@7:03 Fast workaround for this (in desktop version) do select all (crtl+a) and then shift+click the folder to deselect just that one. You can grab all the rest and drop it into the folder.

Great tutorial, you obviously know the program well! My only wish is you would either slow down on some of the more complicated items or be zoomed in on your screen slightly better so I can see which buttons/functions you are using. Otherwise, really wonderful. Once I get the hang of this program a bit better (coming from sketchup) I will use your code to get the subscription. Got tired of running up and down stairs from the shop to the computer, so hoping to make use of this when in the shop better!
Lastly, and I definitely agree with you, I hope the guys @shapr3D add better dimensioning. It is such a powerful tool on sketchup to have that ability to quickly dimension anything and see it from all rotated angles.

I feel SketchUp have a steeper learning curve than Shapr...As a design engineer who’s used a lot of different programs, I’ve been recommending Shapr to anyone who’s just getting into CAD. I’ve been recommending this program before they sponsored me. Feel free to ask me any questions about the program and I can try to answer the best I can. Shapr also has a good series of beginner lessons on their RUclips channel.

I can’t set the drawer front size like how you’re doing at 17:47. It will let me click the line of the sketch (drawer front) but not the line of the side of the cabinet. When I exit sketching then try, I’m able to select both lines but it only gives me the option to move both of them and does not pop up that ‘distance’ box that you’re getting.

I’m curious about how you would center up the leg assembly. It seemed that it wasn’t perfectly centered in the drawing from the start and the half lap and the position of the legs would be in different spots. I realize once building for real you can center everything up but just wondering how to set this in place. Seasoned SketchUp user and brand new shaper3d user.

Thank you for posting a tutorial related to a furniture build and Shapr3D. I hope to see more. This video tutorial was very good relative to the other Shapr3D tutorials available. However relative to other tutorials for programs like Sketchup this tutorial is ok. Like the other Shaper3D tutorials out there this video progresses far to fast for me to be easily useful. When you say ‘I use the translate tool...’ for example by the time I’ve figured out where/what the translate tool is you’ve already moved on. I am appreciative for your time and thankful this wasn’t 30 minutes of music and warp speed sketching. Maybe as a raw beginner to Shapr3D I’m not the target audience. I’m sure more experienced users got much more valuable info from the vid.

The program automatically think you’re trying to do a subtract function. There’s a button for you to click on to change it from “subtract” to “new body”

  • @angieangie21

When projecting the bodies onto the wood sheet to create the woodworking diagram - how do you get the bodies with the chamfer to project the widest (down) side? If I tap the body face it projects the top (narrower dimension) onto the sketch?) I find I have to select the whole body but end up with issues if there are also cut out areas in the body as it projects the perspective view of the cutout. Any ideas? I hope that makes sense . Thanks :)

12:28 The second leg axis isn't exactly symmetrical to the first one, though. (Not that it matters much for this demonstration. Great insight into the app. My brain doesn’t work that fast but I picked up some valuable tips. Just need to watch it again and again. Is there a RUclips slow mo button??

Yes, there’s an option to slow the video down in the options

What about the saw thickness? Some space for the cut whwn aligning on the board.

    • @BevelishCreations

I never include blade thickness in my layouts because I don’t mark the locations on the boards and then cut everything in one go

Love it! Hopefully I can get as comfortable with the program as you are. Some things were done so fast I was confused. Also, @ 1:07 when we see your Home Screen are those shortcuts on the left? And if so, what are they used for and maybe you could do a video explaining? I am all about learning to be more efficient! Cheers.

Yeah they’re Apple shortcuts. My channel isn’t really an iPad/tech channel. You can search for “shortcuts on iPad” and there’s a lot of stuff on it.

I really like how sketchup lets me move whole pieces by the corner and auto aligns them. I also miss the tape measure function when using shapr3d instead of SU. I have a lot to learn to become this fast at shapr3d.

Random question- wanted to do the iPad setup as well. Do you use the iPad for film editing at all? Torn on how much on board storage to get. 512gb , 1tb, 2tb, thanks!

Hey I don’t use my iPad for editing. Even if you do edit video, you can edit off of an external SSD drive. It’ll be just as fast without taking up internal storage

Apologies for such a slow response. I use this app for my wood shop and am just finally getting around to using it. What I would like to see is more individual functions. Meaning spending a few minutes talking and walking through specific functions of the app that are utilized within the design process. As I’m trying to follow along with you while you work you move very quickly so there’s lots of pausing, rewinding, and replaying. I loved seeing the bridal joint and dado abilities. Maybe basic cabinetry? I’m a slow learner when it comes to these things.
Also I’ve recently purchased my first CNC. while I’m waiting on it I’d like to if possible use this app to design projects. Is there a way to import designs into the CNC machine? I’ll be using Aspire software with a OneFinity machine. Thank you!

@@BevelishCreations Actually, I am unsure if it is a game or just an empty space/building. Sorry if I was not clear on my question. I am trying to figure it out how to take my interior design skill and use it in the metaverse. People who purchased land with buildings need to furnish their meta homes. I have some furniture sketches that I want to turn into 3 D model assets and use it, and I offer metaverse interior design services.

Hey I want to invest in an iPad and start using shapr3d. Do I need to get the iPad Pro or could I use the air? What’s the benefits of the pro?

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  2 года назад +1

iPad Air will run the program fine, but IPad Pro has a bigger and better screen, better cameras so the AR tool in Shapr3D and other programs will be much better with the Pro. iPad Pro has M2 chip, so it will (in theory) run the program better. But all programs are limited right now anyway so the chip isn’t going to make that much of a difference at the moment, but may be better in the future. The biggest thing for me with the iPad Pro is the screen size and screen quality. I don’t just use my iPad for Shapr3D. I do 90% of my work on my iPad, and only use my computer for video editing.

@@BevelishCreations Thanks for the reply. Yeah guess really the bigger screen would be nice for sure!
