Church Girl is a statement of what the church SHOULD be like, but a lot of times isn't. You can serve God after serving body in the club the night before. They're not mutually exclusive lol.

There are ancient spiritual systems that's been around for thousands of years. Ma'at for example. In any case, I think this song plays a good role in contrasting dark and light. And dancing has been viewed, especially in ancient times and spiritual and a way of communication with the divine. So we are definitely on the same page with that

Since everything basically transitions into one long song or One long club mix, I like to say that I have favorite segments on the album
My favorites are:
1. Plastic off the sofa
2. Virgos groove
3. Move
4. Heated
The first two are sensual R&B and the second two are Dancehall pop created by Pharrell and Drake
I grew up listening to R&B and Dancehall and Beyoncé has always been one of the few artists who was able to combine the two genres so effortlessly.
My next segment of favorites are

2. Cozy
3. Alien superstar
4. Cuff it
These songs are all about empowerment, strutting your shit and dancing
They’re fabulous And I love how they transition into each other

I honestly feel like this album is legendary. It's taking us out of a dark space (talking to my black people here) and it's inspiring all of us to dance for an hour straight. One thing I’ll say is that she’s definitely showing range. It’s not the style I thought the whole album was going to be. But I appreciate that type of shock factor. I honestly thought BMS was gonna be like one of the only songs that sounded so house-like in the track listing. So she’s very much giving us 70’s & 80’s but in a modern way; Runway, Club, Vintage vibes.

You spoke my mind by and large, but ti's 5 things you said that really hit me.
1. I'm that Girl being all over the place (in a good way) - I'm not gonna lie, this scared me at first. I thought I wasn't going to be able to enjoy the album as much, because how can I enjoy something I can't follow or sing along too. Like I still can't get that "these mfs ain't stopping me" part down lol. For this album to be super karaoke friendly (karaoke is a huge stress relief of mine) is kind of antithesis to I'm that Girl. Once Cozy sparks up, we're really into it.
2. Church Girl caught me off guard like it did you. Starts off like a ballad you'd expect to be called Church Girl, but then the beat starts and you're like whaaaat? Then the lyrics and you're like oh this ain't what I was expecting lmao. But I love it and this is such a good song to hear now after the swing and miss of a song like "nasty girl" earlier in her/DC's career. (Sidebar: I can't be convinced NG was satire. I love the girls, but it's a problematic song).
3. Pure/Honey is so good and it's not being talked about enough, specifically the Honey part. If "Cuff It" is akin to "Blow", "Honey" is the cherry breakdown in Blow. It's so fun, light, and catchy.
4. "We gotta meet the music" - 100%. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was listening to the same song, but with the beat flipped. She switches up mid song and meshes the previous song with the next song so well. The transitions from song to song is spectacular.
5.Nobody gives you waves and waves of sound like Bey, and that's what I love about her most. Even if I didn't enjoy the music, I'd enjoy the harmonies and the little trinkets she gives. I knew the album was going to be full of that because she was flexing her low voice all over BMS.
I just love how fun and bright the album is.
