The reason why we train in bare feet is because it is part of our martial art tradition. We are studying a traditional martial art, Kuk Sool Won, which involves a high level of etiquette and respect. We also use a belt ranking system as a means of representing different levels of learning. We are passionate about training and we want to represent our art and our teachers well. Training in bare feet also strengthens many stabilizing muscles in the ankles and lower legs. Thanks!
Where are you guys located in Abilene? I live 6 hours away in New Mexico. I sometimes will go down to Lubbock to the Kuk Sool Won school to train with given permission by the instructor there. we use to have a Kuk Sool Won school here where I live, sense my instructors were Military they had to pcs to another base. but I will love to travel down to Abilene to train with you guys with given permission from you all.
This is very interesting. I need to learn a practical and effective martial art that will defeat the average street fighter. The only thing I don't understand, in most martial arts dojos they don't have free weights, benches, no strength training equipment to build and strengthen the muscles!! Techniques are priority but muscle building and strengthening is also a major component. My main question is, what's the time frame in earning a black belt let's say training 3 days a week??
todd mustafa-ali if you train 3 days a week and attend every grading it should only take around 3 years to obtain your black belt 1st degree...your welcome my friend , now start training hard 🤜
Go and find a decent Boxing / Kickboxing gym and get on Stronglifts 5x5, all you'll need, can throw some Wrestling or BJJ in at some point too, KSW is a waste of your time, you would decimate any of their blackbelts after 6 months
@djeq721 Every good instructor/student of martial arts knows that the only physical aspect of a belt, no matter the color, is simply there to hold your uniform together. However, the mental aspect of earning a belt at any level due to hard training efforts and discipline in the arts, not to mention committment and endurance achieved therein. The fascination comes from the level of respect, integrity, and dedication one must have to reach an honorable status of "black belt" it doesn't end there.
