This's something the people around me have lost, is what a friend is. Social media's reduced it to a click and an icon, but I hold with the old version. Friends are people who's back you have. Who you tell the facts, can trust to have you back, give you the facts, even if you don't like 'em. Like in Young guns. Pals. But if you asked the people around me what a friend was, it's someone they chat with they barely know the name of and don't give much of a real flip about.
As a woman, who not only love this film but I truly admire and aspire to have a friendship like Rick and Cliff. I thought it was a beautiful showcase of a great friendship.
More than a description, this was a beautiful poem. Cliff really stands out for all the folks who go home alone to their dogs and monotonous life instead of all the super and inexistent heroes masses love watching.

This stoic hero along with the, wise kung fu master and the lone cowboy are Hollywood tropes in my opinion. But I really like your thoughts on the matter. Emotional control is the hardest thing for anybody to master and its especially important for men to do so. Living simply and being in control are important, but can be mistaken for lazyness and apathy. Make sure you do not do the latter.
