So many fun reading plans! You've reminded me that I have a ton of books in progress that would be nice to finish by the end of the year too. I think you've inspired me to do this same video and think through what I want to read in the next few weeks! Also, The Hearing Trumpet sounds pretty awesome - if you do reread it, I'll look forward to hearing more details.
A high school English teacher gave us Jong poems to study but I don’t think _Fear of Flying_ sounds appropriate. It almost makes me want to read it to understand what you are talking about. 😂 Maybe you can do a meme video (🤪) because I tried to figure out what you mean by Flop top (???) memes but my search availed no results. Anyhow don’t trouble yourself because I am far removed from the online cultural zeitgeist.
I'm not sure about her poems (though I know she also publishes poetry) but I also don't think Fear of Flying really appropriate for high school kids - not so much because of its sexual content, but because it's a story about an adult (imo rightfully) complaining about things and I'm not sure teenagers are going to connect so well with that 🤣 I don't think I can do meme videos well. I'm an observer since I don't use TikTok where that meme originated. You can try searching for "floptok" and you can expect to find silly remixes by a random Chinese lady and a female rapper 🤣 It is sexual, feminine, and queer in a ironic and surreal way, and has its own lore, apparently. I'm not sure if you'll enjoy that content 🤣🤣🤣
Ohhh, Valley of the Dolls. I read it in high school and super enjoyed it. All I remember is young women drinking, taking pills and having sex. I have no idea what actually happens, but I would not be surprised if its some sort of morality tale and the women all come to a bad end!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it (even if you don't remember what happened in it now) because then I might like it too! I do seriously hope it's not a heavy-handed morality tale though. Reading books with obvious morals hammered in bums me out!

It would be very interesting to see your plans too!
I think very likely I will re-read The Hearing Trumpet, but I definitely recommend it in advance!
Really want to read Toni Morrison! I’m thinking of starting with beloved
I've only read 1.5 so far haha - but you should totally do that!
