- This is SNAKE SABO from SKID ROW and my reaction to our first time watching TOMMY JOHANSSON perform 18 and Life.

Fantastic reaction, thank you so much for doing this. I had a feeling Snake might like Tommy's cover and I'm so glad he did. Too many people who know Sabaton have no idea Tommy is a singer, and it's really a shame. Glad it seems to be changing

I think this guy is talented in his own abilities, even if he doesn''t have the same abilities as the original singer of the song, Sebastian Bach, and certainly doesn''t even want to be like the original singer of the song. But i think Tommy Johansson put all his talents into play to perform this song and it''s a performance worthy of credit. It would be interesting to hear what Sebastian Bach, the singer of the Skid Row band, would think of this performance by Tommy Johansson as sung by him. 🤔🤔🤔

A REALLY beautiful reaction by Snake! Tommy takes on songs that no one EVER thought could be redone properly not even close! He chooses the most difficult songs to reproduce She's Gone, 18 and Life and Alone by Heart and he breathes new life into them and in my view, actually surpasses the originals..which has been unthinkable till now.
18 and Life is a song that will continue down the annals of music history.
It's one of those songs you instantly know and recognize.
And it's a damn great song at that.
Everything from the beat, the melodies the lyrics the guitars and the solos are phenomenal.
Tommy even looks a little like a young Sebastian Bach!

Tommy Johansson is such a fantastic musician. Amazing with the guitar, but also bass, keyboards, some drums and he sings with almost 4 octave range, composes and arranges and all. Seeing Mr Sabo's approval made me smile as well. I was in high school when this song came out and I've loved it ever since. Greetings from Sweden! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I've heard it said that Tommy has played drums before, but I've never seen evidence of it. Are there any videos of him playing them?
@@Metal_Auditor I think I’ve seen one but I can’t find it now. But in an interview with the Swedish rock magazine “Rockbladet” on Dec 20, 2020 when they talk about how he often gets challenged during a Sabaton show to sing or play keys, he mentioned that he also plays drums but he wouldn’t tell Hannes to step aside for him to show off. In the same article he actually also reveals that he’s more comfortable playing piano than guitar, although he doesn’t play it as often (as guitar) these days.

I thought he was a lot younger than 35. I called him a very talented ‘young’ man not realizing he was that old. But still my kids are older than he is. Lol

It literally brought a tear to a grown man’s 54yr old eye watching Snake’s reaction to literally one of my all-time favourite songs. Tommy also does incredible tributes to Gary Moore, he’s the only artist I’ve ever known who seems to capture the very heart and soul of every track he covers. Seeing Snake’s reaction though, utterly priceless - you could see in his eyes how this blew him away. It’s rare that cover songs sound as good as the artist they’re covering, yet Tommy takes things to a whole new level - I’ve yet to be disappointed by the genius. Superb upload, incredibly humble of Snake to praise it so highly as well, you could see he was moved by that. Me too! 😉🤘👍

Edit: Thanks RUclips - only a year late with this one, seriously, thanks, and thanks again! Sometimes I really wonder why I bother with Premium at all - for better music quality obviously? Oh right. Yeah. RUclips deliberately compresses the audio on the free service to make it sound worse than it really does - premium only sounds ‘better’ because it’s not being deliberately sabotaged.

When I think of Skid Row, I think of 18 & Life. When I listen to 18 & Life, it brings me back when Skid Row influenced me, along with some other bands, to pick up the guitar, and start playing Rock/Metal music. I still play 18 & Life till this day, at 45 years old 🤘🏻 and if Snake's reading this, I want to say, you, Scotti and Rachel are awesome, and now with new Rob and Erik, Skid Row has returned into our lives! I'm a fan of Erik in H.E.A.T and now he's in my all time favourite band Skid Row 🤘🏻 now my only wish is to see you guys in person and I my life is complete!!

Thinking of it, that i only know Tommy can Sing, as he did one for Sabaton as Filler, when Main S. were absent nearly Decade ago. Thought, hey do some on your own, works great. I werent at Concert of them a long Time, does they implent Tommy nowadays on an more frequent Base?
He has his own band... Reinxeed, now known as Majestica. But he does sing a little song on every tour with Sabaton these days.

He is a great singer, but IMHO uses too much effects and digital stuff - with his voice natural straight singing would be much more enjoyable - so not Hating, just saying my opinion..

Not bad, admittedly. Compared to Erik Grönwall, however, there is one thing that really holds Tommy back. The Swedish accent. Seriously, his pronounciation is borderline terrible.
