If you watched the Army-Navy game, you would know that Navy doesn’t run a true triple option. Get ready for QB power, counter and sweeps. They move around who gets optioned on each play. Very smart offense that will be blocking 10-on-10 every play.
Hawkins mentioned that he has improved his foot work through coaching and that is needed as he has two critical flaws in my opinion: 1) busy feet, not settling, and 2) improper weighting and length of front throwing foot leading to a higher throw and loss of velocity on the ball which comes from thighs and core; he has a strong arm but needs to rely on his core to develop that velocity and spin required to compete in the SEC. I feel he is a better athlete than Arnold and has a very high upside. I believe with one more year under Arbuckle and the new QB coach (along with some playing time on blowouts), that he will blow it out and become a potential Heisman candidate in 26. So, let's get Mateer in here with some studs in the receiver room (please stay and be healthy Gibson) and an actual Oline and let the SEC know what OU football is "all about in 2025" - BOOMER!!!
In all the years of being an OU fan going back to my freshman year in 1967. OLD, OLD, OLD. This year and this staff has brought more chaos than I've ever seen with an OU program. Ever. So, I hope it's an aberration and not something that is a deeper problem.
I agree I was a freshman in 1964. Worst I have ever seen. Jackson Arnold reminded me of Dean Blevins. Dean’s quote I have not forgotten. Playing QB at OU is like reading War and Peace. Dean, from Norman, was suppose to be the next great wishbone QB. Just like Arnold he bombed out.
And that truly is grateful he's here. Hawkin's loves OU, and it means a lot to him to wear that jersey with " SOONERS " across the chest. He plays for pride, not just NIL earnings, which is an aberration these days.
Best news is that arbuckle is a QB coach. He will get Hawkins feet calmed down. And so will a new O line. He will have better protection to step into the pocket. I bet he is much better by next year
BV has great intentions and I believe he still arm and arm with the compliance department when the nature of college football today is like the gunfight at OK corral or to put it more bluntly like Tuco said when you have to shoot, SHOOT DON’T TALK!!!💰💰💰💵💵💵💸💸💸
If you want to evaluate the future of the program the question you would want answered is, why are 23 kids leaving one of the most successful programs in the best conference?
Hawk is going to win the Heisman next year. As a navy veteran so glad to see navy beat army tonight. I went to the army navy game when I was in the navy so I always root for them but I'm sooner born and bred so let's have a good bowl game
I don't think they were injured all year cuz the 1st chance they had to leave they took it so something is going on with coaches and players we don't c and it's not gonna get btr I'm sure.
I firmly believe that with the right people, Hawkins has the potential to be outstanding. Regarding the injuries, it appears that most of them were fabricated in an effort to safeguard a year of eligibility. OU needs to HEAVILY recruit in-state kids. Oklahoma athletes can compete and it just means MORE!!
Highly unlikely that the injuries were fabricated. If they were faking it, their scholarship would have been pulled and they would have been kicked off the team.
If you are a true offensive coordinator, a man of innovation, how about putting Sawchuk and Tatum out of slot receivers you would think they would have a athletic advantage, and everyone keep saying they have good receiving skills!!!
Surely Hawkins was given an NIL raise either during the season, or after. Once that tape gets out, even if some of it's bad, other coaches see the good.
Even if OU didn’t have any injuries on the oline that was still a very mid at best oline. And thinking one 5 star 18 year old kid is gonna fix there oline problems is ridiculous
People are living in denial. zero reason for mateer to not already commit, so OU can get receivers. Why are top wr's going to come here if there is no one to throw them the ball? Nothing about him waiting makes sense. you can be in the portal, commit and still have a no contact flag on you while playing a bowl game. I hate to break it to folks, but BV is a pathological liar at this point. Remember when he told everyone all the wr's were coming back? Now he tells us that they were planning for them leaving the whole time. There isn't a single word that comes out of that mans mouth that I can believe now. Remember how the wr's were coming back VERY SOON all damn season starting from fall camp? don't worry because there's complementary football, multiple layers, complexities, reading you off the plays of the game like you didn't just see the shit mess yourself.
Lot of high hopes on Mataar this belief that every qb goes with his OC is wild. Galf the time they dont enter portal and the other half they never go where they oc go

We need Hawkins starting, he's OUR future and a DAWG. Mateer wasn't playing in the SEC, he's was playing in the mountain west. Huge difference from the SEC. Ya'll didn't notice the difference all season. Burks is coming back. Hopefully, God willing Nick comes back. BV got to the medical 💩 worked out. No more of that 💩. WTF! BOOMER SOONER
I get this take but in context the first year was bound to be difficult (roster wise). Taking in to account injuries and the new schedule, this year COULD be an aberration. Wont know til next season though. Boomer!
Yall are all insane and im not drinking the koolaid. All yall hyped Arnold and how did that turn out? Also we all saw Hawkins also have to grt benched for not taking care of the ball just like Arnold. We need an actual QB. As of right now we dont have a QB.
You just have to ignore the people who want OU to fail, which most probably will not occur..This comes from fans for other SEC teams and fans of teams all over the country. It comes from big sports media personalities who have their own favorite teams. Ignore.
Sooner needs quarterbacks hawk injury and problems gotta go .don't get quarterback in portal for one year gone NFL graduation need offensive and defensive period
De'Mond Parker might not have played on great teams in real life, but OU was completely over powered in NCAA Football his last year. You could announce your running plays, and they couldn't be stopped.
Guys do you ever listen to yourselves? No matter what the topic is, you always find a way to trash OU and trash venables. No matter what you're talking about, even if it's good news, there has to be a trash moment for Coach Venables. Do you think he caused the injuries to those players? Do you realize that this last season, instead of having players to work with, he had a department that spent well over $4 million on the rehabilitation of players that never even played on the field? Do you think about anything like that, or is it just too tempting to trash everybody. You're the most negative podcast I've ever heard in my entire life.
Yes, some is his fault with padded practices during the season. A failure to be on the same page as the medical staff. Not to mention hiring Litrell and keeping JJF.
Hawkins has the spirit and skills to be QB1 for sure. I loved his will in the Tennessee game. He gave it his all!
Hawkins is staying at OU. I hope it works out for him.
If you watched the Army-Navy game, you would know that Navy doesn’t run a true triple option. Get ready for QB power, counter and sweeps. They move around who gets optioned on each play. Very smart offense that will be blocking 10-on-10 every play.
I think it is bad timing for BV. With everything on his plate, his family needs to be first. Even over FOOTBALL!
I agree

The deeper problems are the Transfer Portal, and NIL!

Big problems

Agreed
Im glad we have a QB that is ready to COMPETE.
The problem is he has nobody to block for him and nobody to throw to and incompetent coaches

He is either going to be correct, or he is going to be fired. That's the reality of the business.
Don't forget without Hawkins, OU doesn't beat Auburn.
Don't forget without the late interception for a TD that OU doesn't beat Auburn.

Danny Stutsman, you are an ALL TIME SOONER GREAT!
Hope I am wrong, but it doesn’t seem like OU is serious about winning and seems to be ok with being Mediocre.
I guess this is what Hawkins supposed OU WR brothers and friends thought of his ability to be QB1 for this team, they all bounced.
Nothing to do with Hawkins!

It doesn't seem that OU solicits donations for their NIL collective like other programs if at all.
Who are we going to throw too?????
