BRAVO for posting this POLITICALLY INCORRECT but historically sound (and heartwarming) movie! As I idly tried searching it I didn't dare hope to find it. THANK YOU. The Film Detective -- love that ;) Another you might want to hunt for us is 1966's I Was Happy Here, alt. title Time Lost and Time Remembered.
You are shockingly dimwitted. The phrase "politically correct" is used by regressives to silence any serious discussion of the ongoing history of race and racism, otherwise it has no meaning, it is gibberish. This film is an historical artifact reflecting the rank racism of my Grandparents youth, where white folks joked about lynching black folks as Will Rogers did... Meanwhile the Scotsboro "Boys" were being legally lynched and Claude Neal was being fed his own balls by a bunch of patriotic God-fearing white Americans. That's one reality highlighted by this film, and your dumb remark about "politically incorrect" contributes NOTHING to the discussion, it has ZERO content except to unwittingly reveal that you're a dolt🇺🇲🤡
Very much worth seeing, IF you keep in mind that it looks on the South with extremely rose colored glasses. Really shocked me to hear Will Rodgers casually toss off a "facetious" comment about lynching Steppin Fetchit.
Yeah a month after this was released they cut off Claude Neal's balls and made him eat them etc. Also Scotsboro "boys" were being legally lynched while white folks including my grandparents were laughing along with Will Rogers et al... Such a grotesque and barbaric culture, it strains the imagination... And white folks say get over it stop living in the past, but my grandparents only recently died, it's the living past!
I’ve always lived this movie! Will Rogers & Steppin Fetchit were great together. All the characters are hilarious. They no longer make these kind of movies. Will Rogers, Hattie McDaniels and Steppin Fetchit will ALWAYS be National Treasures 👍
I am glad that “They no longer make these kind of movies”, Denise. Well, it depend on what “kind of movies” you are talking about. 2/28/2022. Take care. Normal is NOT coming back but JESUS is and HE will set “ALL THINGS” STRAIGHT. I can’t hardly wait.
Ladies first, please: Hattie, Will and Steppin. BTW: my late mother in-law was Hattie, and her husband, because of his sense of humor, was called Will. : )
@@stephenclintary4300 Imagine how racist you must be to find the serial demeaning and dehumanizing of "Stepin Fetchit" hilarious! In fact of course it's grotesque, but you could only recognize this obvious reality if the white folks were victimized...
I don't think people these days realize how popular Will Rogers was.
No I for 1 never heard of him but thanks very for the introduction xx

Denise might like Driving Miss Daisy (Morgan Freeman coincidentally does an impressive Stepin Fetchit impersonation)

What did you find good about this film?
@@lessconfused5179 the down home humor of the South and I knew black people like that it brings up good memories
@@brianbavosa877 That’s interesting. Are you a White person?
@@lessconfused5179 you know I am
@@brianbavosa877 Thanks for answering the questions!
Damion was here.
Clarence was here...
Anita Louise beautiful
Will Rogers was Robin Williams before Robin Williams was Robin Williams.
HATTIE MCDANIELS!!!!!!!
If he had lived Will would have had a lot to mock about Hitler and the Nazis.
And these lies of people of color and stereotypes still exist
