Getting Stuck For About 45 Minutes On Some ThyssenKrupp Traction Elevators In Pompano Beach FL

- Ok so here’s the whole story. I was on 8 about to make my descend down to the 1st floor. Right after the door closes, the thing drops like 2 feet and completely stops. I try pushing buttons and the door open button but nothing works. So then I use the emergency phone and call a dispatcher. 45 minutes later, the good ole TK boys come to rescue me. Yes, while I wish I could’ve got out sooner or not get stuck at all, it could’ve been much worse. I am thankful for the dispatchers and ThyssenKrupp for getting me out fairly quick and safely.

I actually rode an elevator recently and it basically did the same thing, shook itself down, and faulted out.
It was also an MRL, and I personally believe the Permanent magnet Gearless motor wasn’t aligned properly. If the magnets in the motor don’t properly line up she it’s time to move, the elevator is gonna move very violently, and eventually shut itself down.
After a reset the elevator worked again.

The way it shook before you got stuck, like holy crap! I almost wonder if the VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) for the motor screwed up, I don't know, so many possibilities, but I am just glad they got you out.

Holy shit, I've never seen an elevator shake that violently.
In the hospital where my grandfather is, has one of the two main Thyssencrap lifts (the left one) vibrating *a lot* during the journey, and it breaks down continuously (60% of the times, the lift is not in service, leaving the right lift overcrowded, and having to wait five journeys sometimes to get on (they fit 11 people)).
WTF I have never seen anything like that shake before, glad you got out safe and sound
Looks like the cables snapped. Thank god for that safety brake or else it could have ended up badly. It’s good that ur safe tho.
Cables don't just snap like that. They are VERY strong. I have no idea what happened here but the cables definetly didn't snap.

@@PFElevators There are many different reasons a lift can shake like this so I can't tell you exactly what happened. Also what makes you think it was the emergency break that got engaged? The normal brake could stop the lift just fine.
@@nelsonahlvik6650 what makes me think the emergency brake was engaged was because when that door closed. it went down so fast that it was shaking.
@@PFElevators Uploader said that it only went down about 2 feet. That's not far at all.

Glad you got out safely, glad you got that on camera that was sketchy the way the elevator acted when it got stuck.
I'm wondering if it was the governor that got tripped, because that was quite the jolt so I wonder if the governor tripped the elevators emergency brake since these are traction.

How could this guy foresee the event and start capturing the elevator ride with his smartphone before it happens? Perhaps as a „huge elevator enthusiast“ he took every elevator joy ride on video.
Happened to me on an elevator I was working on, one of the tape reader magnet got moved. Upon reading it, the controller said open the door. But lost the signal instantly as it was moving so with the doors being open away from a door zone the rope gripper fell then reopened once the car door where closed. Happened twice. The third time it happened I was out of the box and trying to replicate it from the controller. Easy fix.
So yeah the rope gripper would make the cab shake.
But that shook a lot so idk. Might just be a cheap cab with no structural integrity

I got stuck in a Kone, a Schindler, an eastern, a Westinghouse, another Schindler, a close call with a Thyssenkrupp and another close call with another Schindler

Once it fixed it self after a while
Twice fire department was called, and twice security was able to open it.
All different places. The Thyssenkrupp one as only for a few minuets and it fixed it self too so that doesn’t really count as the others did.

Today I got stuck in my school’s elevator for about 30 minutes. The 911 operator on the elevator phone asked me the exact same questions as you will find in my video.

what I was thinking was probably the overspeed governer thought it went too fast and safety breaked the elevator but the elevator failed to reset the overspeed governer which is why you got stuck and elevator shutdown

Lift cables don't just snap!!! They are made to a very high standard!!!
It might have been a safety brake that was accidentally triggered, and the traction from the brakes caused that shaking.

OMG!!!! I think the reason why you got stuck is because the elevator started shaking very hard and caused the elevator to stall.
But what made it shake?
@@aybgreg6748 It was probably either the elevator motor or the guide rails.
@@bgelevators6697 I think I know what happened. One of the cables snapped and the safety brake triggered, making it violently shake. Stalling the elevator.
@@PFElevators I test safety brakes for a living (1 year so far) and none of them so far made the cabin shake like that.
@@PFElevators This lift is brand new. Why in the world would a cable snap. They are very sturdy.
