it really bugs me that this show refuses to learn what soldering and welding are. time and time again they get it backwards. every time you see someone welding, you can bet they refer to it as soldering. and when they show soldering, they tell us they are welding the electrical connections.
+tristen turner Yeah but they seem to think it's kinda synonym or soldering is an umbrella term for "fusing things with sparks and liquid metal". At the welding part, they get it right until that part ends with "they SOLDER about 90% of the wheelloader". It really is miseducation of the unknowing viewers ...
Do you know the actual definition of welding or soldering? Solder: to join (something made of metal) to something else with solder. Weld: to join pieces of metal together by heating the edges until they begin to melt and then pressing them together. Technically what you consider welding is not. What you think of welding is adding metal to the middle between the two pieces making it a SOLDER joint. Welding is typically only done with friction. TIG welding is as close as welding as it gets.
+npsit1 when you weld mig, tig, or acetylene you are melting both parts you weld and add in filler with the rod. if it was soldering you would not alloy the weld rod with the work piece. tin solder does not alloy with the copper pipe its used with, it fills in the gaps where as welding steel with 6010 rod for example, it alloys the rod and the steel to make a strong joint.
CNC machine tool is ANCIENT, its tool changer is slower than cold molasses...and the amount of coolant applied is inconsequential. This must be a blacksmith shop...
"i don't want to start an argument..." OK, I'll do it for you. You're Wrong! Welding and soldering are different. In welding, the filler material melts, but so do the work pieces. In soldering, the filler (solder) melts, but the work pieces DO NOT melt. If you tried to solder together an earth mover, it would fall apart when you tried to use it.
@klesmer yer except the fact she said weld fuckin 5 times then went to solder well if there using a welder its welding but i agree they need to stop making shit up
"You wouldn't think that precision isn't important, but being just a few millimeters off..." YOU CALL THAT PRECISION!? I'm normally dealing with hundredths of a mm 🤣
If the general public only knew how many of these jobs are actually contracted out to foreign countries because they do it so much cheaper than Americans can makes no sense whatsoever. Just like everything else in the world nowadays send it somewhere else let the third world countries do it for pennies on the dollar
True that too, but I am so used to americans forgetting how to pronounce stuff in their own language, so I let it slide, rather focusing on the fact that soldering =! welding =P
@acoow Bullshit! As in journalism ,she should have at least a basic knowledge of the subject she is narrating. But I guess it's just like being a reporter, facts and accuracy aren't important anymore, just make up some shit, no one will notice.
That "Cat" had "Komatsu" on its arm.
Sure it did. You are goofie and weirdo
@Serostern i don't want to start an argument but soldering is just another type of welding. i.e. soldering is welding and welding is soldering.

Keep in mind that this show is Canadian.
What's the difference, pray tell?
2:18 that guy loves his job too much
2:18 ...ooooo yeaaaa
I wonder if that is the Komatsu plant in Red Bank, TN
Patrick TheBaptist No that is not the red Bank , I were there this is nothing but a Doohickey farmhouse shop
We watched this as a class in 8th grade once, and at 2:18, the entire class was dying 😂
I like the old original narrator better.
I don't care who is the narrator is
Depends on what you are soldering, if you solder bronze it fuses with the metal, so that'll be a bitch to pull apart ;P
Komatsu quality is at top.
CAT has triple defects compared to Komatsu.
Please lern !!
Amazing. Caterpillar
@razers1 :-) excellent!
I was thinking the same thing
Nice. 2024
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

"they solder 90% of the loader" god i hope they weld it !
4:29
they bolt the tires to the rim? really? maybe she meant they bolt the rims/wheels to the hub.
Bead lock?
2:17 money shot!!
2:18 the guy watching just offscreen got just a little over excited.
@ericmck2000 It's a man that writes the script.
Questions?
@1234tche *Headdesk*
Wikipedia is your friend, mate.
hehe A lot of fucking welding xD
@klesmer yer except the fact she said weld fuckin 5 times then went to solder well if there using a welder its welding but i agree they need to stop making shit up
2:18 BRAZZERS

Funky music. She hates it I bet.

Easier to say "Bush's no longer president, green light on President hatred and bashing".
@acoow Assuming it's a woman scriptwriter my comment is still applicable.

LOOOOOL
Lol in the end they show a cat
I don't really care who fucked up, but someone did.
Well, that's 5 minutes wasted ... They showed nothing comprehensible
THE FUCK WAS THAT?!
This has to be the worst "How It's Made" that I've ever seen.
top comment copier
Was this commentary written for five year olds?
I hate that woman’s voice. My poor ears....
