I wish the manufacturers would mold the canopy frame in styrene or perhaps photo etched frames. It would make it a lot easier for slobs like me. Thanks Andy.
Breakdown of parts look promising - if this is usual Border style fit, there should be no filler needed on the wing roots, and the wing angle will be perfect. I might do the Me 109 (the G-6 is not the most esthetic airplane IMO), but should they come out with a Fw 190 or the Ju 87 I‘ll be hooked for sure.
I don't do many aircraft. This one, this scale & quality are really attractive to me. BTW, usually shy away from gimmicks like a "Gold Package" but maybe I'll overlook that this time.
Briliant, so glad a manufacturer has started a new trend with a 1/35 scale German fighter like the Bf.109. This scale will become a future development from all manufacturers. Hope we see the Fw.190 D9 Dora and the Me.262 and Me.262 night fighter etc. The list is endless!! (PetervanHorne, South Africa)
The story of scales is an interesting topic. And 1/35 aircraft welcome. Airfix did however issue 1/32 military vehicles but it wasn't successful. Maybe due to their quality 1/35 Tamyia kits took over the market.
Its a beautiful new kit in the military scale with superb riveting, but there is one problem with the decal sheet. It is missing all the maintenance stencils and the “ do not walk“ lines, which are hard to replicate with airbrush. Greetings from Germany
At last Someone has seen the Obvious Gap in the Market. 1/35 Aircraft...!! About Bloody time..!! It's Driven me Nuts for years that 1/35 Tanks and Vehicle's have very little available in Aircraft to go with them. Now we really can do, an All 1/35 scale Diorama with both Available. Bring it on...!! Thanks for the Heads up and Review. I wonder how many years it will take them to Dribble Down to Australia..!? Cheers kim in Oz. 😎
There will be a few options available: I noticed the Tall rudder (7.15) on the sprues, so a Late G-6 and/or a G-14 should be along, with maybe a G-10/G-6AS, G-014AS, as well... Also the engine cannon had the option between the MG151/20 20mm rapid fire and the slower MK103 30mm cannon (7.22) . Wing mounted arms include the 20mm gun pods or the Rocket launchers (or neither!). One important point was the small blister beside the Main 13mm MG blister on the stbd engine cover piece: (8.39) That was not fitted to all Bf109G-6 models. You may need to check references for that as it is not an option, and will be "tricky" to remove. The other issue is the Decal sheet: There are NO stencilling markings at all - The 109 used quite a few, even in the cockpit(Fuel caps, octane ratings, oxygen feed markings and walk-ways for the wing uppers for starters). The lack of dials for the instrument panel is a WEIRD omission. Those are really the only criticism I have of the kit from this look, it looks like a 109 and has good detail.... If I was a armor modeller, I would buy it. But I do the wingy thingys...so not my scale, (1/48 & 1/32 usually), sadly.
Excuse me for a second while I wipe the drool off my desk...................! 😲 Damn, that is one nice kit! 👍 1/35 scale just makes so much sense but we'll see if it sticks? I hope aftermarket decals and parts will catch on as well!
Good idea to have a plane in 1/35. For the rest, I'm more and more perplexed about Border. It used to be one of my favorite brands and I bought almost any model they produced but.. EXCEPTIONAL panzer IV line, Leopard 2A6 with the worst possible instructions ever, almost like they were designed by a blind person (compared to them it might seems that Dragon instructions are written by Leonardo DaVinci himself!), I have the new Crusader but I still have to work on it, even though a friend who built it told me it's impossible to use the metal barrel cause it won't fit. Plus, is there ANY Border model that it's not a "special edition", now I clearly realize that with special edition Border actually means "yeah, we put some extra crap on the box", first was a phony Iron Cross with their tiger, which is crap, but ok, if you're a kid you might appreciate it, btw I own a REAL one and they are not that expensive anyway... Now we have the lottery for metal parts and figures. What's next?!? You buy a Panzer IV and it will be "the box might or might no contain a Panzer IV, or IS-1 or a P-40 or just nothing". I see only a clear lack of marketing direction from Border and this is sad cause i like the brand still.
No decals for the instruments but hey you get the chance to win a metal propeller! As for the solid canopy parts, I reckon you could use them as bucks for vacuforming your own, why you would want to though I don't know. 😋
@@gerdogstenc2534 Probably right about the canopy and painting, can't see any other reason for it. Confused as to why there are no decals for the dials and I thought they have included a masking kit to help paint the canopy.
@@Smoggy6681 another thought I had was Border Models reckon tank modellers can't cope with painting a cockpit so you just leave it out and use the solid parts. 🤷♂️

I'm frankly excited to have this in 1/35. I'm primarily an armor modeler, so having this in a scale compatible with my vehicles was a big plus. I just received mine and for the first time ever got exactly what I would have chosen for blind box bonuses. Received the PE seatbelts and the standing Gerhard Barkhorn resin pilot. Great review, great kit details, but one missed out of the box diorama opportunity - it would be nice to have this Bf-109 in transportation configuration, with wings detached. This would allow to depict it on a platformwagen, or loaded on a truck. So, yes, the scale is correct, but the possibilities are limited without scratchbuilding.
You know, the 109 G-6 is the 'model of doom' for contests but this looks incredible and it has huge diorama potential with all of the soft skin vehicles available in 1:35
While 1/35 is great, I'm really happy to see more armor kits coming out in 1/48. it's such a wonderful ratio for conversion in imperial and just makes sense. Planes can still be relatively huge on a shelf and tanks can still fit enough detail on them to be interesting.
The difference between 32 and 35 scales is miniscule. I mix them all the time, especially people, and it's impossible to tell they're not the same scale. Also, interesting that model manufactures have started to go with lootboxes.
nice finally they doing Airplanes in a scale where the size of that model is not overtaking so you don't need plenty of space to display them but bigger than 1.48 where the details always get lost in that scale
I think those non transparent canopy parts are meant to be used during painting process instead of masking interior or using masked transparent ones for the same purpose. Speaking about the kit, I hope this is some preproduction sample and the production kits won't have those appalling decals that would be unacceptable even for 1/48 kit not even mentioning for the kit as big as this one. Unfortunately, because of weird (for a plane) scale there are not going to be available any aftermarket decals so one would have to use those crappy in the kit and that would be at least for me a deal breaker.
@@kevinjohnson8220 That's why I put there "for a plane" qualifier.
