Your smile when you figured it out is priceless.
He figured it out about halfway through. lol. That's better than a lot of reactors do. Thanks for the review.
Your reaction is priceless. Excellent.
Omg, that was funny! Stan started putting it together really early in the song. Some reaction RUclipsrs don't get it even after the song is done.
Ray Davies is the best songwriter on the planet
The Kinks are the original punk band!
I love watching reactions to this song! That moment when the reveiwer realizes what the song is about is pure GOLD!
'She nearly broke my spine!'
'Ah yes, we get a lot of that in here.'
xD
Great reaction! Absolutely loved watching you put it all together throughout the song! 😂You made my day!!!! 😊❤
You pulled it together and the light bulb flickered and then switched on
Great
And it's based on a true life incident that happened in a nightclub back in the day.
Great commentary LOL a warning she was all thanks Ray Davies You Really Got Me
Stan. I think you would also like Lou Reed singing "Walk On The Wild Side" . It has a similar theme to "Lola"
Priceless reaction Stan! I was laughing my butt off when I realized you figured the twist out! lol
I grew up with all the music from the British Invasion. The Kinks were huge & had a lot of hits. I especially love their music from the 60's & 70's. "All Day & All Of The Night", "Set Me Free", "Tired Of Waiting For You", "A Well Respected Man", "Dedicated Follower Of Fashion", "Sunny Afternoon", "Dead End Street", "Waterloo Sunset", "Autumn Almanac" etc.
Their music was fabulous, and fun. It was a great time to grow up.
You're priceless. 😎
Your facial expressions said it all. 😂
I didn't realize until I was an adult what this song meant 🤣 I just thought Lola was a really big girl
Lol
The British approach: What you do in your own bedroom is your business and nobody else's. It's a "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" attitude.
Also, there is a tradition of playful (sometimes subtle, hidden) innuendo in British life.
If you haven't yet heard the Kinks/Waterloo Sunset, it's very good.
Regards from the UK!
I love this song and your reaction! I had no idea what it was about when I was a kid. LOL
Great song. GREAT lyrics but it's an earworm. You go around singing "Lo Lo Lola" forever
I love watching "Lola" reactions. Seeing the moment the person realizes what the song is about is absolutely priceless.
This was banned in the UK by the BBC. Not because of the Trans lyrics but because it says "Coca Cola" and the BBC didn't allow advertising or product placement. So to get air time in the UK Ray Davis changed the lyrics to "Cherry Cola".
His LOLA detector started kicking in early in the song.
This is the best reaction I've ever seen to this joint lol. Your smile how it grows as ish starts to get a little wild. Gotta love it. My spider senses hahah
Some day I may make a reaction video to reactors reacting to Lola!😅 Welcome to the early 70s, Stan. We could have used you then but glad we have you now. Great job on the one {snicker}.
Such a cheerful reaction to a hilarious song. Hey -- he was glad that he was a man, and she was too. Nothing unusual about that, eh? I really am going to have to give the Kinks more of a listen, based on this uplifting reaction. umm - as it were...
Nearly 55 years ago that came out.... ain't nothing new under sun! 😊
Great music great live band
Had to subscribe, Fantastic reaction , All the best from Wales. U K
Thank you
One suggestion to the comic artists: give Lola an "Adam's apple." Some folks need a visual clue, other than the lyrics. This song i's still so relevant I'm surprised it hasn't been adopted as a theme song for some social movement!
Lola is based on a true story. The Kinks manager was out clubbing and spotted this gorgeous “ woman “ they hit it off and partied all evening. It wasn’t until later he found out “ Lola “ was a man!
Surprise!
glad you liked it
Love your reaction.
The Kinks on the cutting edge. Next (Lou Reed, Walk on The Wild Side). and (The Nails, 88 Lines About 44 Women).
The expression on your face😂
Even the band’s name was really weird for that time in the UK, because “kinky” is a uk slang for someone with weird sexual fantasies, and a kink is a perversion.
released in 1970, long before the LPGLOWIQ (alphabeth in my dialect) movement.. song was banned in the USA..
😂❤
Ray Davies wrote this about a real experience he had at a nightclub.
A lot of people only listen to the song and the words go straight over their heads
The only part that caused a problem back in the day was "Coca Cola" they had to change it to "Cherry Cola" or the BBC would not play it
I just think of that scene from Crocodile Dundee 2 "just making sure"
YEAH…
"20th Century Man" by the KinKs should be next!
😂❤😂
Urban Legend LOLA... Kinks being all woke back in the day!
Not even close to woke. Just a great song about one aspect of the human condition. I grew up in the 60's. No biggie back then.
👍
"They drank Champagne all night". All of us gotta' keep an eye out for each other under those circumstances. LOL. Yes, this is a true story. It really happened to the singer-songwriter Ray Davies. As if that's not bad enough on another occasion it even happened to the Kink's manager Robrt Wace in Paris. Keep in mind, this song written in 1965. Buy the way nothing became of these "happenings", both Davies and Wace are straight men. Alcohol is a dangerous drug. LOL
LISTEN TO MORE ENGLISH 60S BANDS & 70S
the cartoon is very misleading. Lola was a drag queen. He was in a drag bar and totally clueless...until it dawned on him. Then he decided he liked it.
Stutter....wake up listen
KINKS, "LOLA". DESPITE the Transvestite lyrics. The music, and singing was unmistakably the best. For that reason Lola, became ONE OF my favorite sounds by Ray Davies, and the KINKS..
Lola sounds like a fun girl!
