You should react to their kingdom performances because we can see that they give they all in it, they even did a dance collaboration with ateez and a member of BTOB (and it was one of my dream to see ateez and stray kids on the same stage !) It was incredible ! But all stray kids performances on kingdom was just amazing for me, you really should take a look on it ! 6:00 the choreo is meant to be that way! He’s supposed to be walking to the center for his part :) also, if you know stray kids, they NEVER half ass their performances, and that they’re one of the most all rounded and talented groups out there. Dance practices tend to be a little less energetic because they film them several times in a row and it’s not a real performance, it’s a practice. 10:40 actually that's it. it's very common to single out the member that's singing while some others have "blank" faces because it's supposed to be a change of focus. if you check live performances of any group on music programs such as mcountdown, music bank, inkigayo, etc, you will notice that kpop choreos are made with having close ups shots in mind (that's specifically discussed with the camera crew) in order to highlight point moves. sometimes the members "tone down" the dancing in order to balance the one that's supposed to stand out (especially if that one is more of a vocal than a dancer) while the others blend in, and also to save energy because they do have to sing live :]

at 5:12 I think it’s supposed to be a (?) pause of the choreo since after there’s the strongest part??? honestly I didn’t understand the ‘they’re lacking some strength’. Maybe it’s because the guy in the front it’s not the main dancer so he can’t hit the moves perfectly?? But honestly I don’t think they’re lacking anything ........ And at 5:51 the guy doesn’t forget nothing, it’s part of the choreo 🤣🤣 If you watch the stage performance you see that they are very good performers (facial expressions!! ) !!! I think that in this particular song they focus more on the performance than on the perfection of the choreography

If you are interested ACE is a kpop group that has a lot of high energy dances (under cover or take me higher) and is a rather well balanced group regarding dance skills. A reaction wouldn’t garner as many views as they are not that popular but I think as a dancer you’d still enjoy them. Just a suggestion, I think since a lot of the 'issues' you point out in dance practices are things like lacklustre movements, blank expressions or parts where one person is not doing anything (or walking), its best to then react to a performance video right after the dance practice so you can see these issues being addressed and see how the whole thing is supposed to look like (and know why some parts are the way they are, like with Minho walking to the centre in this video where you thought he forgot the choreo). That way you can actually see the proper thing, just a suggestion based on the overwhelming consensus in the comment section! Thanks

They did several fan dance practices for this. I can see them seeming and being tired. However in this particular song, I personally feel in this song...its more about selling the song. The dance is part of it and I feel they have a bit more liberty for more personalized dancing. The song is about them "cooking" and serving a menu of music to satisfy any palette. The dance moves reflect and imitate cooking and actual cooking gear. Its extremely high energy so I imagine a few practices would tire them a little. These guys are more about performance though than perfection. Live they are a force. They will do many songs with live vocals and are still standing and smiling in the end. My husband and daughter saw them live and said it was non stop energy. The mv for Gods Menu is worth a watch btw. Also Btw I saw Seventeen live who is also performance but much more perfectionist. I think you will enjoy them a lot. I know they are on the list. I'm just looking forward to it. I also think you would really love the most underrated underdogs in kpop, A.C.E.

Thanks for making this! Like everyone said Kpop dances can be a little unusual because they are designed to be isolated by close ups and camera work (a lot of songs you’ll see dancers just move and stand to the side) so they aren’t always “complete” from a front view angle. That being said I thought everything you said was fair and insightful! It’s tough since Lee Know (orange hair) is our main dancer and was called out a lot but tbh he looks tired and he’s dancing tired, so like I said a totally fair observation. Please check their song back door soon it’s so fun and interesting!

Don’t take his criticisms too harshly. Reading through the comments is ridiculous. 😂 I love my boys too, but damn. He doesn’t have a lot of knowledge of Kpop, but offers a lot of criticism of dance. And most of it is positive. Don’t take it to heart.

The one you said seems uncertain is Lee Know(Minho) He definitely was not uncertain. Lee Know is the head of the dance sub unit of Stray Kids(Named DanceRACHA) and has helped choreograph multiple of their dances. He was also a back-up dancer for BTS at one point.

  • @PhillipsLacy

If you watch enough of their live performances, you'll note that Hyunjin, the taller main dancer who GOES HARD the entire show has his backing vocal track pick up the ends of his phrases because he often can't control his breath to sustain through the end (and he doesn't even pretend he's singing that part live, he'll throw off his mic into a movement and just let the backing vocal finish it up for him, but you also KNOW he started it off singing live). The way they handle the choreo AND mixes is so damn smart, giving main vocalist Seungmin lyrical movements so he can keep his vocals stable and putting him in the back of formations so he can kind of mark and not get too out of breath since his singing parts are so much more demanding than other members. Everything is tuned to be a fantastic stadium show while also keeping in mind where camera placements will be for televised stages. In some of their dance practice videos, their camera operator rehearses with them holding a cell phone and they tour with him. It's a really intense level of planning and execution. Next level in every sense.

At 5:30 you mention that one dancer is not making any dance movements while he's taking the central position and you say that you don't see why because he's not singing. He's actually the next one to sing when he gets to centre. In kpop they usually slow it down right before they turn arives if they can to steady their breath. I think it's pretty common to see that specially on actual performances rather than rehersals. He probably just does it without thinking even if he doesn't need to catch a breath right there. He's actualy the main dancer and worked as a backup dancer for major groups like BTS before he joined Stray Kids so I wouldn't think he's bad at it or that he just forgot, he's probably economizing movement with his singing in mind.
Anyways, I really like seeing you analyzing coreography! Great work man! :)

I think something to remember is Hyunjin is quite taller than everyone else….except maybe who? Seungmin? So sometimes when he’s dipping lower than everyone else it’s because he’s used to having to compensate for that height difference. Like when Mingyu ends up next to Woozi🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ but what do I know?

Dance practices doesn't really require them to sing. It's a dance practice they focus on the dance and that's leeknow the guy that just walk is the main dancer that's just how he is but in live performances he can move hard core.
