Megan and Yuki are doing a retelling of the old Japanese folklore story of Nure-Onna (aka The Snake Woman or the Wet Woman) who lures evil men near water to their doom after transforming into a snake. The blue face paint is an homage to the famous Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's movie "Dreams" where blue denotes someone has gone to the afterlife. Meg is Nure-Onna in the video going after Yakuza gangsters and Yuki is her righthand man who prepares the dead men for servitude to Nure-Onna in the afterlife. I studied Japanese cinematography in college so I've watched just about every supernatural/folklore film/tv show under the sun from there, lol, so I was super hype after seeing the video the first time. The cultural detail is insane and appreciated by a lot of Japanese viewers.

So the part where she is naked, she is in a Onsen, Onsens are Japanese bathhouses and they are very unique, in Japanese history during the Edo period, houses were very small and sometimes didn't have baths so Onsens were created and in Onsens you are supposed to be naked. And also fun fact: So if you have tattoos and you are planning on going to a Onsen you'll probably be mistaken for bringing part of the Yakuza which is the mafia gang you guys mentioned
Snakes are such a downplayed animal. Everybody looks at snakes as bad or scary… but in most cultures from Africans, Native Americans and Asians etc… snakes are about transformation and letting go of the past.
I'm glad someone said this because a lot of people don't know nothing about other cultures and they're misjudging based on fears or colonizer's religion that brainwashed them🤝🏽
The snake is a symbol of the ERA! hence why everything since Cobra has been snaked themed! these the only artist so far that’s able to deliver a cohesive album era
