.
Ayiramkudam Jalabhishekam
Holy water from the temple well taken in copper pot is poured on Ganesh Idol 1000 times, simultaneously chanting mantras accompanied by conventional musical instruments.
Thadi Nivedyam
An offering of rice flour in varying quantities (approximately 3kg, 6kg, 1 2kg), is made to the Lord, to obtain relief from illness.
Pazhamala
A garland of 28 bananas (Kadali Pazham) is placed on the idol of Ganesha to off all obstacles and facilitate marriages.
Palpayasam
An offering of palpayasam is made to Vaishnava Ganapathy on twelve Thursdays, for the procurement of progeny (Salputhra and well beings).
Chathurhiyootu
An offering of approximately 1 2kgs of rice and curry is made to Lord Ganesha and offered to chosen people (Yogies) on the fourth day of waxing moon (Chathurthi) of every month. This offering is made to propitiate ancestral spirits (Poorva janma dosha parihara’s).
Udayasthamana Pooja
A complete offering is made to the Lord from dawn to dusk with measured rice, 18 poojas, Sreebali, lighting of lamps, Navabhishekam, and special nivedyam. It is an offering that showers grace and bounty on the worshipper.
Ashtadravya Ganapati Homam
Vinayaka Chathurthi is observed on the Sukla Paksha Chathurthi (Atha- Chathurthi) day in the Malayalam month of Chingam. It is on this day that the much renowned Ashtadravya Ganapati Homam is observed with 1008 coconuts. Apart from the coconuts materials such as jaggery, puffed rice, fried rice flour, lemon, honey, ghee etc are used in the Homam. 1008 small packets of medicinal plants such as karuka, mukkutti, koovalachamata, chethipoovu, nellu and an equal number of coconut shells are also used in performing the Homam.

ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഇപ്പോൾ ബിസിനസ് വഴിയിലാണ്‌. മുൻപിൽ തന്നെ വിഹ്‌ന നിവാരണത്തിന് നാളികേരം ഉടച്ചു കയറുക എന്ന ബോർഡ് കാണാം. വലിയ കാശുള്ളവരെയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രഭാരവാഹികൾക്ക് വേണ്ടത്. വേറെ എങ്ങും ഇല്ലാത്ത തരം നിയമങ്ങളും. ഗണപതി ഭഗവാന്റെ ശ്രീകോവിലിനു സമീപത്തുള്ള നിലവിളക്കിൽ എണ്ണ ഒഴിക്കാൻ പോലും പാടില്ല. ഒരുരൂപപോലും കാണിക്കയായി ഇടരുത്. ഭഗവാനുള്ളത് എണ്ണയോ, ഗണപതി ഹോമമോ, ഇഷ്ട്ട നിവേദ്യമായോ കൊടുക്കുക. ദക്ഷിണയാണ് ഇവരെ അഹങ്കാരി ആക്കുന്നത്
