Hey Odd, you get 3 AP for evacing an EXALT unit and only 1 AP if they die or evac themselves. You threw away 4 AP points for nothing by not evacing them when you could've. I get you don't want the unit but you can always dismiss a soldier...
Your mind-control and hack-controlled units tick the same way your ability cooldowns tick. You know how skill cooldowns work, so there's no need to be confused about controlled enemies.
Something I thouth about that could be a realy good combo useing reapers clamore in a midle of a group and the shooting it with tesla rifle since clamore is garated to hit tesla rifle aoe should allso deal aoe damage to everyone potencialy wipeing the pod
Nade claymore is also my favourite opener, wipes out almost all armor and deals upto 12 DMG anything weaker than elite stun lancers (which has 12 hp if I do not remember incorrectly it might be 14 but with plasma it's still kill. At full damage of course) dies instantly. Anything stronger either one or two shoots away from death. Excluding berserkers they got million hp and had to be shot at for two full turns to kill.

Really enjoying the season and playing the season. Great work to the mod authors and mod assemblers. Best XCOM experience yet. The variety in soldier construction with the size of the barracks makes it less “pressure” to min-max the build and leads to experimentation.
Man every episode has been a rollercoaster ride where it feels like we're barely scraping by and the slightest twist of fate spells instant-death. Yet we keep getting these sweet bonuses so maybe it's balancing out? Hopefully this isn't cutting into your recovery!
You should invest in advent disguises armor for covert action ambushes instead of predator armor. They give health bonus of +3, conceal and reduced detection range. They are so good.

From an RP perspective I've always seen evacing an exalt unit as an ethical thing. Like you're gonna unbrainwash them and then return them to a role in the resistance (either on the team or dismissing them and treating it like they're off to help the resistance in other ways.)
Odd sees that he has 2 full turns left with the mec to get some work done on the turrets. "oh no this thing will kill everyone next turn so it must die."
Regarding the rapidly increasing knowledge of the Choosen (if you don't already know it)... Avenger - Commanders Quarters - Activity Chains there is an overview of all ongoing and ended chains. Some of them have red warning boxes with the text "Chosen Surveillance" - "Completing this chain has a chance to increase the Knowledge of a random Chosen." Interesting to know when only 1 Chosen is active, will this Chosen receive all informations? If so, Probably it is then better to have all 3 Chosen active to split the Knowledge? Does anyone know how this is handled ingame?
I belive putting the Shadowchamber and psylab on conduits is more power efficient but I could be wrong.. also, I think is always Better to capture mocx for the loot+AP or at least finish them for the same reason. Anyway, great episode as always!
Oh man, you really did NOT want to grab that Exalt Templar. Because that meant you had a Templar when the month ticked over, the CovOp to recruit a new one didn't pop up (which it otherwise would have, after losing Ronin). So now, instead of getting a new Sergeant or even Lieutenant Templar after a short CovOp, you have a Squaddie Templar who's not even available for 20 days. If anything, you should have left the Exalt Templar alone here and grabbed her the next time she showed up. Pardon my salt, but *man* that sucks to have a Templar slot dangled for four episodes and then see it swiped with only 12 hours to go.
Those covert actions don't appear in Covert Infiltration. The closest thing is a 'Rescue a Resistance Faction Hero', which is an infiltration that requires extracting a VIP from an ADVENT Cell or Vehicle.
@@ruler2k2k2 Yes they do. I'm talking about the Recruit Templar/Skirmisher/Reaper mission (also called "A Hero's Welcome") which is the usual way to replace a dead faction soldier. Those missions normally spawn the month after the faction soldier is killed (maybe the second month after as well, so hope might not be lost), but they're only triggered if you don't have any of that particular faction class at the time. So since Chris picked up a new Templar through capture right before the month ticked over, the game showed him as having a Templar and so didn't spawn the mission to get a new one the normal way to replace Ronin. You can go back to ep. 13 of last season and see the covop spawn to replace the Skirmisher he'd lost a few episodes earlier.
i dont know if pound for pound reaper carries its weight, but perma highlighting pods with multiple instances of concealment(and free shot per conceal) is just so fun to use. i always have a blast running around lost maps with them.
It physically hurts me to see Odd leave that skirmisher on the field. And then he goes "oh, we should grab all the hero class soldiers. 😭 And a psi op that got away, but in fairness Witch was in a tough spot to grab her without the justice pull.

Lol it's so strange, i have max crew capacity, and at least 45 soldiers. They are all busy, tired, doing covert missions and i don't need to skip regular missions that often. Strange to see the opposite approach. Any soldier i try to grab, also more troops means more chance for a gifted or genius, those i always send out to covert ops to become savant, +7AP per level. And get more from the extra training. Also true the expanded crew size costed supply, and Odd didn't spread yet to get much income.
I think subject 42 wouldve been a good soldier to at least try and capture considering our lack of hacking/gremlin users. Especially if he got to keep aid protocol the fantastic OG skill

10:03 I think by killing the other advent you proced lone wolf on scout, giving his significant defense additional boost - this resulted in 0% overwatches. For future reference - don't underestimate scouts.

I think losing Ronin had made me lose focus, an' it showed. I spilled my peace, not wanting to leave her out of what had happened. She'd only just came back from a long covert mission and didn't know most of us. She understood what I was going through and gave me the ability to refocus on what we were headed out to do. White Wolf had told me about Rapunzel and wanting to get her introduced around th'ship. They've all been bouncing around covert ops this whole time so it's been tough to get to know people. I felt bad. I've been here, what feels like, th'longest and yet A've not really gotten around to knowing people until recently. A've made it a point to do better. Bringing us closer together will only make us stronger. I ran into Rapunzel th'other day and we hit it off almost immediately. I get why White Wolf wanted to introduce her to everyone. This will be good. Granted this isn't the brightest moment, but we can pull through. ... Rapunzel was whisked off to another covert op again. I hope she comes back safe. I like this one. ... I wonder.... Why do you not follow the claymore with another grenade? It will detonate the claymore as well deleting weak units and leaving heavier ones with massively shredded armor and very low hp???
at 38:54, when the game gets "stuck" and Odd reloads, he just forgot to hunker or overwatch one of his units. If the game was processing it would've locked the camera
In my opinion, there doesnt seem to be any drawback to picking up all those FREE soldiers. Instead of killing them you can make them do those risky covert ops, where people can be captured, ambushed, killed and get some use out of them. If you need the crew size back you can always just let them go. You also need us to tell you which covert ops you could do? Since you record ahead, it will be too late to let you know.
Agahta Martinez, we called her the White Wolf. I fought alongside her on Operation Mammoth Collapse in that abandoned city some time back. Never thought this would be the only time we'd collaborate on a mission. She's...gone now, just like Ryan, just like Viktor, just like Craig... Just like Cassie. I...I know the Commander didn't expect the Sectoid to just gun her down, I mean they use their brain powers more right? But the Commander, I'm sure he didn't expect Cassie to get gunned down on a simple operation to blow up some damn statue. No, I-I can't blame him, I can't. I shouldn't, it's not fair for me to say that. Even if I was there to help, what could have I done? The Assassin as always made it her job to cause us suffering, that sword using Shadow[expletive] just won't leave us alone. She keeps learning more and more from the scattered Resistance. We need to take her out, we have to or more of us are going to keep dying and we can't keep up. She's nipping at our ankles and taking us out one by one. What do we do?
I downloaded this same mod pack but added a bunch of weapon mods and I’m literally on this mission it’s the same exact map but in way later in the game
Well, he had a shot that I think could hit 3 units but did not take it. Not sure he uses their unique trait effectively yet. Could also just be undertuned on top of it though.
I've found them a little tricky to use too. I'm guessing they'll be great later though and on the occasion you do hit multiple units it is really great
They are like mini grenade launchers, and only cause 1 less damage (ok must hit, i mean they affect small area). Just don't target near your unit. I was skeptical with the flamethrower, but was forced to use it when he got ambushed.... killed 8 of the 11 enemies.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. A mobility PCS is what he really needs, but who knows when one might show up. Still, getting Teach a level-up here so he can enter mobility training will be huge. Lost missions also sometimes turn into a gunline, and that's where he'll shine.
Yes he got a skill offer to have one free adesion grenade for that soldier each mission, for science he took it. Same as some get free flashbang or free smoker grenade. Don't ask which class, can't remember, and it's random even for those.
have to love chris dissing we don´t need pullpup breahtroughs since we don´t use them and bam in mission it did lot of damage lol allmost equal to cannons lol tough some reason chriss like to kill all pullpup users so far lol those small weapons are really handy with enough aim etc to counter their shorter range but ability to shoot twice helps alot lol
Does it make the most sense to put power on the power coil, or is it better to build the conduit in the existing power station, staff it with an engineer, and put the Psi Lab on the power coil? It seems like it, but one of these modes might have changed the math.
@@jerehelenius523 It's almost a wash, but eventually the Psi Lab sucks up a huge amount of power, and there is already the issue of the useless Gremlin from the adjacent R&D, so it makes sense to put the Power Conduit in and staff it with the Gremlin.
He means when he forgot to put the scientist in and loaded earlier autosave. But karma stroke, he could have ignored all the Berserker events (small chance they even appear, then just focus on them first), instead he got at least 4 painfull stuff at the start of the month, he can't prevent them all.
Mech killed too early and you should definitely recover experimental items at worst you will get a vest at best you will get special rounds and grenades.
@askance43 it's not the biggest deal. He isn't save scumming. If anything we got worse dark events on the reload cuz I don't even think we see berserkers or chrysallids yet. And regarding the reload mid-mission and not copying the same exact moves. That's also fine since he got a moderately wounded soldier because of the turret. Imo as long as there is a trade off it works out
Honestly, the "change in tactics" on the glitch reload is more sketch than the scientist. In the past, he's been very careful to repeat actions exactly on a reload. Don't think either one is going to swing this particular campaign TBH.
@@TheH3LLP3RThere was also the RetCon of the infirmary slot. And the strategy level reload when Odd was too greedy completing a supply drop and then the mission timed out during the flight over. No downside to either of those.
Yeah i think your just wrong. Both advent and Xcom share the same turn its just Xcom gets to go first. Think of it like this, when you use an ability with a 4 turn cooldown. It doesnt become a 2 turn cooldown at the start of your next turn just because advent also moved. It would still be a 3 turn cooldown
Why are you shooting claymore every time? Throwing grenade towards dead center of a placed claymore should work most of the time without any glitch. You could have killed those two guys with floater by a grenade. Only glitch of usage a claymore i have seen so far, when the claymore gets thrown inside environmental objects and cannot be targeted.

Light armor also includes the Spider and Wraith Suits, I believe. So that improved light armor would be a nice to grab
Yes light does not refer to the armor Tier but rather:
Light: Spider & Wraith/ghost suits
Heavy: Exco-skeletons & War suits.
The predator armored up troops look incredible, props to everyone who designed that.

Flying would probably be a good choice on lost missions due to their tendency to group up making them prime choices for tesla rifles.
Oh, great point! However, because the tesla rifle is weird, it might not be able to headshot, like the chemthrower.

I think Subject 42 seemed to be proccing a "Triangulation" ability too, but that might have been the MEC trooper. It was really hard to tell.

In my opinion, there doesnt seem to be any drawback to picking up all those FREE soldiers. Instead of killing them you can make them do those risky covert ops, where people can be captured, ambushed, killed and get some use out of them. If you need the crew size back you can always just let them go.
You also need us to tell you which covert ops you could do? Since you record ahead, it will be too late to let you know.

Even if I was there to help, what could have I done? The Assassin as always made it her job to cause us suffering, that sword using Shadow[expletive] just won't leave us alone. She keeps learning more and more from the scattered Resistance.
We need to take her out, we have to or more of us are going to keep dying and we can't keep up.
She's nipping at our ankles and taking us out one by one.

I downloaded this same mod pack but added a bunch of weapon mods and I’m literally on this mission it’s the same exact map but in way later in the game
Tesla trooper always seems like a big disappointment
The first few lVls are not impressive but the back-end you can wipe out groups fast.
Well, he had a shot that I think could hit 3 units but did not take it. Not sure he uses their unique trait effectively yet.
Could also just be undertuned on top of it though.
I've found them a little tricky to use too. I'm guessing they'll be great later though and on the occasion you do hit multiple units it is really great
They are like mini grenade launchers, and only cause 1 less damage (ok must hit, i mean they affect small area). Just don't target near your unit.
I was skeptical with the flamethrower, but was forced to use it when he got ambushed.... killed 8 of the 11 enemies.
I did not think you can get Templars and the like in that way so that is cool.
In my campaign the number of dark events is insane, I just don't have the numbers to keep up with the amount of missions the mod pack throws at you.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. A mobility PCS is what he really needs, but who knows when one might show up. Still, getting Teach a level-up here so he can enter mobility training will be huge. Lost missions also sometimes turn into a gunline, and that's where he'll shine.

Pretty sure 2 turns means 2 xcom turns because it said it ends at the beginning of the advent turn. So you didn't need to kill the mech.

Its given by a skill if i remember correctly. Its only on the soldier with that specific skill, he cant pass it to a different soldier
Yes he got a skill offer to have one free adesion grenade for that soldier each mission, for science he took it. Same as some get free flashbang or free smoker grenade. Don't ask which class, can't remember, and it's random even for those.

have to love chris dissing we don´t need pullpup breahtroughs since we don´t use them and bam in mission it did lot of damage lol allmost equal to cannons lol tough some reason chriss like to kill all pullpup users so far lol those small weapons are really handy with enough aim etc to counter their shorter range but ability to shoot twice helps alot lol
One of my best soldiers us marauder with grenade launcher and engineer, she doesn't remove her exo suit😊

I asked last episode, and apparently they're improved versions of the vanilla classes.
EXALT uses slightly modified vanilla classes.

Does it make the most sense to put power on the power coil, or is it better to build the conduit in the existing power station, staff it with an engineer, and put the Psi Lab on the power coil? It seems like it, but one of these modes might have changed the math.

well new power to coil is good in this situation also since we have lot of research to do to get spi lab lol
@@jerehelenius523 It's almost a wash, but eventually the Psi Lab sucks up a huge amount of power, and there is already the issue of the useless Gremlin from the adjacent R&D, so it makes sense to put the Power Conduit in and staff it with the Gremlin.

But karma stroke, he could have ignored all the Berserker events (small chance they even appear, then just focus on them first), instead he got at least 4 painfull stuff at the start of the month, he can't prevent them all.

That is a setting even in vanilla. Simply they last 4-5 weeks, that's a lot of episodes.

These are "Requiem Legion" units, the HP bar changes colour to reflect the fact they are slightly 'more powerful/dangerous' enemies

Mech killed too early and you should definitely recover experimental items at worst you will get a vest at best you will get special rounds and grenades.
I'm taken aback at how casually the "Honestman" has been discarded. I always considered it a key selling point of your campaigns.

@askance43 it's not the biggest deal. He isn't save scumming. If anything we got worse dark events on the reload cuz I don't even think we see berserkers or chrysallids yet. And regarding the reload mid-mission and not copying the same exact moves. That's also fine since he got a moderately wounded soldier because of the turret. Imo as long as there is a trade off it works out
I mean he'd been saying for episodes that he wanted to put that scientist in so he was just doing what he said he was going to.
Honestly, the "change in tactics" on the glitch reload is more sketch than the scientist. In the past, he's been very careful to repeat actions exactly on a reload. Don't think either one is going to swing this particular campaign TBH.
@@TheH3LLP3RThere was also the RetCon of the infirmary slot. And the strategy level reload when Odd was too greedy completing a supply drop and then the mission timed out during the flight over. No downside to either of those.

Yeah i think your just wrong. Both advent and Xcom share the same turn its just Xcom gets to go first.
Think of it like this, when you use an ability with a 4 turn cooldown. It doesnt become a 2 turn cooldown at the start of your next turn just because advent also moved. It would still be a 3 turn cooldown

Why are you shooting claymore every time? Throwing grenade towards dead center of a placed claymore should work most of the time without any glitch. You could have killed those two guys with floater by a grenade. Only glitch of usage a claymore i have seen so far, when the claymore gets thrown inside environmental objects and cannot be targeted.
he does grenades on claymores often.
