    The engraving on the obverse of the 20 gold is just outstanding. Absolute beauty... I'll look up Michael Hillegas. Sounds interesting.
    Also your Redfield book recommendation was outstanding. I read it in two days, what a fascinating story. And it happened in Reno which is very familiar to me. I'll definitely get a nice Redfield hoard dollar soon. I also noticed that the mansion recently sold. Still looks awesome. 👍👍

      Yes, the engravings are outstanding. Glad you enjoyed the Redfield book. He was a character ! I actually won a Redfield dollar recently in an auction. I never wanted to pay much for the attribution, so I was surprised when I won it for $60! It is an 1881-s. I will have to do a video about it soon.

    Freaking awesome notes dude.I picked up a 1928 gold certificate, I was gonna do a video on it,but got too busy this week. Just a few things to add,I did some research. Under FDR's executive order 6102,there was an exception to that under section 2b,if you owned less than 100$ of any type of gold,or if your gold coins had a special value to collectors,you could keep them.There is also a misconception about when you were allowed to own gold again,that came under President Ford's executive order 11825 in 1974,which repealed FDR's order. I have the 1922 10 and 20,but seeing your 50 makes me want one.Take care my friend 👍

    Not sure what happened I got kicked out of the live stream thing. Anyhow, again great notes my friend! Now you need to put together the small size 10, 20, and 50! One of my many ideas on a type set I'd like to some day complete. Anyhow, to answer your question about the comments on notes, it all depends on what type, how much of it is, where the imperfection is etc. Notes tend to have a significant amount more of variables when it comes to things like damage, stains, annotations, tears etc. compared to coins in my opinion. When a coin is cleaned and received a details grade it almost 100% of the time knocks the value down a good 30-40%. Since currency tends to already be fragile as it is, I feel collectors are more lenient and take into consideration all the factors and more I mentioned above. For instance, a stain often times isn't the end of the world as is the case of your grant note. It can be somewhat difficult to notice at first and thus very subtle. So for something like that it shouldn't affect the price all that much. Now if it has some serious rust stains that would be a different story. Same thing goes for the rest of NET options notes may have. Anyhow, thanks for sharing friend! I will be posting a very soon one some currency. Enjoy!

      Paper currency wasn't graded until 1998 by CGA(currency grading and authentication).So it hasn't been that long.I think over time,grading standards may change.

    One more consideration I wanted to mention to support my theory I commented on that notes have more leniency than coins do. If you think about it ANY note above a 20 should receive the EPQ/PPQ designation if it's completely original. Just like coins that are straight graded it's assumed that the coin has original surfaces. However, MANY notes do note get that all the way up to AU especially common notes. Therefore, something must be going on with them beforehand and indeed this is the case. For instance, a note can be pressed which prohibits it from ever receiving the EPQ/PPQ designation. However, it STILL won't receive a NET or comment grade. This is the norm in currency and these non EPQ/PPQ notes without comments are considered "problem free" and sell for the fair market value. Now don't get me wrong EPQ/PPQ will return a slightly higher premium, but what I'm trying to get across is the fact that many notes which are comment free receive their full potential in value when selling even though they have been altered in the past to some degree. This once again supports my notion that notes have more variables. Have a good one friend! That video is up on my end.

    Fascinating. I have a $100 ungraded gold note that I paid $140 for. Not sure what it's worth. But what is a "mule note" (3:27)? Mule coins are like half penny struck & half dime struck errors.

    • @Ontario100
      @Ontario100  4 года назад +1

      This is always been hard for me to explain so, I found this definition online. "A Mule note is a note with a front side printed with its series number that has a different size than the printed series number on its back side. In the past, a currency’s series number used the same sized plate when printing on both sides of the note. When the plates switched to a different size for the back, this moved the location of the series number placing it in a slightly different location."
      Hope that helps. I appreciate all your comments and questions. 😀👍
