It did not age well. Agree 100% on Crazy Babies. When I tell people I don't like that album I sing that song exactly how you sang it 😂
"Walk" is an okay song, but I have to completely disagree with you on "Sweating Bullets" and "Crazy Babies". I like singing along with those two, for sure. "Sweating Bullets", to me, is just pure, unadulterated fun, as my inner Mustaine always comes out for that song. "Hindsight is always 20-20, but looking back, it's still a bit fuzzy", what a great lyric!!!!

Typically their most popular songs are consistently my LEAST Favorite from their respective albums, but this is easily the worst offender for me as far as "Why the fuck is this so popular?". Amon Amarth - Guardians of Asgard - I was introduced to this band just before this song came out, I immediately gravitated towards their earlier stuff. So many great songs with amazing lyrics and storytelling and then there's this song which just feels like 4+ Minutes of Johan Hegg screaming "GUARDIANS OF ASGARD!" over and over. I don't get why this is so popular among their fans, it feels so poorly written compared to so many brilliantly written songs throughout their discography. Iron Maiden - Aces High - One of the first Maiden songs I'd heard when I was first getting into them since it's among their most popular songs. Just don't get why it's so loved by so many, I feel like they have so many better songs. (In my opinion) Iron Maiden - The Trooper - Similarly to the other Maiden song on my list, I don't get why this is such a cherished song by them.
Good topic. I love Alice In Chains and they're one of my favorite bands. However I always disliked the song Again off their 1995 self-titled album. Cantrell's solo is nice, but Staley's particular vocal stylings on this song (where he mumbles "uuu" "oooo yeah" during the chorus) just sounds so irritating and bring down the song for me. And I loved Staley as a singer too!
I think for most people, like me, who believe that Metallica's back catalogue is a game of 2 halfs, Enter Sandman might be one for us/ them. The day when they went more mass appeal, radio friendly and really started to shift millions of units. It's a contentious one because it's still heavy, sold loads, and is well liked. If you like it, then great, there's one more thing bringing joy in your life and I'm glad that you like it. For the rest of us, though, first hearing that Bob Rock/ Motley Crue/ Dr. Feelgood swaggering groove from a song we were told was by Metallica, was a huge wtf moment, the end of an era, or the beginning of the end taking place. It was when I went from 'there's new Metallica stuff coming out - wow'! to 'there's new Metallica stuff coming out - meh'! One fun fact about Enter Sandman is that, at the time, The (now resigned) Lord Of Edgedom, Papa Het, was going to include a line, or two, in the lyrics, that would have changed the meaning of the song, entirely, and make it be about S.I.D.S. (or 'cot death') but he was talked down from the edge of edginess by Bob, who advised him to strongly consider the lines 'take my hand, we're off to never never land', instead of whatever, ill-advised, probably Misfits inspired, lines he was considering singing to invoked the mental image of dead infants, in the listener's mind. Career suicide, in other words. At least, in terms of the trajectory, in which, that song was to, eventually, take them. So I suppose everybody involved (including me) owes Bob Rock a debt of gratitude for that.
You summed up my feelings of the Black exactly, I'm would venture to say that is a generational thing as I know younger people who that was their album and their gateway into metal.
I just don't like any of the Radio friendly Pop attempts that Judas Priest has included on otherwise good albums. I just don't think Judas Priest are very good at Pop music.
Well, that would include just about every post-grunge or nu metal song recorded after 1996. Y2K-era hard rock/metal is clearly an acquired taste that most hard rock and metal fans love to hate. I really hate that song "Inside Out" by Eve 6, which came out in 1998. I like just about everything by stoner hard rock band Monster Magnet except their weak cover of Unicorn's "There's No Way Out Of Here" (covered and made famous in 1978 by the great David Gilmour.) MM's biggest rock radio hit "Space Lord" can at times sounds really monotonous. Their best song is "Negasonic Teenage Warhead."
I’m considering making a video about why we do get so triggered and upset when someone doesn’t like the same music, song, guitar tone, kick drum sound, vocal style or whatever. There’s so much music out there that it’s of course logical that we’re not all going to like the same thing. It’s like getting upset that someone doesn’t like the same type of movies that you do, people take it real personal though, and I’m not sure why. Something I might explore in a video.
Nothing wrong with your picks (to each their own anyway), but most of them are not really popular songs even among fans of the bands. "Sweating Bullets" is one filler among plenty others on 'Countdown to Extinction", as far as I'm aware. I don't think it was ever a live staple or a single so it's not exactly a controversial pick. I don't like "Symphony of Destruction" off of that same album, and that one was the main single and still one of their most popular songs ever. It's a bit similar to how I feel about "People of the Lie" by Kreator or pretty much the whole black album by Metallica, especially "Enter Sandman": these are very basic and very mainstream-oriented hard rock songs by formerly intense thrash bands and they always felt like cash grab attempts to my ears. There's nothing in it for me musically. For Megadeth, the title track and "This Was My Life" are great songs in their own right, but that's about all I revisit from 'Countdown'. I'm not familiar with "Crazy Babies" by the Ozzy franchise, but I'm not a fan of the Osbournes in general, to put it mildly. One great album ('Blizzard of Ozz') and a handful of other great songs scattered here and there were released under the "Ozzy Osbourne" name, I can't deny that, and I appreciate those for what they are. Ozzy's involvement doesn't keep me from loving early Black Sabbath either (as a singer in that era of the band he was the perfect fit). But I still despise the man, his manager/wife and all the theft, manipulation, and abuse they've done in order to build the completely imaginary Ozzy "solo" "artist" concept and make millions of dollars from other artists' works over so many decades. Even ignoring all that and strictly judging the material that was put out under his name, the second album was already a weaker offering overall, although it still has great stuff on it, then "Bark at the Moon" (the song, not the album) is one of the greatest piece of heavy metal ever, and then... that's just about it as far as I'm concerned. 'The Ultimate Sin' was cheesy and boring, with the only pretty good song on it ("Shot in the Dark", ofc) being outright stolen (which is par for the course with Ozzy in general, but that one time he got caught so that was swept under the rug as best as they could). And I've never heard anything worth my time from "Ozzy" after that. I remember the hype around 'No More Tears' (mostly due to the "farewell tour" BS) and I remember how unbelievably bland it sounded when I gave it a try. I remember feeling simultaneously sorry for Geezer and mad at him for making 'Ozzmozis', and also how bad the music videos I saw from that one were, and the songs attached to them. And then I remember Black Sabbath completely and durably falling apart because of the so-called 'Reunion' embarrassment, then the drama, the legal shenanigans, the propaganda and revisionism, the decade-long hiatus and eventually the forced split and shared ownership of the "brand". I'm not a fan of Ozzy. ^^
I don't care for Pantera either and I cannot tell you how many times I've told a Pantera fan I am not into them and they immediately link me the song Walk as if that's supposed to win me over. The only Pantera song I ever cared for was 10s. I'm sure you'll get a few people in the comments predictably telling you to "Walk on home, boy!".
@sykodelikskyfrog it's more the idea that someone assumes I dislike this band, but HAVEN'T heard their most popular song a million times. It'd be like if someone said they didn't like Metallica and you sent them Enter Sandman.
@cardeli That's from their second golden age, which lasted from 1916 'til Sacrifice. Great track with a meaningful lyric. Not as good as Lost in the Ozone though, now that's a beautiful and powerful song.
That one is not on the list, that one would fall into the "Totally burnt out on this song" category. I never loved that song but used to think it was pretty cool...that was until I heard it for the one millionth time..haha
@@LairoftheAlchemist I can’t argue with that. Same for me, although it still works for me hearing it live. Everytime. But that’s oc a different discussion. Looking forward to your video. 🤘🏼
Totally agree about Anthrax and the jokey element. One of the reasons I don’t like a lot of Zappa. Some of it works, but a lot of it doesn’t. Not funny and annoying .
Here’s my list: AC/DC • You Shook Me All Night Long Iron Maiden • Run To The Hills Judas Priest • Living After Midnight Queen • Fat Bottom Girls Led Zeppelin • No Quarter AC/DC: I adore the Bon Scott era, but I don’t really listen to anything past Back In Black. Iron Maiden: Though I find it hard to listen to Dickinson, I still liked their first six albums quite a lot. Judas Priest: They’re one of my favourite bands of all time, regardless of genre, but this is atrocious. Queen: Love most of their catalogue, but they sure came up with some dismal tracks from time to time. Led Zeppelin: I never like them that much, if at all, but this is just torture. I do like Sweating Bullets, Walk and Mistress For Christmas, though. Ill’ briefly mention: I love Megadeth in general, I can’t stand listening to Brian Johnson’s raspy squels, and I never cared for Pantera that much.
@@duanedibley1455 Generally speaking I find it pretty hard to endure Led Zeppelin anyway, but stuff like No Quarter or The Ocean and similar sludge really drives me up the wall.
So many bad ones. I hate Guns and Roses but Sweet Child O Mine is the most annoying. Your picks I agree with you, especially Megadeth, the vocals are horrendous.
I agree wholeheartedly with the Megadeth choice. I despise that song. Also hate Crazy Babies. I'll go further than that - aside from the song No More Tears I dislike everything Zakk Wylde has ever played on. I'm the Man was a goofy novelty that was a big song just as I was getting into Anthrax. Didn't mind it that much although I can't imagine choosing to listen to it these days. Mistress For Christmas shouldn't have been on the album, for sure. I hated Megadeth's Mechanix and the covers of I Ain't Superstitious and These Boots. Can't stand Don't Tread On Me by Metallica. The very first Metallica song I actively disliked. Hooks in You and Public Enema no.1 by Iron Maiden. I mean they had maybe 3 or 4 slightly 'lesser' songs on their entire 7 album run in the 80s, but almost the whole No Prayer album was a huge step down - and these particular couple of songs would have failed as jokey b-sides in the previous decade.
I never liked them, I wanted to go with bands that I generally liked. If I were to list the Limp Bizkit songs, I don’t like I would’ve had to list their entire catalog.
I know...whenever I bring them up I get people angry. I honestly think it's just my age, if I was ten years younger and grew up on metal in the 90s I probably would have worshipped them.
You don’t like walk…..I forgive you😂never a fan of don’t fear the reaper……BOC……Aerosmith……love in an elevator, big ten inch, Janie’s got a gun, dude looks like a lady…should I go on…..Queen…radio ga ga…….I know I’m probably in the minority…..Zeppelin…..Kashmir
I don’t like it…awesome if you do. I love, Randy Rhoads Guitar tone and a lot of people don’t like that so to each his own. Plenty of guitar players out there and Guitar tones. No need to have to like everything.
I hate to say this but I honestly think Pantera is overrated. One song that always annoyed me was Living After Midnight. I'm a huge Judas Priest fan but what were they thinking!? Could there possibly be a more cheesy 80's anthem than that? It just doesn't fit with the rest of their music.
Lots of people have brought up "Living After Midnight" and I agree but when I was younger I thought that song was OK...totally don't want to ever hear it again now.
For evigt - Volbeat Fuel - Metallica Girls, girls, girls - motley crue (this song has one of the worst choruses I've ever heard, makes me nauseous) Living after midnight - Judas priest Can I play with madness & Bring your daughter to the slaughter - iron maiden (WTF maiden) I would rather listen to someone 🍑💨 in a 🎤 for 3 minutes straight than having to endure any of these songs.
Rainbow - If You Don't Like Rock and Roll ruined the debut album. Always hated bouncy Honky tonk piano, especially coming from a band with Medieval imagery
People can hate on grunge all they want, but nu metal is way worse than grunge ever was. And while I'm on the topic of grunge, that song "Suck You Dry" by Mudhoney is absolutely annoying (even more than anything by Nirvana.)
Metallica - Through the Never, and Skid Row - Slave to the Grind were pointless fast songs for the sake of being fast songs. I actually like the other tracks from Slave to the Grind, but the title track just seems like it was recorded to try to cash in on the trendy Thrash Metal market of the era.

Priest; Turbo Lover and Parental Guidance, for the TERRIBLE lyrics. Mistreated (by anyone) because it's boring, sorry, just to clarify, I find it boring.
I don't think anyone blames you for not liking Walk. The most over played annoying song by the band. It's the one song every non-metal fan and casual likes.
Kiss and AC/DC can be very wrong and tedious with too much silly repetiton, Anthrax and Pantera I never liked their discography, Sweatimg Bullets is silly so I Agree. The Angel and the Gambler and Heaven can Wait are not my favorite songs by Maiden. Ozzy sometimes is also childish and uninteresting, his voice becoming monotonous and evoking yawning and sleep.
Guns N’ Roses - Patience How can people like this boring piece of shit? Everybody claims it’s one of the best ballads, but every fucking time I hear it, it makes me wanna fall asleep. Truthfully, I’ve never been a big fan of GnR to begin with, but this song just flat out sucks. The instrumentation is as bland as an Air Supply song, Axl sounds like he’s about to fall asleep for a good chunk of the song, and even though it’s 6 minutes long, it feels like 6 hours. This shit makes “Open Arms” by Journey sound like “Painkiller” by Judas Priest. TL/DR: Patience is boring.
Totally agree with that. But I disagree that Pantera was Hair Metal. I Am the Night is Heavier than anything they did after they abandoned Metal to Sellout with their Tuff guy White Supremist Hip Hop Whigga Jugalo garbage. Music to Hop like rabbits to. I absolutely hate Nu Metal, and tired of people claiming that Pantera kept Metal alive in the 1990s. Pantera kept Skinhead Rap - Redneck Hip Hop alive and betrayed True Metal for money, drugs , and groupies. Going from Diamond to Dimebag was hardly a step up. They dumbed down their music with simple Rap beats, and the only thing related to anything remotely Metal were the lead guitar sections, which were simpler than the pre Cowboys From Hell albums.

Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, I love Zeppelin, but I hate or actually loathe that song. Plant's moaning and those aa aas are so off putting that I can't listen to it. Another one I'm not fond of is Since I've Been Loving You. Walk is a horrible song with that boneheaded riff and like you mentioned those "are you talking to me?" stupid ass, childish lyrics. Pantera haven't aged well, if someday I want to listen to them, it's only The Great Southern Trendkill. Megadeth's Sweating Bullets is also a highly annoying number, they have such an excellent 80's output, they should play more of those songs, or substitute it with The Scorpion from The System Has Failed, that's a great later era song.

Never liked:( and I like all these bands)
I can’t Drive 55
Cemetery Gates
Silent Lucidity
Mama I am Coming Home
Thunderstruck
I forgot about 55...that should have been on my list.
I hated silent lucidity too
I just don't like any of the Radio friendly Pop attempts that Judas Priest has included on otherwise good albums. I just don't think Judas Priest are very good at Pop music.
I agree
You might like the remix I did, "Phil Anselmo and TLC - Walk On Home, Scrub"
Sounds interesting!
Judas Priest - United, Metallica - The Memory Remains, Iron Maiden - Can I play with Madness, Van Halen - When it's Love, Savatage - Streets
I almost put "Dreams" by VH on my list
That KISS song tho… I had wiped it from my memory 😂😂😂
Sorry to bring it back up...haha
It’s sad if someone gets triggered bc you don’t like what they like. True losers if u ask me.
Mistress for Christmas made me cringe and it still does. What were they thinking.
Should have been a stand alone single, shouldn't have been on the album
I don't care for Pantera either and I cannot tell you how many times I've told a Pantera fan I am not into them and they immediately link me the song Walk as if that's supposed to win me over.
The only Pantera song I ever cared for was 10s.
I'm sure you'll get a few people in the comments predictably telling you to "Walk on home, boy!".
@sykodelikskyfrog it's more the idea that someone assumes I dislike this band, but HAVEN'T heard their most popular song a million times.
It'd be like if someone said they didn't like Metallica and you sent them Enter Sandman.
@sykodelikskyfrog yeah I've had people do that to me with multiple bands, but Pantera fans are by far the worst offenders.
Even though "Bastards" is a great Motörhead album, I could never stand and always skip Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me.
Yeah...I know what you mean.
@cardeli That's from their second golden age, which lasted from 1916 'til Sacrifice. Great track with a meaningful lyric. Not as good as Lost in the Ozone though, now that's a beautiful and powerful song.
"Savage" by Judas Priest (Cool solo, though)
"Holy Smoke" Iron Maiden
"Sad But True" Metallica
"Sweating Bullets" Megadeth
"No More Tears" Ozzy
I love "Savage" and "No More Tears"...but I agree on "Holy Smoke"
Same. Solid picks.
Thanks
Don’t you tell me „Enter Sandman“ is making that list. 😠
I'll tell you were it works...when I'm at a sporting event, it's a song that totally works in that enviorment.
Have you heard Pantera’s Power Metal album?
Yes, I like their early stuff.
I Am the Night and Power Metal are solid.
Totally agree about Anthrax and the jokey element. One of the reasons I don’t like a lot of Zappa. Some of it works, but a lot of it doesn’t. Not funny and annoying .
Zappa is an acquired taste for sure .
Here’s my list:
AC/DC • You Shook Me All Night Long
Iron Maiden • Run To The Hills
Judas Priest • Living After Midnight
Queen • Fat Bottom Girls
Led Zeppelin • No Quarter
AC/DC: I adore the Bon Scott era, but I don’t really listen to anything past Back In Black.
Most of the songs you listed would fall under the "used to love them but totally burnt out on them" category.
No Quarter? Wow.
Your picks I agree with you, especially Megadeth, the vocals are horrendous.
both bands I love but I'm not a big fan of Let Me Put My Love Into You off Back in Black & I've never been the biggest fan of Overkill by Motorhead
I like both those songs
"Public Enema" is a terrible...I mean terrible song title but I actually like the song.
Can't believe Limp Bizkit is not on the list honestly lol
I never liked them, I wanted to go with bands that I generally liked. If I were to list the Limp Bizkit songs, I don’t like I would’ve had to list their entire catalog.
@@LairoftheAlchemist haha! Fair enough!
@@LairoftheAlchemist Excellent assessment of that band.
I know some people are gonna get triggered by you disliking the Pantera song.
not me. :D
I know...whenever I bring them up I get people angry. I honestly think it's just my age, if I was ten years younger and grew up on metal in the 90s I probably would have worshipped them.
He's going to get flooded with meathead Pantera fans each thinking they're being clever by telling him to "Walk on home, Boy!"
I agree Pantera sucks. Ironically, I like their "glam" melodic hard n heavy era. Some of those songs are killer.
I agree
Even worse than mistress for xmas how about the darkness xmas time dont let the bells end, what a pun that is, ho ho ho
never heard that one
I like Pantera but I always thought Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills was cringe.
Never heard that song,
It's not even a song. Just a filler with Phil talking.
Some day you too will know my pain, and smile it's blacktooth grin...yeah that is the most cringe song by Megadeth but the chicks love it.
I guess you have to have a song for the ladies.
Reaper and Kashmir have me scratching my head (I guess you don’t like cowbell or booming drums? 🤣) but completely understand the rest of your choices.
Love in an Elevator is a tough listen for sure...haha
Guy says he doesn't like the guitar sound of Dimebag.. smh.
For evigt - Volbeat
Fuel - Metallica
Girls, girls, girls - motley crue
(this song has one of the worst choruses I've ever heard, makes me nauseous)
Living after midnight - Judas priest
Can I play with madness & Bring your daughter to the slaughter - iron maiden (WTF maiden)
I would rather listen to someone 🍑💨 in a 🎤 for 3 minutes straight than having to endure any of these songs.
Rainbow - If You Don't Like Rock and Roll ruined the debut album. Always hated bouncy Honky tonk piano, especially coming from a band with Medieval imagery
That's my least favorite song from that album for sure.
Mistress for Christmas was never popular. Just putting that out there.
Otherwise, I understand your list.
I agree...but I sooo dislike it I had to put it on the list...haha. That said, I've heard it on the radio around Christmas time.
this guy is on the highway to hell
I love that song!
Good anti-choice 😁
I'm so liking criticism about smth
I don't usually do negative videos but sometimes I feel the urge
I agree, Sweating Bullets is terrible.
Thanks
Yea Kiss, Put the X in Sex, yea that’s bad
the video is what puts it over the top for me.
People can hate on grunge all they want, but nu metal is way worse than grunge ever was. And while I'm on the topic of grunge, that song "Suck You Dry" by Mudhoney is absolutely annoying (even more than anything by Nirvana.)
I like early grunge stuff.
@@LairoftheAlchemist I do too, but that Mudhoney song I just described is awful.
I never fully bought into Skid Row for some reason.

Priest; Turbo Lover and Parental Guidance, for the TERRIBLE lyrics. Mistreated (by anyone) because it's boring, sorry, just to clarify, I find it boring.
I totally agree on Parental Guidance...total cringe lyrics. I also find Mistreated boring.
I don't think anyone blames you for not liking Walk. The most over played annoying song by the band. It's the one song every non-metal fan and casual likes.
I got a few...haha
@@LairoftheAlchemist Lol yeah, I totally get why you don't like Pantera. Don't blame you.
Sometimes the repetition works for AC/DC sometimes it doesn't
Guns N’ Roses - Patience
How can people like this boring piece of shit? Everybody claims it’s one of the best ballads, but every fucking time I hear it, it makes me wanna fall asleep. Truthfully, I’ve never been a big fan of GnR to begin with, but this song just flat out sucks. The instrumentation is as bland as an Air Supply song, Axl sounds like he’s about to fall asleep for a good chunk of the song, and even though it’s 6 minutes long, it feels like 6 hours. This shit makes “Open Arms” by Journey sound like “Painkiller” by Judas Priest.
TL/DR: Patience is boring.
Pantera was better when they were a hair metal band. Hated when they changed their sound.

Judas Priest -Rock Hard Ride Free (cheesy chorus, Fight For Your Life is much better)
Iron Maiden -Sun and Steel (yucky one 🤮)

Kreator -Phobia
Exodus -Toxic Waltz
Ozzy Osbourne & Motorhead -Hellraizer
